  1. Ed- I guess, looking where we both live you went to Porsche at Reading. My experience there was completley different.Excellent salesman, knew when and what to say,not over pushy, but was capable of closing a deal. The majority of staff there were very good;went out of their way to show me round the whole operation(they prepare all the 911 cup racers there and service/store all the high end models GT1,Carerra GT etc.) They even made me a set of grilles for the lower front radiator intakes for my Cayman--at a reasonable(for Porsche) price.Otherwise they were bloody expensive..but you get what you pay for.. DAVID
  2. Have a look at Carlinkit 4.0 I've just bought one for my RC300h with the ML infotainment. It is meant to convert the infotainment system to Wireless And.Auto (I couldn't get my Motorola to connect via cable to AA).It works..up to a point in that I can finally get AA to connect and play music from my phone, but at the moment the car's touchpad won't interact with the Carlink dongle.I have emailed Carlink, but so far don't have a solution(their helpdesk appears to be in China so there is a time delay they reply to me at night,,and my reply to them arrives in their night....) You will see the thing is not much bigger than a credit card, about 1/4 inch thick and just plugs into one of the usb sockets in the armrest cubby. It is also considerably cheaper and simply plugs and plays..sort of...I'll let you know as soon as they answer my email about progress.
  3. I must have been one of the earlier WFH s,probably from around 2005,complete with dial up internet and patchy Vodafone signal. From the very start,I converted an outbuilding to my office, rather than working off the dining room table. That was the key to success for WFH...finish work and walk away from it,although I couldn't find a pub on my way down the garden. About 5 years later, all 300 of my colleagues got booted out of their offices and had to WFH.Luckily 2 years later the company "rightsized" and I gave voluntary early retirement careful consideration for about a second or two and went.
  4. That was a busy track, confusing to keep up with different classes.
  5. Try a Mazda 6 estate. I bought 2 new Mazda's MX-5 CX 7 when I retired kept both for 9 and 10 years respectively no problems whatsoever. Highly recommend.
  6. That looks really smart.A clever and tasteful way to refurbish worn trim, without overkilling the carbon fibre. Can I ask where you get it from and is it easy to apply? Is it self-adhesive or do you stretch and heat treat it? David
  7. Yesterday, whilst driving my tyre pressure yellow warning light came on.I scrolled to the TPMS screen and it showed blank for all four.Pulled into first layby, got out and looked at all four tyres, kicked them all and saw no obvious problem.Got back in the car, switched off, then back on 10 seconds later...warning light gone and all four pressures there on screen. No recurrence when out today.Has anybody had a similar problem? Car is a 2020 RC 300h f sport, tyres all good condition, car not overloaded..3 up..and was driving at about 70 mph on a carriageway.
  8. That was a stroke of luck then...
  9. I think the last time we saw John was shortly before his death, probably the same tour. Have you ever seen Doug Macleod?we,ve seen him twice at the Anvil. You can,t be far away..I,m near Kingsclere, halfway between Newbury and Basingstoke.Do you still play?
  10. You're right there Mike. They don't make them like they used to.Saw them both down the road in Basingstoke. They get a few good acts there. I also met John Renbourn there--yet another good, modest bloke, sadly no longer with us. David
  11. I,ve not met him.I did see him play in Bath in the mid to late 90,s in a small hall, sat at a table right at the front and felt every vibration.Couldn,t see across the room for cigarette smoke. It was when he was R F and the Blue Line. interesting that he,s not a nice person. The only 2 I,ve spoken to..Albert Lee and Joe Brown were both really pleasant, modest and likeable...if different musical styles.
  12. haven't listened to him for ages now.Just found a recent new album nd this track sounds good (looks like he's found one of Paul Macartney's old hair dyes...)
  13. The "chrome" trim on the. RC 300 f sport has a bronze colour finish. It might be possible to get that from Lexus if someone didn't want to go down the wrap route.
  14. Sorry, lost a paragraph there..The videos are on You Tube. David
  15. Malcolm There are a lot of videos on you tube relating to self installing dashcams. As Herbie says it is fairly straightforward.I managed to do it successfully and I'm a complete Frank Spencer. All you will need is a basic multimeter,under£10. And a pair of long nose pliers. By far the best video is by "Craig's DIY" He appears to be in New Zealand, but "speaks the Queen's English" He fits to a Mondeo but the principle's the same. Also search for fitting a Blackvue d.cam to a Lexus RCF a white one.can,t remember the guy,s name. David
  16. I think Citroen had it on one of their models. Can't think of any other reason to buy one.

  18. P.S. do you think it has been funded by Autoglass Windscreens?
  19. Well it won!!!!!!!! Apparently the fan is so effective that it would stick to the ceiling, even when standing still. They can be road registered but no mention of price I suppose if you,ve got to ask, you can,t afford it....
  20. Probably not a good idea to drive too close to one...if you could catch it.
