They cost £84 per alloy (£70 exc. VAT), which was reasonable considering my alloy/tyre insurance covered me for £150 per alloy.

On the basis that prevention is better than cure, I would suggest that this rim damage would have been prevented by fitting a set of Alloygators..That’s certainly been my experience!
Having now incurred the cost of a repair, it may be something you’d like to consider to help prevent further such damage.
I’m tempted and been looking at prevention measures but I’ve also got Alloy/tyre damage cover - which so far has paid itself off - with another 2 years coverage left 😅

Managed to get my alloys refurbed by a highly rated local outfit, Auto Wiz (Welwyn Garden City), happy with the results despite not being the exact match as OEM.

Hi all
Embarrassed to say it, but 3 of 4 of my (300h F-Sport) alloys have curb damage 😅 Thankfully I have Gard-X cover for the alloys, however, Gard-X won't be able to repair them with their mobile service, because they are "too damaged" and have instead asked me to get repairs done myself and they will reimburse me up to £150 per alloy.
Is there anything I have to be mindful of if I'm getting the alloys repaired?
Does Lexus offer alloy repair services? And if not, does anyone have a recommended garage/workshop in Hertfordshire/North London area?

Recall done today on my 2017 IS300h (facelift) by Lexus Hatfield.
Went in on reserve in the morning and came out late afternoon to my surprise with half a tank of free fuel
I was given the service lead’s own 2023 UX250h (Takumi) with 200 miles on the clock as a (free) hire car. Haven’t driven an SUV before so was a bit paranoid reversing into parking bays. It felt pretty nippy for an SUV and the hologram dash on the windshield was a cool gimmick.
I only live 2.5 miles from the dealership so they didn’t ask me to top up hire car’s fuel.
Sounded like they were done by midday and said it would be ready for collection by 3.30pm after a wash and polish. They flagged the front wiper rubber of my IS was coming loose, but were charging £72 for replacements - decided to do it myself and purchased the Denso’s for £27 from Euro Car Parts.
Overall was a good experience from Lexus Hatfield.

Hi there
I’ve recently had my 300h F-Sport serviced and for the life of me can’t figure out how to get the reverse camera video to display as widescreen when reversing.
I’ve played around with the settings and reread the manual.
I’ve tried hiding the side panel but when I put the car into reverse is displays as attached.
Not sure if the service technicians updated the navigation software. Does anyone knows how to change it so the reverse camera video uses the entire display?

Thanks all, I will definitely skip.
I'm bit of a dummy when it comes to DIY maintenance, are there any videos/instructions on how to replace the pollen filter on the IS300h or Lexus' in general?
Might get my brother-in-law to have a look he knows his way around Lexus' 😅

Cost... about £15? Satisfaction... priceless!

I have my 5yr service with Lexus Hatfield next week and they are charging £175 for an Air Conditioning Decontamination Service (add-on).
Do you think I should skip this and try the cleaner mentioned in the thread first?

Good to know, I'm booked in for a (5yr) service in October, think I'll hold out unless the odour gets worse.

17 plate, 8k mileage (acquired in May 22) is averaging 44.5 mpg. I drive mostly in Eco with a 60/40 split towards motorway driving.

Deviating a little, what products/methods do you guys use to clean the dashboard and non-leather interior?

Do you have a manual fold button on the dash?
If so fold the mirrors before switching off the car, and then press the button again once the car is powered down. When you go back to the car and start the engine, the mirrors open as you described above.
Thanks I’ll give this a go! I do indeed press the manual fold button on the dash.
I usually forget to close the mirrors (habit after 12 years push closing the mirrors on the Yaris) and with keyless off the process of getting to Accessory Mode can be cumbersome.

Hi folks
I’ve also recently acquired a 2017 IS300h (FS) and have some random questions from a month of driving it:
- I’m pretty sure my model doesn’t have power fold mirrors on locking the vehicle. But the mirrors did open once automatically when turning on the engine, does anyone know what triggered it?
- My previous Toyota Yaris had a neat coin holder that slotted into the cup holder, does anyone have an equivalent for their vehicle?
- I’ve turned off the keyless entry on my vehicle, is it fine not to use a Faraday pouch for the keys?
- From a MPG efficiency perspective, I’m I better off breaking early or taking my foot off the accelerator to slow down - I drive mostly in ECO.
Thanks in advance!

Hey Davey,
I own a 19 plate F-sport with 10 inch screen /nav which i think was called 'Premier pack' option when i ordered the car new in May19 and took delivery in July19. The book price for this at the time was £39,800 but im Scottish and only paid £36,500. Its hard to tell if your paying too much as the second hand car market has gone bonkers in recent times due to production shortages with new cars caused by global issues round the world.
Negotiation wise i found little joy, most dealers offered me zero discount whatsoever when i offered to pay cash, yet offered me £500-£2500 off when taking a PCP deal. Anyway i ended up buying mine from Lexus newcastle who i could not fault in any way whatsoever, great bunch of guys compared to the arrogance and inflated prices of the scottish dealers.
Rob
I’ve recently acquired my 17 plate F-Sport from Lexus Poole and there was no discount on my cash purchase, apparently they are not allowed to due to PCP regulations (which sounded like bull).
Got free 125 miles delivery to Hertfordshire though.

Removing paint splatter
in Lexus Car Care & Detailing
Posted
Hi everyone, I’ve managed to get paint splatter along my O/S rear and front by the wheel arches.
I probably ran over a tin of white gloss paint 🤦🏽♂️
I’ve managed to carefully scratch off the paint from the exterior bodywork (plastic bumper panel) however the wheel arches and tyres are stained. What do you think are my options to remove the paint from the wheel arches. Should I also do something about the tyres too?
