  1. I appreciate your help with this George, many thanks. I've sourced an ECU on ebay, will have a go at swapping it out next week, when I've got my car back. Cheers Stan
  2. I wonder if it could be the power steering ECU? Does anyone know how to test this please or it a case of swapping out with another (they are available on ebay)? Sorry if this is a dumb question?
  3. I've also found a website with a comprehensive selection LS400 wiring diagrams for $14.99 (£12) if that helps anyone else? https://portal-diagnostov.com/en/root/rukovodstva-po-remontu-on-line/elektroshemy/lexus/lexus-lexus-1999/lexus-lexus-1999-lexus-ls-400-1999/lexus-lexus-1999-lexus-ls-400-1999-lexus-ls-400-1999-all-wiring-diagrams/
  4. Many thanks Steve. Yep I've checked the fuses. I'll have a look at this tomorrow.
  5. Hi Gang, My steering motors don't work, its not the fuse and I've purchased two replacement motors they also show no signs of life. I guess it could be a switch problem? Does anyone have a relevant wiring diagram please?
  6. Hi Anthony, I like your theory, it could well be the case. I've replied to your message.
  7. Just found out installation alone costed £2-3,000 for the Talos.
  8. Pete, you are The Man! Wow! What the heck??? A bomb detector!!! I am flabbergasted. How on earth did you know that? I might well leave it in the car.

  10. Whilst trying to fix my leaking boot (again), I noticed two small silver oblong boxes taped to the metal under the spare tyre. Then when I took out the boot lining, I found a box with 8 serious looking connections under the parcel shelf. There are wires going everywhere. I also found a lot of wires with an Ericsson connector in the side of the boot, which are phone related. There was a Nokia phone mount in the centre console (now removed) and microphones in the front and behind the D/S rear seat. Some of the wires go under the carpets inside the car, in the front and rear, might be more blocks?? When I bought the car from Anthony (many thanks Anthony), he mentioned the first owner was a company Director in (the City) London, so I can only think its something to do with phone security? Has anyone got any better ideas?
  11. Agreed Malc. I do rather enjoy leaving impatient drivers in shock , after they underestimate just how much torque the 400 has, when she leaves them in her wake. Going up steep hills, at traffic lights, as two lanes narrow, any excuse really
  12. What a sickener, I'm really sorry to hear about it. Deepest sympathies.
  13. I’ve previously purchased Weathertech rubber cargo liners for a number of my cars, they fit perfectly. I contacted them in the US (as Weathertech Europe don’t have them), ordered two, then after a while they canceled my order (as they don’t like customers using freight forwarders?), instead they quoted to send them to me themselves and it virtually doubled the price!! So the reason for this post is, that I have found a UK based company (www.simplycarmats.co.uk) that Custom makes cargo liners and thought I'd share. I sent them a template and recently took delivery. It’s a reasonably thick, heavy, black rubber mat and whilst not quite as fancy as the Weathertech, it does the job well and I really like it. It cost me £37 & P+P (total £50), which was a shedload less than Weathertech :o) My contact is Dan, you can email sales@simplycarmats.co.uk

  14. I have just fitted new bonnet struts, perfect fit, seem very strong. So here's the link to where I got them from, just in case. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262798433773. seller is called light-hut
  15. Hi Steve. I cant seem to find him on ebay, please can you post a link for me? Many thanks
  16. My recently purchased UK LS has a severe leak into the boot. So I dried it out, parked it facing uphill, bought and used a car cover, while I travelled for a couple of months. Unfortunately I uncover it today and the swimming pool is back! I purchased the seals direct replacement before I left and added it today, so fingers crossed it works enough for me get it dried out get the other work done.
  17. Thanks George, I'm definitely going to look into this when I go back.
  18. In December I purchased the boot seal from Lexus Parts in the UK, they took my order and then a couple of days later returned my payment and told me it was discontinued.
  19. Hi All, Before I start trawling scrap yards does anyone know where I can source a "PRNDL" assembly please, for a 1999 LS400? Mine looks 'blown' and really detracts from the clean interior that otherwise shows little sign of of it 24 years age. Many thanks
  20. Hi Andrew, I bought a Halfords all seasons cover 3 months ago, as my LS400 had water ingress into boot and I needed to keep it dry, while I was travelling abroad. It did the job (and is a heavy cover) high winds caused it to lift off and set the alarm off a few times. So I applied a load of bungees, which help a bit. It did keep the car dry but it is a pain to keep the inside of the cover clean when you take it off and there is condensation.
  21. I'm very sorry to hear of your father's passing Sarah, my sincere condolences to you and your family.
