Any update Lexus come back to you?

Sorry I put the update on the original "Missing 23 litres" thread and forgot to link back to this one - basically they ran a procedure to recalibrate the fuel gauge and the range went up.  I need to run it to the reserve level again and report back - should be end of the month .  Thread below:

  2. So car went in to the dealer yesterday and they have "recalibrated the fuel gauge".  They were pretty hopeful as the range went up as they did this.

When it was collected it was showing 140 miles range, and now its back its showing 158 miles, and it would have been driven 35 miles, so perhaps gained 50+miles?  I'll run the tank down to when it asks to refuel and see if its different 🤞.

Dealer stated that when the car is on the Reserve level it can have between 5 and 15 litres of fuel in the tank.  I said that 15 seemed a high number.

It’s because there are quite a few options…

HV - hybrid, will fall into Ev as appropriate

Auto EV/HV - will switch between Ev and hybrid mode

EV only - will stick in EV mode as much as possible

CRG - you hold the button down to select this - forces petrol engine to run and uses petrol to charge the battery

I think there’s at least one more mode I’m forgetting, but I’m sure this is all in the manual somewhere.

    Thanks.

For comparison this was one button in my old A3 Etron (Drive mode EV > Hybrid -> Charge hold - and it defaulted to what it was set to last time).  You could also force a harder regen mode by selecting sport mode which was useful when coming up to a junction or going down steep hills.  Given the EV range it had it was all a bit academic but still miss the Audi/VAG infotainment/trip computer system.

Sorry if you are already aware that by toggling the HV/EV button it should force the car to run in either of those modes. Having said that with the car in EV mode I and others have experienced the car running in HV when there’s enough EV charge remaining (this is to be expected according to the manual). Also I’ve noticed when in HV mode the car will occasionally drop into EV mode but this is mainly when going slightly downhill on a motorway or at low manoeuvring speeds. Hope you can solve the conundrum.

Thanks, will give it a go - not played with HV/EV for some time.  As you say it always seems to use EV at very low speed if it can.  Never quite got why it needs 2 separate buttons for HV/EV and Auto HV/EV.

  5. Back from a longish trip where I filled up with 20 miles range showing and again only squeezed in 37 litres (so 18 litres / nearly 4 (UK) gallons short of the actual capacity).

So does anyone know if the fault is:

    a)      tank has an air lock and you can never get the full 55 litres in so the car is actually near empty when it shows 20 miles range.
    b)      tank never fully empties and we have 15 litres sloshing around that we could actually use if "brave" !

After filling up the car shows 450 miles HV range (0 EV), but I actually get 320 miles before its back to near empty again.  Trip computer shows around 45mpg on these trips.  This is a trip of mainly dual carriageways and motorways averaging 50-60 mph.

Car is now showing 24 miles HV range.  So if I can force it to run on petrol whilst having EV available I may be able to answer my own question...

  6. I had my maps updated last month at the dealer.  I'd had the same message on the screen stating "contact dealer" at the end of last year and had asked the dealer to update the maps when it was in for a service in January.  Unfortunately they failed to order in the correct part (assume a USB stick) so car had to be re-booked in 6 weeks later.  It took them 2 days to do it and they had to take the Battery off before the update would "take".   Previously at the start of 2023 it successfully updated itself over the air, all very annoying.

  7. I was surprised/annoyed to discover that the traction Battery did not keep the 12V Battery charged, especially as I always left it plugged in. Has happened a couple of times, locking me out of the car when its been left for 3+ weeks.  Manually opening the car and putting it on charge or attaching a Battery pack eventually got it going again.

Looking at this thread on Club Lexus 450h charging question it shows the car was trickle charging the 12V whilst its charging the hybrid Battery but not when it completes charging.  I'll be manually trickle charging the 12V Battery every so often from now on.

I'd seen a similar type of issue reported on a Kia eNiro EV where software controlled when the 12V Battery was charged from the main Battery but the algorithm it used was flawed and ended up locking people out of their cars as the 12V slowly discharged.

I had the same experience a few weeks back and since then I have not used the demist function in the morning (which is a bit daft having it and not using it, but the engine kicking in for urban drive is so unnecessary).

Would starting the climate through the App just before you go out help?  I used to pre-warm my A3 e-tron in this way when it was on charge in the garage and it purely used the mains power so did not affect the EV range,

  9. Tried to start the above app (on iPhone) and it says  "New version available - An update to MyToyota is required to continue".  Clicking on the Update button takes you to MyToyota app in the app store.

    Anybody else ?

What might be related was that I had to change my lexus website password yesterday to log the car back in (it had the cannot sync profile message of doom again).  So perhaps they rolled out a new version badly.

I can't believe they would want Lexus owners to use the Toyota app (even if the backend is the same) so assume its a glitch.

  10. I have the car in garage so its simple to just use the granny charger and a 13 amp socket to charge it overnight.  Seems to charge slightly quicker than 8 hours from 'empty' as well.  If/when we get a full EV we'll put in a charging point but seems pretty pointless at present for us.

Hope your wait is not too long, they are great alll rounders.  What colour/spec have you gone for.

I used to have the same issue. I contacted Lexus customer relations about this and was advised that there would be an update that would fix this (referring to the OTA update last December). It has been now a month since I installed the OTA update and that message/window has not appeared again whereas I used to get this message every 3-5 days before the update.

Btw, hitting continue and entering the password did not cause any further issues in my case and would make the message disappear, however, the message would return after 3-5 days.

I had same issue all last year.  Appeared to happen mainly after stopping and starting the car mid journey.  Multiply logging it back in did not fix it and on long journeys it was a real pain as you cannot get rid of the prompt which comes up every 5 minutes or so without logging in.  Also tried resetting the Lexus app and the profile in the car but no joy.

However as GeoNX above the car finally received the OTA update at start of this month, and so far I've not seen the message ... 🤞

Reading the handbook the traction battery is only ever charged to 80% max capacity. Presumably to allow for regenerative braking from the start of a journey?

This is an interesting question.  My previous A3 etron hybrid would noticeably do no regen charging when charged to 100% (which it always was from start as the range was always so small so I always stuck it on charge after every trip) - it always felt like a lost opportunity.  I'll see if the NX is the same.

  13. Just to say thanks about the 8 beeps, I assumed it was some random locking problem.

I also sometime get the "rear seat issue" message when shutting the car off.  There is nothing on the back set at this point.

Also still getting the cannot login to profile message.  Seems to be linked to starting the car moving off (e.g. out of the garage) and then stopping and restarting.   This is the most annoying as it comes up with connect or cancel message every 10 minutes of the journey.

  14. Thanks all.

Just to add that all the previous times I've done the trip in other cars it normally starts at around 5 hours (its 244 miles via A303 and we always go "out of hours" - 270 via M4/5) which is reasonable.  I was just shocked to see 6.5 hours from the Lexus, I restarted it 3 times and it was adamant.  From what I could see all the options are set correctly.

I'll try it again and see if it plots a better route/time, else I'll be using my phone through car play. May just be a software glitch as others have suggested.

P.S.  I noticed that the Nav screen does show the static speed cameras on route.  Ours is set to audible alert but I did not hear anything , has anyone else?

  15. Not sure if I have a setting wrong but when I asked the car (2022 450h+) to navigate from Hampshire to Cornwall at 7am on a Sunday it:
    - refused to use the A303 and was set on using M4/M5
    - estimated the time as 6.5 hours

Checking on Phone Google maps showed no issues with A303 and we ended up driving that way in around 4 hours.  All the while the estimated arrival time slowly came back in (by 2.5 hours).

    Anybody else had this?
