Lexus quality and dealerships
fourbanks replied to David lings's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
People in the know let it be known of their professions in the chit-chat with the salesperson, so just subtle hints for going forward is my experience of the public -

Canterbury is one of the better dealers, so you should be OK. Tunbridge and Gatwick with the same manger just hit-and-miss just depends on who's in that day -

I have a very powerful friend executive, and he always gets perfect service from any dealer and gets way more than what you or i will get that's how it's always been, people like lawyers also get perfect service as do airline pilots and surgeons people like myself thou who are retired are far more likely to get poor service. -

IAN is the manager of both Tunbridge wells and Gatwick. He's not great as he's never around, overall all the dealers in the south of England are hit-and-miss, especially miss when it cones to any warranty work that needs to undertaken. Unless of course you have an executive job and if that's the case the service is perfect as the dealers like to stay out of court -
More time in the dealer than on the road

The car is new Bernard Steve, purchased in September 1st. The dealer would never deliver to an address from new, as it has to be inspected in the dealership and signed off. However, once it's been inspected by the owner it could then be driven to the owner's address that's the procedure I'm aware of that's what I believe has happened here, Steve's inspected it at the dealership and then someone has driven it over to his home. They have then left it on the road, Steve then came out to find it won't start, and a neighbour has then come along to help out. Not sure where the blank grease marks have come from, as the car collection staff for servicing at the dealerships are in general very good as for everything else on Steve's list that to me, seams like water ingress on the wiring harness having either been exposed to heavy rain or having driven through a large pool of flood water that would most certainly do it -
Electric cars risk becoming uninsurable (msn.com) well, it was fun while it lasted, but the reason I opted out was because of the much higher insurance and that and other concerns like the massive loss in trading in after 3 years of 50% didn't really justify me purchasing it, so on that basis it's not for me and i'm out Some customers are now being quoted over £100 a week to insure their electric vehicles, with others reporting premiums doubling or tripling compared to a year before.

There has always been a mismatch on the UX models from 2019 and is complete hit-and-miss on what you will get. i have the full premium pack with sunroof and CD player headlight washer but no heated steering wheel and I have to manually open my wing mirrors. Apart from that, I have the full specification

Indeed, Hugh, we need an update from Steve asap. I have a master Lexus technician friend Tim based at Lexus Gatwick for 20 years who should help you out if your local dealer can't for some very odd reason. All the Lexus Kent dealers should have at least one master technician employed, but for your problem at number 9 where burning is concerned unless very straight forward that would need to be addressed by head office only as a safety measure in case a full UK recall was needed -

I know all the Kent dealers of Lexus and although not perfect they would not entertain a Lexus with a smoke burning issue as that is a very serious matter the manager would need to report to head office for advice in going forward. The car would not be returned to the customer until that was fully resolved. As for the other items, Steve mentions these seam to be one of a water damp ingress somewhere along the wiring? Or it could well be a major fault with the Engine Control Module (ECM) -

9, regular smells of burning rubber/wiring that just in itself is most troubling and the car should never be driven. This needs to be addressed by head office in case a recall is needed at a later date for us all -

Hi Steve. Did you purchase this new from a Lexus dealer or direct from Lexus? There are a few poor Lexus dealers, but I know of none this bad in how you have been treated. Your dealer sounds to be very bad to a level not seen before as the car is in a very dangerous state and should not be driven at all As the car has caused you so many problems, the dealer should be able to take the car back as a lemon and replace it with a new vehicle. This is a first I have ever come across with a Takumi model. The dealer most certainly needs reporting to head office as there is no way Chris Hayes, the chief executive, would allow that car to be delivered in such a poor state -
Good to see that fixed it. 🙂

You will need to change your user password to at least 10 characters, as for some reason i had the same problem. Sticking @@ at the end fixed mine

Shock absorber failure at 13000 miles!
fourbanks replied to B1RMA's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Like all manufactures or those working for the council or social housing always a negative response by those who have grown up in a negative environment with nothing to offer, giving negative responses in a negative work place -

You can be assured that car warranties only cover the major fixed parts of a car and never wear and tear parts like shock absorbers, which are always down to driving on bad roads like in the uk -
Body coloured wheel arch trim
fourbanks replied to PaulWhitt20's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
I go with you, Gary. The roads where I live are not that great and any type of painted arch would get chipped and look a mess -

All ux with the dated trackpad have like mine have the black plastic trim. The logic here is to protect these areas from stone chips. Those with the touch screen models from 23 onwards don't have the black trim nor the wording down the side of the car hybrid. -
12.3 inch vs 8.0 inch infotainment screen
fourbanks replied to Pavan's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
Personally, i find that my lack of the heated steering wheel and for the wing mirrors to be operated manually to be an oversight, as there was no real valid reason for the admission for a top spec pack. The sunroof was an extra that the original owner had placed of which i had to pay for as they had cancelled the order just prior to taking delivery the week before I then come along thinking of many months of wait time if i placed an order only to be told i was in luck and that I could take delivery the following day so far so good with nothing of note to report on -

My UX with the top premium pack came with the sunroof. The only things i don't have is the heated steering wheel and the automatic folding wing mirrors, I have to do that manually everything else is there and works well i still have the CD player, don't forget, and the trackpad being of the 2018 design. i also have the well renowned Nickel-Metal Hydride Ni-MH batteries can withstand harsher weather conditions, from freezing winters to blazing-hot summers. This is why you’ll find them in the AWD Prius, which is a hybrid car that is great for snow states and desert states. -

What are the differences between the two as i never fully understood the differences -
Mine was a cancelled order last July. Otherwise, i would have had to wait till February this year mine is the 2010 spec at heart, really old-fashioned with the trackpad and CD player, which survived the 2018 upgrade from the higher spec cars in the Lexus range. I also have the old tried and tested battery pack Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries

Seeking Insights on Mysterious Front Tire Noise
fourbanks replied to Pooria's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
i have the same tyres as yours and to me, they are just like normal tyres. If your dealer thinks all is good, then I would just go to another Lexus dealer for piece of mind. Do not go to dealers such as Halfords as an unapproved dealer of touching the car could invalidate your warranty
