  1. This YT Video discusses this topic and shows two ways to delete / remove previous driver profiles.
  2. Maybe there is merit in restricting access... Maybe some air ride mods would help secure the vehicle 😉 Image stolen from a @Linas.Ppost June 2019 LoC.
  3. Good Point. Just like they do with Dash Cams! Against this is the fact that Lexus dealerships are notoriously conservative and fearful of adding something that splices into the CAN BUS network and potentially makes them liable for other issues that can or cannot be attributed to the CAN BUS immobiliser. This is all despite the fact that Ghost and Scorpion etc have Toyota accreditation (or claim to have). The issue of the Rear DASH CAM interfereing with DAB radios comes to mind where Dealerships refused point blank to install them till the Lexus gods approved it.
  4. @penioleGreat article. Thanks. You can counter these hacks given enough time and money but the crime syndicates will look for new options. Conflict and war has been instrumental in driving technology throughout history. Today Crime is equally driving technology forward. You claim to make something hack proof, the world will make a better hacker....
  5. In theory yes this could be dealt with by a CAN software upgrade to include CAN BUS message challenge-response authentication, however there is very little appetite in the automotive industry for manufacturers to do this : As mentioned else where in this thread, CAN BUS will be replaced by ethernet based wiring which includes much stronger software security options. A CAN Bus software update would need to be applied to all Electronic Control Units (ECU) in the vehicle and this would need to be validated by hundreds of different ECU manufacturers. A daunting task to get every one to work 100% with every one else and one that would take years to qualify. As the Ethernet solutions are developed and deployed into vehicles, the lessons learned with CAN Bus will be included. These new ethernet solutions will happen over the next ten years further negating any appetite of the manhufacturers to invest in legacy CAN Bus Security. Better physical security on the next generation of CAN BUS based vehicles is IMO the only option we can expect. Comment Manufacturers could still consider deploying GHOST II or Scorpion X or other CAN BUS immobilisers as a first fit at factory option, rather than leaving it to the owners to purchase as aftermarket options.
  6. Leoni EcoSense is an established supplier to the Automotive / eMobility industry including EV Chanrging cables. Headquarted in Germany. To my knowledge they do not offer an eCommerce / consumer supply option. https://www.leoni-cable.com/en/products-applications/charging-cables/ Leoni Brochure attached. Dekra is an Electrical Safety Checking and testing organisation. KEMA-KEUR is the testing and compliance standard. I can only assume EVC = Electic Vehicle Cable / Charging. https://www.dekra-product-safety.com/en https://www.dekra-product-safety.com/en/dekra-mark-kema-keur Hope this helps. e-mobility_electric_charging_cables.pdf
  7. FYI LexusPartsDirect are advertising both Lexus NX and NX Fsport Mud Flaps on sale: https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-nx-phase-2-front-and-rear-mudguards/ https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-nx-phase-2-f-sport-front-and-rear-mudguards/ They also are advertising boot liners, bumper protection film, and rubber floor mats.....
  8. Just released on YT: Car Care Nut review of the latest UX.
  9. My dealer was originally against fitting rear cams and took exactly the same stance as @hintonwood reported. In a recent discussion with the dealer I was told that Lexus has recently issued guidance on this and they were now confident to fit front and REAR with no impact to DAB performance. They then asked me if I wanted to upgrade my dash cam optional extra to both front and rear. Perhaps best to check with another Lexus centre for their take on this.
  10. During a discussion with my dealership last week (which deserves its own thread) the sales manager did state in passing that although Wireless Android Auto was origijnally hinted at for October 2022, they have now been told it is now Q4'2023. A full years delay. No mention of the reason for the delay.
  11. I swear by these lenses that your optician should be able to source, and most importantly they can be made for most prescriptions and existing frames. Hoya Vision Enroute Pro, speciality Driving Glasses. Not a cheap option but they are very effective with good reviews. Like others here the headlight glare at night is a problem and espeically in wet weather where the effect of glare is magnified. https://www.hoyavision.com/uk/vision-products/speciality-lenses/enroute/
  12. They arrange this for you if you place the order on line through their approved installer network and it is included in the price as stated on the web.
  13. I just had a good conversation with their support team and they confirmed the Scorpion X Immobiliser would prevent the vehicle being started in the event of the CAN BUS attack via the headlight mentioned in this thread. After my chat with them I am favouring a very attractive discounted deal with the Scorpion X immobiliser and S5 Thatcham Approved Tracker.
  14. Another option I have been looking into and comparing to the Ghost solution is 'Scorpion Automotive' UK Based, located Chorley, Manchester. I have a Scorpion S5 Tracker installed on my Audi. No compliants with this. https://scorpiontrack.com/vehicle-immobiliser/
  15. Yeah, it is kinda heavy for a Saturday evening and the post was not intended as dissaproval of your choice. If offence was caused I apologise and none was intended. I will continue to look at Ghost and other electronic security or mechanical security options with due consideration for long term warranty support which IMO in this instance has risk. For general reference and sharing of knowledge I can advise that the majority of semiconductor manufacturers are conforming to the government embargos and all sales of components into Russia are blocked, whether they are commerical, industrial, automotive or military. There is no allowance for the end market or product use. You are correct they can and do obtain devices by indirect routes but the semi vendors and government agencies are chasing these avenues down. This is really a serious topic in the semiconductor industry. The concern being the redirection of non military grade devices to the military sector. e.g. A microprocessor, memory or power device intended for a car security system, or a washing machine being found inside a drone or missile. The penalties at a company AND personal level for infringment of these embargos is significant.
  16. I spent some time looking at the Ghost II and more recently the Starline CAN bus car security solutions based on the positive reports for the Starline system here and elsewhere on the internet. However my background research suggests Starline to be a Russian company, HQ and production located in St Peterburg with most tech support being distributed accross mutliple Russian / CIS cities. With the current geo-political situation (Ukraine situation) and total embargo on all electronic components being shipped into Russia, personally I have my doubts about the viability of this system going forward. If someone could eliviate my concerns then this would be helpful. https://www.alarmstarline.com/about/ starline_catalogue.pdf
  17. Just had some good news via email that my car has left the factory. The Lexus Link App is also showing the same data. For reference, My order is for a 450H+ F-Sport Premium Plus, Sonic Titanium, Black Interior. Order Placed in mid May 2022. Extras requested, Towbar, Protection Pack, Ceramic Coating, Front Dash Cam (and Rear Cam if they will fit it). With transit time to Portbury and sometime at Derby for the Towbar, vehicle PDI and updates etc this will be a late March ETA at the dealership. Just at the right time to enjoy some spring and summer motoring on the new 23 plate. Happy Days!
  18. From what my dealer reported that there is a possibility that the car when built will be supplied with only one key fob and a second key will be provided later. (no time frame given). If you loose the first key fob in the interim period, I do not have any idea how Lexus will support you with that predicament.
  19. Thats exactly what my dealership advised me. My 450h+ F-sport ETA has been delayed to March / April and they also mentioned I would likely only get a single key fob with a 2nd key fob to be supplied at a later date.
  20. A big part of the issue comes down wireless certification and approvals. USA and Europe Radio Frequency bands for given functions are similar but not always the same. The processes and procedures to get qualified and ultimately have the products certified for release in the respective regions takes time and the procedures are very different in each region. Market size and politics is a big factor in manufacturer prioritisation. It is also generally accepted that the FCC (North America) certification is easier to obtain compared to EU certification. The EU certification is a consolidation of the approvals that were present in each EU member state prior to the formation of the EEC, hence it is much more detailed and even considerred far more bureaucratic. This applies to all equipment using the major frequency bands BlueTooth, Zigbee, RF4CE, DECT, WiFi, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G etc. I guess Lexus may be stuck in a the quagmire of EU bureaucracy and approvals testing.
  21. Expensive but are made to measure for the NX 2022. The dealership may be able to get a better / discounted price. https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-nx-phase-2-rubber-floormats/ https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-nx-phase-2-boot-liner/
  22. I am also a big fan of the Super Glue trick mentioned by @NemesisUK Check this YT video.
  23. This may help, 5 different solutions found on on the iFixit Channel Different Screwdriver Rubber Band Screw Extracting Pliers Superglue Rotary Tool
  24. Just had an email from my dealer advising that my NX450H+ F-Sport Sonic Titanium orderred mid May 2022 is now delayed to April 2023 (Last date was Feb 2023) Previous delivery advisories prior to this were October, November, December 2022 and in the last six weeks I was advised that ETA was Jan 2023 and then Feb 2023. AND just to add to the concern..... I have also been told in the same message that I might only be supplied One Key with the 2nd to be provided at a later date Just when I had that optimistic feeling that things may just be improving a little, Lexus completely destroyed my optimism and a sizeable part of my belief that Lexus is a reliable, customer focused, premium brand, in one single five line email from the dealership. No explanations, no reasons given just a short matter-of-fact message. Time to take a deep breath and wait a few days to calm down about before I fire off a complaint to Lexus UK. Your thoughts and view points would be appreciated.
  25. Interesting read from Automotive New Europe. https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/lexus-sees-tough-year-after-chip-crisis-russia-exit
