  1. Doing this from memory, but looking at the top arm it had a solid top at the joint, the bottom arm that had fallen down just sat in that joint. I mean just drill an hole down through the top of the joint, big enough for a pin or bolt. Im no engineer but i think someone with a bit of know how could botch something together.
  2. Was thinking this could be fixed on the cheap. Drill an hole, couple of washers and a split pin or nut and bolts. Just a thought.
  3. Took the scuttle off and broke one of the end faster's in the process. I don't think those plastic fasteners are supposed to be re-used, they break too easily. Did have a box of Toyota fasteners but cant find them, could have done with them. Many more missing that have nothing do with me but just enough to hold the plastic engine cover down, will get some more. Hardest thing for me was stopping the wiper in the right place to best work on it, took several goes to time it right. Its an awkward joint, but it did hold and work just by pushing it back on. Hence just wrapped some elasticated string around it and it seems to hold it ok. Quietly confident, wel see Stayed rust free under the engine covers around the suspension mounts. that's good. Now time for a beer. Cheers John
  4. Its ok,done it, had to push down and pull at the same time so it levels up on the thread, otherwise it just grips Not big on doing this stuff haha
  5. Actually, one came off easy Driver side really stuck on there, tried wd40
  6. John How did you get the wipers off? Took bolts off but the rubber holding then on seems really tight, pulling hard and nothing moving
  7. Thanks John, That's what an engineer was saying in work today, so i guess he was right. Will pull off the trim tomorrow and try the temporary fix. The trim don't look difficult to take off. He suggested using rainx on the wind screen just in case the temp fix gave way. Says rainx is great anyways.
  8. Hello, maybe thats whats broke it, not sure. Was 6 degrees when i got in it. Anyways, just checked again and motors running but that wiper not moving. Thinks somethings snapped lol Will look when have more time
  9. Got in the car this morn. flicked the wiper switch and heard a clicking noise whilst the drivers wiper seized to move. Will investigate later today If anyone has had this issue or knows what it is, be glad to know in advance Cheers
  10. I thought that when i saw mallet and monkey wrench😄 I took them apart, straight forward as you pointed out. Pulling one of the mirrors and a little bit of a plastic clip snapped off with it. Probably a job better doing when its hot weather out. They looked ok, not too bad. Brushed them off and went over them with some ACF50. Ideally, better painting like you did but looks like rain. I think they will be ok for some time to come. Cleaned housing out, went back together ok, even with missing plastic. A few of the screws were quite heavily corroded, might replace those if i have to do it again. Cheers for that, end of that saga.
  11. Found a vid that shows the dismantling of the side mirror. The guys fixing another issue but i get the picture. To me, its something that has to be done , cant keep t-cutting paint of the door long term. If weather stays ok, might do it today.
  12. Didn't realize it was that straightforward!! I might just do that one day, a proper solution. Aye, it took me ages prep those doors, only did the doors 😄
  13. Update. Keeping the IS250, well, at least for another few or so years.
  14. Update. Bought a ceramic coating, just done it and will see how it goes. 9H MR Fix, it was cheap . Not expecting miracles, just hoping it helps for a while, rather than keep t-cutting. John above did it the correct way but it looks too involving for lazy sod like me
  15. Was just looking on autotrader at BMW and Mercedes (though i said id never get another) One car that caught my eye was the Merc C300, Also, do like Merc C class coupe. Back of my mind though, Merc can be money pits, BMW too. Cars are so computerized in this day and age, made me so wary. Brand new with warranty, ok, but used and out of warranty, well.
