  1. The only complaint with my ML is that on some(particularly bassy)tracks the rear view mirror vibrates slightly to the music.Just noticed it for the first time today.
  2. Yup.they are very good at threatening/leaning on people so they get their way.
  3. Wait 'till the big national builders tweak the Government..they will soon jump on the shovel.
  4. Yes,one of the best,if not the best female singers - ever.I remember Terry promoting her years ago..still miss his sense of humour in the mornings..I don't know what he had in his tea but it must have been good.
  5. agreed. It's from a double album called "Nightbird" some of her old ,well known tracks and quite a few more obscure tracks that are new( to me).Recommended.Cd seems in low supply-I bought it on download.
  6. Just uncovered this track that I had never heard before and It was written by Doug MacLeod(a few of his other tracks posted previously)..The attached quote is interesting.. From an interview with Doug MacLeod, who wrote Nightbird. Interviewer: Your songs have been recorded by many artists, so which are your favorite interpretations? Doug: I have a couple of favorites. One was Eva Cassidy’s version of Nightbird. That song is about a prostitute, a prostitute that I used to live with who really watched out for me. I have no idea if Eva Cassidy knew what that song was about and I never heard it until my wife played it for me during a drive to Los Angeles from San Luis Obispo. I’m a huge baseball fan and my team, the Cardinals from St Louis, were playing the Dodgers and I wanted to listen to the game. My wife said “I got something for you to hear”, and I said, “But the Cardinals are on” and she said “This is more important than the Cardinals” and she put this CD on of Eva Cassidy. I tell you, it moved me so much, I pulled over to the side of the road and I was weeping. I have never done that song again. When people ask me to do Nightbird, I tell them that if they want to hear THE version, she is the one to listen to. And then of course she died before I got a chance to meet her to ask her how she interpreted it like that. By way of contrast here's the original --(special 2 for 1 offer )
  7. Re Bridgestones By accident or design or fate..my last 4 cars have all had Bridgestones.Current car-Bridgestones- had it for 6 months now..no problems. Previous 2 (Maxda CX7 and Mazda MX5 bought new in 2012 and 2013.both had Bridgestones no problems at all.Indeed the MX5 still had it's original tyres with reasonable tread left and NO cracking -main dealer kept saying they're getting old, you'll need to change them soon, but every year on they were fine.I did keep a very close eye on them for longitudinal cracking in the grooves . |Before that a new Cayman with Bridgestones -I can't remember how many back tyres I got through-a combination of punctures and wear. The fronts were better no punctures, but they did crack longitudinally between the treads and needed to be replaced.
  8. I looked at mine today and found something I had never noticed before.Accident Assistant, choose 2nd from left on bottom bar--3 horizontal lines, takes you to services and bottom option. It shows exact location text and map/correct time of when some stupid woman drove into the back of me. It even gives a bar chart of the severity of the impact--28/100 absolutley accurate and may be useful if you forget some aspect of the incident.
  9. If you could easily get the shroud off the top of the column you might see what is rubbing and adjust or lubricate. Before that though try to see if you can see anything,by looking behind the steering wheel, possibly with a mirror. You could also wait and see if anybody else, more mechanically minded has a better idea.Good Luck.
  10. The memory from about 40 years ago still works!!!I'm sure I might still have an old photo of it somewhere. If I find it I'll post it. It was around that time another neighbour bought himself a new Escort RS2000 I think--never took much interest in Fords-it had those fishnet inserts in the headrests--Red with a Black vinyl roof. Anyway, one day it was parked on his drive, spotlessly clean and only a few weeks old.He climbed up on the porch roof/flat roof of the garage to gloss paint his first floor windows (you'll probably guess where this is going..) and dropped a medium sized tin of Brilliant White on the car bonnet and it spattered everywhere over the car and drive, garage door(It wasn't white either). Even I learnt a few new swear words and I never had the heart to ask him whether he claimed on the insurance.
  11. Something is obviously rubbing/catching on the back of the steering wheel/coulmn shroud. It could be heat expansion, plastic parts are prone to this--listen to your plastic guttering at home when hot sun suddenly appears from behind the clouds. Alternatively,I thought I coud hear a cat miaowing quietly in the background,so you might have pussy problems...
  12. Mazda offer ventilated seats on their top spec models eg Mazda 6,Cx5 and the newest sub.. CX 60?
  13. One of my neighbours, back in the early 1980's bought a primrose yellow S3 E type roadster with the FU2 plate..I seem to remember that it was owned by Billy Smart at the time but as it was long ago I could be mistaken.I think the reg no mustn't have been included in the sale as the car went to a regular reg. no. soon after.
  14. I fired them off an email after looking at your experience asking for their returns procedure.I,ll see what ,if anything ,happens. In the meantime,as my Motorola won,t connect to And Auto,I've copied all my music over to a basic Samsung I got for my wife and she can,t even switch on (dementia,I,m afraid)so she's gone back to the old Nokia pushbutton and she,s perfectly happy with that. The Samsung works a treat in the car so sod off Carlink. It's completely wrong that the likes of you and I get screwed on these things..there are bigger things to worry about.
  15. Herbie I,ve just watched your video of the carlinkit installation.Whilst my device was different, the lack of control in navigating around the screen was very similar. Did you ever get yours sorted out? David
  16. I'm starting to find that out.It will be on a slow boat back to China before long.
  17. To give you some idea of how much you can put on your phone (or other device) ,I have apprx 680 music tracks on my phone-taking up apprx 17GB. I would recommend Musicolet as a player app for your phone. It is free, doesnt have any adverts,is entirely offline and the app only takes 22MB to run. It's fairly simple to install and set up..highly recommended.
  18. You might want to put this suggestion on hold,as Carlinkit aren,t being very forthcoming as to when they can or will fix the problem. I sense a trip to the Post Office is coming...
  19. They are probably down to rickshaws now.
  20. I should think the average North Korean would be lucky to have a plate to eat off, let alone put on his car/rickshaw/bicycle/donkey..wait a minute he ate that last week.
  21. You mentioned a bygone era..I ordered my car from them in2006 so I suppose things change as time passed. They did try selling me finance but, apart from my house mortgage,I have always saved for things-even highish ticket items like cars.."If you don't have it in your back pocket, don't have it."
  22. My wife and I both had cheapish personal plates --Character/single digit/DCM/DBM a long time ago but we thought they were a bit pretentious,so we traded them in for some completley random dateless plates-digit digit digit character character character. Eventually I ended up buying a Lexus, which might start to make my plate *** USU look a bit pretentious again. To get back to the original thread of this,I have used Elite Registrations in Devizes each time--very straightforward and sensible people to deal with--no silly prices, good people to deal with.
