  1. okay, here goes .....

    1) 1982 Vauxhall Chevette - 4 door (c/w box speakers, spot lights and a whale tale spoiler) - it was lovely bronze

    2) 1984 MG Metro (blew the engine)

    3) 1989 Metro Sh1tty - nuf said

    4) 1988 XR2 - fantastic car - old style, too much bother from the old bill though

    5) 1991 Cavalier SRi - loved that car as well

    6) 1998 Peogeot 406 - first company car (like the French - temperamental!) - fell to bits after 3 years

    7) 2001 IS 200 .... bliss!!!

My "Shuv-it" was still the car closest to my heart! :withstupid:

  2. Am flying through Gatwick on Sunday .... was quite relieved earlier in the week that all of the attention was on Heathrow and not Gatwick ... but then that pesky Venezualan/Columbian/Bangladeshy (depends which paper you read) turned up with a little hand grenade ...

Come to think of it ... with all of those Police and troops at heathrow, I wonder if they will be able to find my bag ...... seems to go missing every other time I fly through there .. :withstupid:

  3. Don't get me wrong - I enjoy being spoiled as much as the next girl, but if he does it just because it's "that day" be it anniversary, birthday or valentines it doesn't mean as much as if he say, came home from work an hour early and cooked dinner - beans on toast would do (and washed up afterwards, that would be nice, but hey - lets not push it!!)

Cook the tea and wash up and bring you some daisies from next doors garden when we HAVENT done anythign wrong ......

You don't want much do you ......

Anymore of that and you'd be wondering what we had been up to! :shifty::shifty::whistling::innocent:

  4. im going to take her out somewhere local

let 3 guys soak her and rub her all over

    take her home

    get out the auto glym

    and polish her

paying special attention to her headlights

    and her dirty rims

You forgot to mention giving her a clean inside ..... :P

  5. I can thoroughly recommend it - I did one up here in the hinterlands ... well, Elgin to be precise, and the guy that ran it also trained Grampian Police. Dealt with the usual under/over steer and how to catch it - but also stuff like total-loss of control (ice), aquaplaning, cadence braking and braking to avoid an object (pensioner, child etc) who has walked in front of you.

I did it when I still was a FWD guy, and am thinking about doing it again now that I have the IS200.

    B)

  6. Had the misfortune to take a large projectile square on the top of the windscreen the other night ..... thought I had got away with it until yesterday and saw a lovely crack gleefully spreading down the screen

Got it booked it for Friday - at the small cost of 500 beer tokens ...

the point of my post - has anybody else had their screen replaced - and if so are there any tips on what to look out for when they are removing and refitting?

    :eerrrmm: :backofnet::zorro:

  7. When I rang Lex I asked them to fit like for like - maybe they've changed their policy?

I hope they have ...... please keep me posted!

I'm sure we all bow to your greater knowledge of 'rim lubrication'

Tyre soap ... obviously!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :doggy:

  8. Try getting your local Kwik-Fit to put on a set of Sc430 runflats!!

That should keep em busy for a few hours!

LOL .... think I would invest in a bead braker and balancer and do it myself!!! :withstupid:

It's all to do with the amount of lubrication on the rim ..... :zorro::innocent::devil: B)

  9. I've always used Kwik-Fit as mine was also leased although not with Lex. I got through several sets of tyres and never had any problems with their fitters. Fortunately the lease company I was with had no issue with me requesting replacement Bridgestones as that was what the car was supplied with.

I think that it has been more to do with the fact that they have given the job to the brake specialist or MOT guy as opposed to the fitters! Fitting is a skill .... the good ones can change your boots in no time - without a scratch ... whereas the brake specialist might only fit one or two sets per week ..... 45 profiles are a b@gger to fit anyway becuase the sidewall is so stiff and small!

Last time I was in the guy took 10 minutes to get the tyre off the rim ..... I was on the point of putting the boiler suit on and doing it myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :withstupid::ph34r::yahoo:

As with Lex leasing .... there was no movement, believe me I tried!!! My next move is to switch from KF to National - and see what they have in stock first!!! :shifty:

  10. I've just called Lex One Call to let them know my tyres need changing and was quite impressed. They told me to take it to Kwick-Fit (hmmm, not too sure on that) and they will replace the tyres like for like if that's what I want.

word of caution clare, I also have a Lex car, and they too told me to go to Kwik-Fit (who had terrible problems getting the tyres on and off the rim ... so keep an eye on what the fitter is doing and check your wheels!) - but Kwik Fit were told by Lex to replace the 9000's with 2000's (despite having 9000's in stock) ... I was not impressed, but there isn't anything I can do to change Lex's mind. The 2000's are pretty poor in comparison.

    But it's their car .........

Anyway, keep an eye on those fitters when they are fighting with your new boots ....!! :geek:

  11. To make it worse the dashboard flashed something unfriendly to tell me the back wheels were spinning - I know it was I was driving it!!!

I love it when the light comes on like that .. by the time it's worked out you are skidding, you are generally requesting a change of underwear!!!!!

being a RWD it drives perfect in reverse

I'd sure get a sore neck driving to work in reverse .. don't think the old bill would be too pleased! :withstupid:

  12. Tut, I don't know you guys in the South, ttchh, get one day's snow and everything grinds to a halt, ttchh, you wanna try it up here in Scotland  - we get snow in June! (OK, not quite). Well we've officially given up on the Lex in snow - we've now got (well the wife has) a Honda CR-V for snowy days.

If only you were joking about snow in June ...... we've had snow flurries in June in Aberdeen over the last few years ....

Kinda narrows down the summer to a 3 month window .. July - September :withstupid:

  13. I made it in to work absolutely fine thanks to the Racelogic - this may be a good thing but to be honest I would have rather had difficulties and had a day at home

..... the only Lex owner complaining of not having their baby fling itself around in the white stuff!!! That's what happens when you spend all that money making it flash ... :hehe::hehe::hehe::hehe:

If it's like this tomorrow, I'm sure you'll find a reason to stay home .... :phone:

  14. but not so good for grip (particularly in the wet  )

you should try swapping the 9000's for 2000's!!! Absolutely no grip at all (miine is a company car so I don't get a say in what Lex Leasing put on it!).

At least the assymetrical pattern on the 9000's cleared some of the water!

  15. For what it's worth, I have Dunlop's SP9000 front/SP2000 rear, and they are quite noisy, and offer poor grip.

Would prefer to have Goodyears (personal choice) - or maybe try the pilots - anybody able to compare Dunlops/Pilots?

  16. I thought the point of the snow button was to allow some wheel spin on snow so that the car can find grip. Otherwise the traction control will cut in and reduce your power leaving you imobile.

Believe me, it lets your wheels spin .... so much that I couldn't move for 10 days .......

    Roll on the summer :geek:
