  1. Thanks, Paul/Andrew it's a bit of a blow coming from the mouth of one of the countries only Lexus master techs based here at Gatwick who i trust in a dealership which is chaotic at times 😞
  2. Thanks for your feedback. It did look slightly overfilled on my last service back in July, but to be honest my cars have always been slightly over in my lifetime of driving and never under there is defiantly petrol in there, that's for sure. i will take it in on Thursday to see what he suggests but in reality i think i need another oil change i'm not sure the cost of that but i need to be careful nonetheless
  3. Iv'e noticed this year that my oil reading is on the high side by 1 inch with 6 months to go till my next service. My dealer expert Lexus master tec Tim says it's normal as i don't do that many miles at 4000 a year. He says it's just petrol and condensation building up. I guess I will need 2 services a year in going forward?
  4. No bill, I'm told by family I'm the slowest driver they've ever seen 🙁
  5. Lexus presents a look behind the curtain with Akio Toyoda, Chairman and Master Driver. Ride along as he shares his passion for cars and the Lexus brand

  6. What's a good average tyre life on the Lexus UK models. i will only get around 10'000 miles, as that's about all iv'e ever got over the past 50 years. It's not great, but I guess that's the penalty of short journeys on bad roads
  7. The cost of the Dunlop is £225 plus vat and £15 for fitting at Gatwick. Luckily they can do it today as they have just 1 left in stock
  8. Thanks, Gary mine are Japanese made Dunlop and to me, they're good very quiet they have only done 5000 miles and still look like new. I think the bill will be around £200 for a straight swap. But will have to see what's available on the day. At least I'm only 1 mile from the dealer
  9. Iv'e just got a puncture on my UX and have lost just 6 bar, so not bad. The nail is quite big, so will leave in place till Monday and drive down to my dealer, hopefully for a replacement. Any idea of the cost of a new Dunlop fitted by the Lexus dealer thanks
  10. Tim is a master Lexus Technician at Gatwick. Danny is a good manager, so my advice would be to use this dealership for the cam belt replacement
  11. I never saw a need for a personalised plate as a person who has done 45 years of community service for free. Why create a problem with your car plate that will only create a focus point and someone then stealing the car at the end of the day thou each to his own ☺️
  12. Just to let you know that iv'e had a meeting today with Danny, the new manager. I found him to be extremely able in going forward and to build up a team that represents the best Lexus has to offer. So if anyone is concerned, their dealer is not up to scratch, then a visit to Gatwick would be a good idea. This dealership which used to be Toyota I never liked, but now they've merged with Lexus under a complete new leadership team I'm hoping things will get back on track and will visit on a regular basis to make sure that things are going to plan, and we are the best for service and not like in past second

  13. We used to have a salt water pool in hove, which was excellent. The salt water lido at saltdean is too cold for me at 19 degrees, so not really suitable
  14. Yes Malcolm swimming is key with arthritis/ bladder/ bowel piles / fissure conditions and for those swimming in the tropical sea daily a perfect fix for most conditions the Dead Sea, perfect for arthritis, so I'm told with regret, I can only manage a couple of trips a year so only get a little respite but thankful nonetheless my surgeon also says the same swimming, is by far the best
  15. All I know is don if I were the chief executive of Lexus things would be very different by a long shot, and we would be UK's number one brand that's for sure
  16. I see don, but at the end of the day my views are that Lexus staff aren't overall interested in customers, it's just a job after all. My local Kia dealer, which is a privately run family firm, have always run the business in the customer's interest so if a problem shows up it's dealt with asap or in my case over many years if I had a puncture they would send one of the staff out to my house within an hour. The manger for example would call in at Xmas with a card and a chat how am I doing, that sort of thing just some basic interest. Had Mitsubishi not gone bust, I would have stayed on. I was never a Kia fan as in the USA they always showed up with ongoing issues which put me off. Lexus or their staff are nowhere near the level of service I have had over the years and in my early days on the isle of wight Barry price, owner of price's garage was the very best iv'e ever encountered by a huge margin, and we became good friends. i had a shocking car at the time, the Austin princess 2.2 6 cylinder which always needed attention but Barry often working till 10pm still performed with a smile and never took advantage and ripped me off very often working on my car for free.
  17. There are no Lexus dealers or employees in this forum don as far as I know
  18. The main Lexus master tec is Tim, based at Gatwick, and would be prudent to discuss your concerns with him Tim will be able to advise you 100%, so you will know without doubt what is wrong and how to proceed
  19. Thanks, Steve, for the update, sad that you will lose out, but it's for the best as you can't be dealing with a poor dealer who has no real interest in you, so as you say it's time to move on
  20. Our local manager at Gatwick is nowhere near at a level of service like myself as he's never there and in turn that's creates a low staff morale in my opinion, so a visit is completely a hit-and-miss in how you will be treated most customers I’ve met over the years prefer myself to deal with as in that way they get all the answers and more and a friendly chat so at least they know in going forward and what to expect not only in the Lexus dealer but the other car dealerships sad to say I don't work in dealerships, so I always advise others be careful especially on price paid do your homework on all the other main brands so that you are confident in what prices of cars are across the board and are seen to be confident otherwise you will more than likely get a poorer deal the same goes with any warranty work need doing confidence is key or a good lawyer if a dealer can take advantage of you, he will be guaranteed we have a super local Kia dealer of the likes Lexus will never have. They're just a group of people that happen to work well with each other like when I had a puncture they sent a staff member to the house within an hour, UK Lexus would never do that under any circumstances.
  21. Thanks for the clarification Colin 🙂
  22. i used to drive a Mitsubishi 1500 4 cylinder which was fine, but a 3 cylinder I'm not so sure. Is the BX made in Japan, as it doesn't sound like it? Most manufactories from Japan source out 3-cylinder engines to South Korea
  23. Thanks for your detailed explanations 😃
