Delayed delivery
NiCoRe replied to David Williamson's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Same thing here in France. My NX450H+ was delivered in ZEEBRUGE (Belgium) which is the entry point for continental Europe around March 23th. I will pick it up on April 22nd. Lexus Europe and Lexus France seems to have very poor tracking system. At the very least it is not a "real time" one and seems to rely on some kind of half cooked spreadsheet and manual updates. My sales rep ,under polite but firm pressure, spend a significant amount of time tracking the location of the car between Zeebruge, Valenciennes (Lexus France staging Area), Dealer's preparation site... On top of that, logistics are in dire straits in France. -

The wait is (almost) over My sales rep called me during lunchtime (and you know that it is pretty important stuff when someone calls you during lunch in France). My long awaiten 450h+ will be at dealership next wednesday and ready for delivery for saturday 22nd Happy ! -
Physical security
NiCoRe replied to Al D-Much's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Well a padlock can be pretty easily opened and a chain cut with modern tools (and not so modern ones) Plus I would be concerned with potential scuffs caused by the setup on the interior trim. I doubt that piano black plastic and soft touch material cope well with hardened and unprotected steel. All safety device can be circumvented..you are just adding time and effort for the potential thief in order to deter him (and alas make him pick another easier target) -
Clarkson review of the NX 450H
NiCoRe replied to John Adams's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
What's funny with these door handles is that Tesla did something even weirder on its Model 3 with a separate switch and it has been branded innovative an not a single reviewer complained really about it (or the external contraption which is used as a door handle). It's not even coupled with a safety feature which is in my opinion a nice thing to have in this age where bicycles / trottinettes are pretty much everywhere (at least in Paris area, you can find them on sideways, going wrong way on the street...). -

I've opted for the Artago 870 which combines physical security with an additional alarm... I will probably also add a tracker on it Other mods are prohibited for me as it is a long term rent car... -
From the YouTube channel LFST, a 12 month review in an "virtual interview" format pointing out discrepancies on NX between markets And for you listening pleasure, native English speakers, a delicious French accent which may remind you Peter Seller's on in his Inspecteur Clout roles (Pink panther films serie)

NX 2023 delivery date
NiCoRe replied to Chance521's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I do not know car companies that are building cars in a pure first come / first serve model. They usually try to predict the mix of RHD / LHD cars + trims and options they will have to produce and organize production (and procurement) to meet these forecasts. Ordering a statistically "rare" combination will set you in a specific waiting list or even a "special order" which must be squeezed into the production schedule Europe is seen by Lexus as a priority market for 450H+ . You can correlate that with the taxation policies followed by different countries. In France, for example, half of new cars are bought by companies which will get tax exemption if they purchase PHEV cars, free registration and weight tax exemption. The taxation policies are also making impossible for Lexus to sell a 350H AWD as the price gap becomes marginal vs. the 450H+ and as the 450H+ TCO will be better -> this is the situation we have on this side of the Channel and it made Lexus France cut the 350H out of its line up except the FWD in an entry level trim). ThiOn the other hand the 350h is a more "global" vehicle sold in every Lexus markets. I do believe that many other continental Europe countries are in the same predicament. This shifts the sell mix more heavily to 450H+ and then influence the production allocation in return 350H is also a global vehicle which is sold in every markets around the globe and is in high demand pretty much everywhere. Ontario factory only provides 350H for North America and Japanese factories have to build for the rest of the world. For many months, these factories experienced production suspensions (sometimes equivalent to 40 % of the production time) . Situation returned to "normal" on production side only by the very end of 2022 / early 2023. So yes a combination of factors, including revenue optimization, are working to have tremendous waiting time for the 350h for us in Europe and RHD markets may be in a more dire situation than LHD ones (as they compete with LEXUS home market for allocation) -
That is specific to some markets. Nothing like that in France.

For sure, this will be a nice stop gap mesure

It may have to do with the technical architecture of a CAN Network. IIIRC its topology is a bus one, meaning that all ECU share the same line of communication. The communication protocol is also asynchronous with a priority system between ECUs, meaning that simultaneous messages from different ECUs will be transmitted following a pre-determined order. Morover, CAN messages have an embedded id which allows ECUs to identify the messages they have to process. Seems to be a rather complicated to improve it via software update only

How they handover a Lexus NX in Japan…
NiCoRe replied to Andyml's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Well I doubt that I will be welcome this way in a few days... I will have to go through the return process of my current car (which includes a long tour / debate on the bodywork and interior state plus form filling -3 times the same). I've heard of complimentary basket with nice edible stuff to eat and drink in some dealerships (after all we are in France, let us keep the one thing that still works in this troubled country). I do however hope to skip the red gift ribbon which looks quite awkward. I will keep you posted on my experience. -

I think it was on the Morning Clara (at least my most probable candidate). It does take a couple of days from ZEEBRUGE to LEXUS FRANCE main staging area and then around 7 days to get to the dealership holding area (outside Paris for me) and get the paperwork done. Candidate #2 would be the Georgia Highway which was in ZEEBRUGE 5 days after Morning Clara. Morning Capo won't be in Zeebruge before 10 days or so -
NX450h+ charging cable
NiCoRe replied to Harry Junior's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Thanks for the tip on the charging cable, as long as it can safely provide up to 6,6 kw, it should work as a dream. Some OEM cables are limited to 8 or 10 Amps and may cap the power delivery regardless of what kind of plug you have installed. For us with 220V as standard, this 10 A cables will give you a max 2,2 kw. I will probably go for a 16A cable which will allow 3,6 kw power max and extract the most of my 14 A plug. Dealers are very very optimistic ! I ordered my 450H+ takumi on February 14th 22. It has been manufactured in late February 23 and will be delivered for final preparation to the dealership this week. Il will be a 14 months waiting time for me. Waiting list is long everywhere (and even closed in Australia as they cannot guarantee delivery in a 24 months waiting time). Rhythm seems to pick up a little but the new RX with the same powertrain and infotainment will compete for the same building parts. I would set my expectations to a more realistic 12 months waiting time -

I think mine has been build in late February 23... as I will be delivered around mid April. Definitely not a MY24 but as a Takumi trim, it will probably gets the 360 camera. -

That is hard luck ! Hope you'll still enjoy your ride @Klaudiusz -
I do reckon that a post retirement road-trip or even any road-trip should be an occasion to enjoy the travel per se...I feel truly sorry for both of you. Exchanging with French owners wo live in the Alps, they have use pieces of clothes to protect the handle, even some insulation foam to enclose it and hair dryer at low temp to get the latch working. Not very premium indeed. Some already managed to get their handles replaced with apparently modified system. On the Lexus Link front, I think they wanted to do too much too fast (not very much the Toyota way)... BTW, congrats to Ireland for its 2023 6 Nations Grand Slam...See you for the World Cup this fall !

nx 300h 12 volt battery
NiCoRe replied to Medora's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Well, "pardon my French", if may say so ! 😇 "on collection was told battery ok and that RAC “did not know how to check these batteries "' I read your post probably too fast and understood that your Lexus dealer gave you the feedback on your traction battery only as no one can reasonably states that RAC doest not know how to check 12V batteries. -

NiCoRe replied to Medora's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
RAC or any "side of the road" assistance service will never check a traction battery health (the high voltage one which is used by EV mode). They can and will check the 12 v battery. You need special equipment to check the traction one and that is what the dealership does during scheduled maintenance. -
nx 300h 12 volt battery
NiCoRe replied to Medora's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
If it is still the original one, it is over 7 years old... Nothing abnormal considering the small size of 12v batteries on hybrids to have it replaced by a new one. You can also use a trickle charge system (if you have one) to try to extend its lifespan -
NX450h+ charging cable
NiCoRe replied to Harry Junior's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
This is probably why, I will setup a "permanent" cable on my own EV charging plug (220 V / 14 A) with a hook to store it neatly and keep the other nicely tucked in the Lexus provided cable bag -
I would first have a polite chat with my Lexus dealership. It seems that they are aware of the issue which has been reported in all cold climates. It seems to be related not only to temperature but also to the fact that some water may gets under the rubber pad and freeze. So a dry minus 5°C could leave the door fully functional and a not so cold but wet - 2¨C plus wind chill could stuck the opening mechanism. They will probably try their best to find a solution. Some drivers have had their opening mechanism changed for a revised / new version. Considering the record of Toyota group regarding to quality management, I have no doubt they will fix the issue. Lexus Link is glitchy, that is a fact but it seems there are recall campaigns going on with some updates made by the dealership on top of OTA updates. User feedback reports improvements They will probably try their best to find a solution for both of your issues. Some drivers have had their opening mechanism changed for a revised / new version. Considering the record of Toyota group regarding to quality management, I have no doubt they will fix the issue.

nx 300h 12 volt battery
NiCoRe replied to Medora's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Charging the traction battery does not charge your 12V battery. And as illogical as it seems at first, 12v battery may be drained when you leave the car plugged because, it is used to keep the charging controllers "awake" through the process and will keep them "on" as long as the car is plugged (even when charging is over). 12 v battery is used to start the accessories of the car and make it ready to start rolling. It gets recharged when you drive the car long enough : in EV mode by draining a tiny part of electricity from the traction battery in HV mode when the ICE is on It charges very slowly in order to get the longest battery life possible (as in any car) YouTube LFST made a pretty interesting video when his 12V battery died https://youtu.be/7OtsgIpe3CQ -

Thanks Andy ! I guess I can start counting days rather than months now ! I can hardly wait to drive my long awaited NX on the nice country roads of my beloved Normandy (which looks pretty much like South England but with a little bit more sun).
