  1. The one key fob trick is said to be temporary due to chip shortage. Every car delivered with only one key will get the second one in the future
  2. As a 450H+ driver (and an original 350H would be buyer - I switched because of taxes and incentives making the 450H+ cheaper in the long run than the 350H) I am in line with your 6 points (should we call that an inline 6 😇) On your negatives : 1. you should wait a few more months for a "real" mpg average. You are still in somewhat cold and wet days (unless climate change is already at full force, I do not recall London as a particularly hot and dry place in March / April. The car is also probably in the breaking period 2. Piano black is a chore. There is protection film avalaible on the internet rather easy to set up but they gave me the feeling of driving a "tester" with its protections on. I suggest if you get fit and finish issue to report them to your dealership (or a different one...cf. your #5 point) 3. The safe exit has a sensibility setting, did you try to tweak it ? The push to release branded as non intuitive makes me smile a bit as most popular Tesla cars (models 3 and Y) use a push to open button placed in a very awkward position (or an extra long finger ET style) and no one called them counterintuitive. A mere 3 second speech, you push to open and in the same move, you continue to push your door, way more "intuitive" than the habit we all took with mechanical handles. 4. This may be specific to LEXUS UK as LEXUS France is pretty much in an "all inclusive" strategy with little option choices. 5. Well I hope you can find another one
  3. Played that game for a few month (just have a look at my signature) and turned it into a recurring joke. Polite but firm and continuous pressure on my sales rep is a way to spend time (with making list of all the accessories you will ad).
  4. Hello Alistair. Waited 14 months for my current Lexus (and I had to extend my long term lease of my former company car which was quite a hassle...) In France, PHEV models of every automakers (even the less engaging models) are on long waiting list (10 - 18 months). For example the revamped DS7 got a "la premiere edition" that is yet to be delivered to customers who bought it. Volkswagen PHEV (which are way less efficient than the NX or its cousins RAV4 and ACROSS) are only avalaible from stock. Dealers do not take any orders... BMW, Mercedes and Audi are playing option lottery : you can order a car with 360 cameras and a HUD and it could be delivered without and depending of the brand / option , you either get a partial refund or they have it set up by the dealership someday. I can only say, if you liked the car, hang in there...it is worth the wait.
  5. I'm afraid not. Toyota lawyers red tape I believe
  6. First serious journey with 270 km including 230 of motorways... The car and I are just getting used to it, so it's a case of "qui va piano va sano". The weather wasn't great but the traffic flowed smoothly so it was ideal for testing the adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, lane changing assistance...and the accuracy of the speedometer. Start with 4 passenger, trunk quite full (with its first plants). The battery is half charged and once on the A14 motorway I switch to hybrid mode to conserve energy for my final stretch of road. Driving behaviour: It steers a little less well than the Passat which was longer but all in all it makes up for it in urban driving. Not too big a gap in width and the higher stance helps. The steering is sufficiently consistent in normal mode and it's in keeping with the car's mass for me. No unnecessary effort but I feel the direct link to the wheels...in short a natural and pleasant feeling. There is a recovery, even if it is true that for an old DSG driver, the sensation is fundamentally different and even surprising. The take-off at the toll booth is a joy. No worries on the hilly and slightly turning part of the A13 Motorway (Paris --> Normandy), it drives at least as well as the Passat in "normal" mode A bit of road noise on average roads but no more than with my previous self-sealing tires . Driving aids Finally the HUD helps well and the logic is very similar to VAG's. I will soon get used to the ergonomics. However, the lane-keeping system coupled with the capacitive steering wheel and the lane change assistant is clearly a step above the Passat (which was already very good)... It's great on a motorway with light traffic The lane-change assist didn't surprise or bother me on a country road. Passenger feedback Very positive. Wife took advantage of it to sleep in the cool of the night Consumption: headwind , at 120 kph regulator (118 real), rain, 4 PAX, a small 6.5l per 100 and the end of battery on the last kilometers In one word : Delighted Currently charging, some points of progress noted: - a longer type 1 cable, the one delivered is nice but short (order a 12 m long model after block it will be more practical) - have the electrician connect the reinforced socket (he installed it and the secondary panel but did not connect anything...)
  7. Thanks for the info Taxis are already usine mainly hybrids (lots of Toyota and quite a few Lexus), delivery vans are switching to Electric buses are not concerned but they are replaced by hybrids and electrics (same for police cars)
  8. Thanks John , 4m66 is 10 cm shorter than my previous Passat SW but I do agree that it is still a rather large beast. I will post shots side by side with our little PANDA 4x4. I hope that you gain in sunny days what you lose in parking space !
  9. Thanks Bernard, I do agree, this is one of the best color / trim combo in my opinion 😁. I walked in the dealership with "Payne Grey" (1L1) or "Titanium Grey" (1J7) in mind and black / white trim. I saw it in its full glory in the showroom and changed my mind instantly. LEXUS is a "small" brand in France. They sell roughly 5000 to 6000 cars per year. I do expect to explain quite often what the car is as it stands out in a swarm of 3008 / 5008 and to a lesser extend SPORTAGE/ TUCSON / RAV4 / CAPTUR It has great success with the taxi drivers (lots of ES300h) and is a "less in the eye" alternative to BMW / AUDI / MERCEDES and VOLVO for executive company cars but has to fight the DS 7 ETENSE which promotes its "French" roots to fleet managers (even if Stellantis is partly owned by Chinese company). All modes are quite popular within the Japanese car fan base and second hand market is pretty active. Is the situation the same in Nederlands ? ( username based assumption)
  10. After a 14 months wait, yesterday I was finally able to lay my hands on my LEXUS NX 450H+ Executive trim (Kaki / Beige combo - see pics below). My home is near La Defense, 6 km away from the Champs Elysées where I work, and this gives me the privilege to live in a Low Emission Zone called "Grand Paris" (Last time that someone used this expression, he wore a little moustache, had a pretty bad temper, lived east of the Rhine river and ruined Europe 🤯). Paris LEZ will in the forthcoming months ban (yes ban) all diesel cars (even the newests )and many petrol cars (other than Euro 6 compliant) to enter and drive the area . Driving your banned car between 8 AM to 8 PM from Monday to Friday will translate into an automated fine which amount will increase each time...This is French bureaucracy at its finest. They recently decided to postpone the ban after the Olympics fearing severe unrests. Perfectly happy with my VW Passat Variant which suited me for business and my regular trips to Normandy, I was on a clock and had to pick up a car that will allow me to drive out of my parking space whenever I need / want. As I cannot easily charge at home (at least in Paris) and I do not stand the prospect of playing Russian roulette game of recharge when you go the BEV path. I narrowed my search to HEV and PHEV vehicles. I was looking for a car : higher than the Passat, shorter, confortable with heated seats, with a little punch, torquey at low revs, capable of long range cruising, roomy enough for 4 adults with a decent boot that could accommodate trips to gardening shop, with the most comprehensive security suite, decent audio, large screen for my aging eyes. To this equation, only one answer : An SUV (or should I write an MPV with an attitude 🙃) I went on a complete market expedition : BMW X3 30e , MERCEDES GLC 300E, AUDI Q5 TFSIe, DS 7 E tense, VOLVO XC 60, DS 7 E TENSE, LEXUS NX 350H / 450 H+, MAZDA CX 60, HYUNDAI TUCSON PHEV, KIA SPORTAGE PHEV, FORD KUGA PHEV, VW TIGUAN GTE, PEUGEOT 3008 HYBRID. So began a long tour of car dealers (but I am lucky enough to have a few of them at pretty short distance from home), rent and insurance quoting, driving test, internet digging, Youtube reviews binge watching... Due to taxes consideration, I quickly ruled out the self charging hybrids and short listed : BMW X3 30e MERCEDES GLC 300e AUDI Q5TFSIe VOLVO XC 60 T6 Recharge DS 7 E TENSE 300 LEXUS NX 450H+ DS even with the lowest price tag was ruled out due to the rent price and some concern about reliability / efficiency even during the first years of the car VOLVO was a serious competitor but also ruled out due to overall cabin feeling (I want leather not some eco carpet or whatever recycled vinyl), being a trojan horse for Chinese automakers and electronically caping top speed at 160 kph (I do drive on German Autobahns and 160 is a tad slow 😇) AUDI was dropped pretty soon as they couldn't guarantee that the car will come with the options ordered and on top of that we found the car looking pretty bland MERCEDES was in the middle of a model refresh and the price of the new one killed the idea Finally, The X3 did not make it for practical reasons : a ridiculous small trunk for its size, small ev range and MPG So here comes MIDORI
  11. Oh I can tell you, it is well worth the wait...and I'm coming from a fully loaded VW Passat Variant with DCC (adaptative dampers and personalized settings) and all the bells& whistles. This is above and beyond (zippy, quiet, comfy and quite nimble compared to my former station wagon)
  12. ...but you have to keep the car "running" (ie. powered in EV mode). And I do not know how to do it whitout leaving the car unlocked with a key inside 😕
  13. The answer is yes. It will naturally deplete your traction battery Don't forget to disable the alarm 😇
  14. Mark & Levinson sound system option Sorry for the acronym
  15. I'm in heaven... Got one key fob and a credit card key... Some tidbits of info : At least In France, M&L option is the main cause for 350h+ waiting time (15+ months) . Lexus France will not sell the M&L option for the 450H+ until the supply problems are sorted out.
  16. less than 36 hours to end a 14 months waiting time
  17. Sounds like a familiar tune to my ears. My order was placed in feb 22 with a delivery timeframe between oct 22 and Dec 22 In July, a weird allocation mismatch happened, my sales rep phoned me and told me that my NX will be a couple of months early and that it will be stored until the end of my current lease contract. That was bogus, in September, he apologized for the mismatch (which was due to human error on the not so evolved tracking system used by Lexus France) and announced a "drift" (so to speak) of the delivery time frame to January 23 - March 23 but he was confident that a January delivery was highly probable. That meant that my car was supposed to be build in November 23 but as time passed, there was no tracking actualisation and each passing month resulted in another delay. I had to extend my current lease (which was luckily open ended) but with an extra cost. Then out of the blue, I got a rare proactive call of my sales rep telling me that the car will be delivered to Lexus France Stock on march 26 ! Some logistics shenanigans later, it finally made its way to the dealership 3 days ago ! Do not give up !
  18. Yes, "pure" build time is rather short for every manufacturer, after these are all mass produced objects. But you still have static and rolling Q/C, storage at the factory lot and so on...hence my "shortcut" to a 2 to 3 weeks time frame
  19. Things are moving fast. I just signed the licence registration form and got my VIN... Set up my appointment for my free eco-driving training (90 minutes course included in the rental package for businesses) in May Confirmed the pick up on Saturday morning 9:30 AM...Only 90 or so hours remaining
  20. Thanks Harry ! Your car may be on the Morning Calypso currently in the Red Sea making its way to Suez Canal. It is scheduled for docking in Portbury early May
  21. If build has just started, it should take 2 to 3 weeks to be completed and ferried to the port. Add a 4 weeks navigation and 3 weeks to reach dealership and delivered to you. Mid to end June seems a more accurate prediction (and I do not want to rain on your parade 😇). A 12 months waiting time is a pretty good one in these days and age
  22. Simpler in French : Une Lexus, Des Lexus...no problem 😅
  23. Thanks I keep fingers crossed for you. I see that Lexus Sweden is as accurate and reliable as Lexus France. March 22 order should be a late may mid june delivery unless Sweden has a very small share of européen allocations.
