Hi Neil as soon as my unit arrives from the insurance company I will advise your enquiry.
-
My insurance renewal is up for renewal again so as you do I decided to hunt around for a decent quote. A few companies I tried were 20- 30% higher than last year. So I decided to try Adrian Flux as linked through this site. The customer service lady was very helpful and gave me a quote which was less than last year. Great I thought and waited for the schedule and policy docs to arrive. On reading the schedule carefully I discovered that “ theft” was only covered if a vehicle tracker with subscription was fitted. Strange ? Hadn’t come across this before. So I checked my current insurance and lo and behold in the tiny print of terms and conditions of the policy again tracker with subscription would have to have been fitted to claim for theft. Next stage was to investigate trackers. Because Lexus link doesn’t count as an insurance approved tracker system??. To cut a long story short subscription trackers of CAT 5 level are pricey, and I was quoted £500 plus for the unit fitted and approx £150 yearly subscription cost . Crikey! I’m well aware of the advantages of this type of tracker but at this cost no thanks ….. so I queried this with the nice lady from Adrian Flux and she kindly directed me to a unit called a Nano tracker for about £90 one off cost which they approve and this would cover me if some scroat tries to steal my ES. So just as a heads up as I know we all do read the small print on the insurances docs and policies to make sure you’re covered for theft.

On the charging pad there is a button which switches the charging bit off. So the phone can sit there and connect the apple car play to the system. The front USB socket for the apple car play interface also charges the phone. if you decide you can place the phone in the phone pocket where the usb socket is and use a short lead to the usb connection ….

Point taken .. just to clarify. Short distance is when the TPMS registered the pressure reading from start up which is probably less than 500 m. Also a TPMS reading of 2.4 bar actually could be 2.41 bar or 2.49 bar as display is only Tom 1 decimal place. therefore measure tyre pressures when cold with a separate accurate tyre pressure gauge .
-
Just a point to ponder inthese warm days …. Tyre pressures … if the pressure is too high it does increase th road noise and overall ride comfort. with the sunny weather now and a heat wave. I adjusted my tyre pressures to 33 psi @ 15 degC early morning. Which gives the 2.4 bar once the car has gone a short distance which is what is in the handbook. has made a difference in ride comfort and noise level, currently running at 56.5 mpg E10. Local only Last trip of 80 miles with 75% motorway bubbling along at 70 (ish) 58.9 mpg ….ac on and 23 deg C outside temp

Congrats on your car .enjoy great Color have the same but with the cream interior which appear is now not an option on my 23 models . when polished the blue has so many shades when in sunshine truly gorgeous…..

On our trips with our Lexus we play the game of spotting at least another Lexus ES 300 🙂……..

Tony if your Lexus was brand new it might use a small amount of oil. As every thing beds in. my local Lexus / Toyota dealer sold me a litre of the correct oil just in case. I needed about 150 ml after about 2000miles to bring it up to the full mark on the dippy stick.

Hello fellow owners your advice please….. on a recent trip through the Lake District to the east coast I encountered what I can only describe as a kamikaze squadron of bugs and insects which have decided to terminate their existence deeply embedded into my pristine paint work and splatter on the windscreen…. i left my car parked over night and the sea gulls after a dinner of fish and chips decided to evacuate their butt by aiming at my car roof. because the sun was shining and was quite warm all residues became baked and hardened. Grrrrrrr suggestions for a removal process with out damaging paint surface…? thank you guys

Thank you for that link . fascinating . A very detailed analysis of the car systems. Very complicated to understand though . -
Very sorry to hear of your poor experience at Lexus Cambridge and I hope u can escalate your concerns higher up to achieve some result. This is in such stark contrast to my experience at Lexus Preston. Who I have posted before for their exceptional customer service. yesterday I had my ES booked in for it’s 20K service and although the car park was quite full I did manage to get a bay to leave my car in. I was greeted by name as I walked in offered coffee and shown to the service reception area. The service manager Phil was expecting me and all the paperwork was ready for me to sign. Whilst the car was being booked in on the computer the service technician arrived and took the keys ready to commence the work …. For this service I had requested a courtesy car and they offered me the new RX350h demonstrator. Because it is significantly different to my ES, the service manager went out of his way and spent a good 20 mins to explain the functions of the RX for me before letting me loose with this beast …… by the time I had returned home and done a few errands I had the text message with the service video , and then 1/2 hour later was told the car was ready …….. on my return the car was washed and vac,d parked on the forecourt gleaming in the sun … and a bottle of spring water was complimentary supplied in the car. As the car was purchased with 2 free services the bill for this service was less than £50 with ac clean and a paint touch up stick. Loan car was FOC. previously I posted this dealership as Par Excellance and it continues to go beyond in its customer service . A big thank you and well done Preston Lexus. perhaps Cambridge Lexus should take note ……

ES300H TAKUMI - wheel arch CAN BUS theft

Sorry to here that your ES was stolen. have read all the posts regarding steering locks etc and possible plate protection for the headlamp wiring. Left pondering on a solution …. a few years ago before my Lexus ES adventure I had a mini John cooper works and I fitted an immobiliser on the car which disabled the power to fuel pump feed. need to do a bit of investigation if this could be a solution for the Es to make it more secure other wise. Guard dog tethered to front bumper or 24 hr security guard with ak 47😂😂😂 -
I have also used the Hoya glasses for night time driving. Costa fortune especially if varifocal type but they designed to cut the “blue” light spectrum out of these new LED headlights. My ES headlamps are bright so I can see where I’m going ……

Got the old brain cells working and have found the solution ….whilst playing with the system in the ES……and remembering on my last journey the recirculate and fresh air indicators kept changing ……. … The hard keys under the display can control the climate functions and when “auto “ is pressed fan speed air outlet direction and temp is controlled automatically. When the soft key auto A/C is set to on ( default condition ). The climate system automatically adjusts the recirculate and fresh air function and the auto light for the hard key is illuminated. The climate system then periodically will switch the recirculate and fresh air mode to keep the car climate system constant to what has been programmed. hope that helps
-
Some information appears on pages 321 and 473 in full owners manual but it actually doesn’t explain what it does …….
-
Just checked for you light on lhs of soft key illuminates from grey to blue ……. but as per your original post I’m stumped too what is auto A/C mode……?
-
It’s off …….. if you press it it changes to on and the little light comes on Japanese logic

Seeing an ES being used as a taxi takes away its exclusivity😏

ES Owners: Do You Realize How Powerful Your Headlights Are?

Thanks for that download. Now I understand how it all works and how the light pattern changes with speed. -
Okay so my last post was a bit flippant which got me thinking how loud is inside the car? using a phone app called Decibel X I measured inside the car sitting in the drivers seat parked up on my driveway in quiet residential area. ambient level car switched on 25dbA. That’s quiet ! reference track Coldplay “Fix you “. At 3’ 42” ( where it’s going full pelt …..) from CD in ML system vol 20 average 65 max 72.5 peak 77. All dbA weighting vol 40 average 79.9 max 87.5peak 95. All dbA weighting anything above level 40 u getting concert level loudness and going into the realms of temp hearing loss…….. Car may not be bouncing but the drivers seat was ha ha ha
-
At Volume level 40 😮. Surprised whole car not jumping too…….
-
Checking oil temp when cold can lead to overfilling. Car must also be on level ground

ES Owners: Do You Realize How Powerful Your Headlights Are?
Julncamp54 replied to Rabbers's topic in Lexus ES 300h Club
I feel there is a tiny flaw with the adaptive system in such that when it activates you have on the info screen the green headlight symbol with the A in it. And the blue beam warning light comes on to. now if you switch to main beam the same blue light remains on and if you forget to dip the lights you are led to think that the adaptive system is still on as the headlight pattern from adaptive to main Beam is a subtle change. perhaps a blue headlamp with an A and a normal Blue would solve the issue to distinguish between the two systems. One time I forgot I was on main beam and this huge SUV from Bavaria flashed me as I illuminated his being. Not apologising as his SUV headlamps were just at my eyeball height in my ES……. probably saw me mouthing something about his parentage. Ha ha ha -

I have a 2022 build with the blade scan headlamps . They are nothing less than awesome. Not aware of any oncoming traffic being dazzled but system auto illuminates the LHS and picks out road signs and pedestrians and bicycles with ease. fabulous Japanese Lexus technology….. -
Woke up this morning and found my ES covered in baby snow and ice . De-iced the windscreen and put screen heater on. Tried to use washers and no fluid came out despite screen tank full on -20deg screen wash…… checked washer outlet nozzle and big blob of ice stuck there. can anyone confirm if the washer outlets are heated cos couldn’t see any wiring going into the bonnet and washers didn’t work until ran warm water over the outlets. couldn’t find any reference in the owners manual ….. thanks
