  1. LV= refused to insure my RX at any price and dismissed offers of trackers and physical deterrents. It is part of a multi car policy. I am not prepared to pay an extortionate insurance premium for a canbus design fault that in my opinion has not been properly sorted. So as much as I like my RX i was looking to come away from Lexus for this reason, but having looked seriously at other makes I am soon to be the proud owner of an NX450h+ Takumi. It won by a short head! See you on the NX forum !
  2. I am soon to be the proud owner of a 2022 NX450h+ Takumi. I did not want to part with my RX but I was not prepared to pay an extortionate insurance premium for a vehicle with a design fault that Lexus has failed to properly address. I looked seriously at other makes because I did not feel inclined to spend my hard earned cash with Lexus again but nothing quite fitted the bill. Thank you again for your replies.
  3. LV= were adamant about not providing me with insurance for my RX. They mention in their email that a tracker or physical security methods are not acceptable because they can be bypassed or overcome. I have spoken to LV this morning and they are willing to insure an NX 450h+ for a lesser premium than I paid for the RX last year which was £372.92 on a multi car policy, though the excess is £700. Thank you for all your replies.
  4. I was considering changing my RX450 for an NX450h+ and having received an email this morning from LV= who are refusing to reinsure my car, this process may have to be speeded up. The reason given was the CANbus theft defect. And there was no room for negotiation even though my car has had the plates fitted. Am I right in thinking that the NX450h+ is not affected by this issue, whatever the year ? Thank you for any replies.
  5. I had my plates fitted last year and I enquired yesterday when had my RX serviced what was happening re extra security etc. I was told that Lexus has a software update for the canbus issues and that it should have been rolled out at the end of April but it has been delayed and there is no confirmed date for it to happen. The "service advisor " confirmed that I was third on the list to have done. I think the answer is to pester your dealer so that you are informed when an update comes available
  6. I use a small Disclok on my 4th Gen Rx with a cloth "glove" which fits around the wheel under the Disklok to protect it
  7. My 2020 Takumi bought from a Gloucestershire main dealer came with a hand book. It has been a useful tome on many occasions !
  8. LV insured my 2020 RX450 last month for £373 on a multi car policy. Fully comprehensive but with a limited mileage of 5000 miles.
  9. I have been with LV for about 5 years on a multi car policy and this year in November my RX450 insurance went from £250 to £373. I know that I am knocking on a bit, live in rural Gloucestershire and mileage is restricted to 5000 miles, but I didnt think that was too bad. I was expecting a lot worse Owen
  10. I also had mine fitted today on both sides. It took Lexus Cheltenham longer than they thought, it was a good two hours and involved removing the front bumper and headlights. I was shown the plates. It was done FOC and I was impressed with the speed that this was actioned. Car was also cleaned.
  11. I wrote to Lexus UK yesterday morning explaining my displeasure at the number of RX450s being stolen. They replied yesterday afternoon stating that are no design issues and that the thefts were mainly around London and within the M25. I mentioned the fact that whilst we don't all live in that area, we may have cause to visit occasionally. I copied in my local dealer Cheltenham Lexus. Anyway I had a phone call this morning from the service department at Cheltenham saying they were expecting the part on Thursday and I booked in my car for next Monday to have it fitted FOC. I must say I was impressed.
  12. I like the idea of extra security, particularly the Ghost 2 immobiliser, but I have read on other forums that any start/stop device has to be turned off otherwise when one stops at traffic lights, for instance, and the engine cuts out you have to go through the whole starting procedure again ie entering your PIN. With our ICE constantly cutting in and out on the RX ,I wonder how this would work? Clearly you could not enter your PIN every time to restart the engine. Anyone any ideas?
  13. I have recently bought a 2020 RX450 and was wondering whether there would be a problem with connecting the 12v battery to a battery conditioner. I ask because I would just like to clarify that this would not affect the hybrid battery. The car will not be used that regularly and is garaged but I would like to keep the battery charged, particularly during this cold weather. Has anyone any thoughts please? Owen
  14. Hi I finally took the plunge and bought a 2020 RX450h Takumi from Listers ,aka Lexus Cheletenham, to replace my Jaguar F Pace 3.0. So far very pleased and still learning about all the equipment that is on the vehicle. It will not be used that regularly and in the past I have had my car connected to a battery conditioner with good results. Does anyone know if there is any reason why I cannot do the same with a Lexus? I ask because I do not know if the 12v (car)battery is connected to the hybrid system or if it works in a manner similar to a conventional ICE. Thank you in advance for any replies Owen
