hi. would anyone be able to tell me if i can buy standard wiper blades for my IS or if i need lexus ones. also my brake pads feel like they are on their way out, do standard pads fit or do i need lexus ones. has anyone got any idea on how much i should be paying to get them fitted. cheers
As regards the brake pads why not try EBC greenstuff they are very good they have more bite and are alloy freindly producing almost no dust :)

please, don't use wd-40 alone since this stuff removes the grease and make it dry. use first some wd40 to clean it and later cd-90 (chain & drive lubricant).
thanks for that mate ill give it a blast in the morning :D

I was informed by Nottingham Lexus today that my coolant is leaking.
What is a Coolant bypass hose, where does it fit and how diificult is it to replace?
Hi there mate just had a look on mine if it is the metal pipe leading from the water pump then it looks easy to fit. Worth doing it your self to save on the old £££ .Im sure you work near me see you going past doitall most mornings. Mines the silver 200 sport nice motor mate like your style B)
Oh yes, I do see you most mornings, you're the one with your fog lights on.....
Wow, someone recognised me. I'll give you a wave next time.
It's not metal mate, it's the rubber pipe. I've had a look today and I think I know whch one it is. I'll replace it myself and save a fortune. :P
Thats me mate which rubber pipe is it ? ill refer to mine next time bonnets up

:D Hi to all just to say a happy new year to all at loc and all its members.
Also a big thanks to all that have helped and supplyed info to help with problems.
-
They are the same stud fitment PCD So they will fit on. Just check offset
but I don't think you will have a problem.unless you have very wide tyres on them. They should fit straight on.
thanks mate was hoping they would dont know how much they are new or if they are still avalible but they should look rapid!!! :D
-
Hi all does anyone know if the early type gs300 sport wheels would fit a is200?
are they the same fitment?

I have this unit which works well, support all the protocol standards, is nice and cheap with the current exchange rate and arrived within a week.
http://www.obddiagnostics.com/
You do need a computer to use it, stand alone units are available but are much more expensive. There are also kits to use with PDAs available.
Part of OBD-II specifications is that a diagnostic socket must be available within 1m of the steering wheel and no screws/bolts need to be removed to gain access. Toyota normally put them very near to the bonnet release.
cheers to the both of you just found the other socket hiding under the dash will have a good look on the internet :D
-
Not on UK IS200s as the vehicles are fitted with OBD-II diagnostic system. You will find one of the pins you need to short together is not connected on the diagnostic socket.
The JDM Altezza RS200 (don't know about the AS200) can use the method you describe.
cheers mate do you know of a company that sells fault code readers for uk lexus models. Is there any other diagnostic socket anywhere other than under the bonnet?
-
hi all i have heard from a reliable source that if you bridge two of the pins on the diagnostic socket the engine light will flash a certain amount of times to reveal fault codes.Count the flashes to find the codes can this be done has anyone done this and if so which two pins. Cheers guys and gals

was hoping someone might have some idea as to why my w reg 200 sport will not start sometimes. It was only once at first but has happened twice in the past three days.It will eventualy start after 3 or 4 times (any suggestions would be greatly appretiated)
When you say 'will not start' do you mean ...
1) Doesn't turn over at all.. like a flat Battery.
2) Turns over ok but doesn't fire.. maybe eventually does after a few goes.
A bit more info might be useful before dumping a possibly ok Battery.
number 2 mate its a bit strange because the spy glass is blue which would indecate its allright but is this a true indication?

i think you can get Bosch from Halfrauds
cheers mate ill have a good look around luckily im in the trade so should get some discount off retail

check the grounding for the car if you can...chassis earth and battery, if one has a fault could prevent the car from starting...either that or check the starter motor ? ?
Bout 3 months back my battery terminal became lose and after accelerating would lose contact. when i went to start again it wouldn't...
worth a try maybe ? ?
cheers my freind ill try it out (super looking motor by the way BEAutiful!!)
