  1. That's me out then, now is not a time to be selling stocks and shares to fund a car, and I am not paying 5.9% when Sainsburys are charging 2.8% for up to 25k. I might buy outright with a loan via them, but that still means putting more into a depreciating asset than I am comfortable with - I prefer to put my cash into appreciating assets for me or the kids!
  2. There you go then, win win. Impatient so and so's can pay for the privilege, others can adjust buying accordingly. I'm likely to dispense with my Audi and manage with the Mini for a few months until prices get more sensible and supply improves and see if I can get a win win too. Although at the moment I cant make my mind up whether to go all electric (Model Y), have one last hurrah with a decent petrol engine (probably an x3 M40i) or go for the half way house (450h+ F sport). Maybe I will dump the Audi and see how my mood takes me! I love that you think they are taking the ***** charging more but not giving you more..... I bet if a dealer was that inconsistent with you it would not go without reaction 😉
  3. Well I sold a 4 month old A6 when my wife died as I couldnt bring myself to sell her Mini.... who knows why....
  4. Prices are set by supply and demand once you get past new RRP situations. 15 months ago I bought an Audi (I know forgive me but I was getting rid of a BMW...) and paid about £10k less than list. I can now sell it to WBAC for more than I paid for it.... due to supply and demand.... There are Porsche dealers with lightly optioned Macan S at £80k, that is a £65k to £68k RRP car depending on options....maybe even less! The black one says non VAT qualifying which means it has been out of the trade I think. So not a dealer looking to flip at a profit, they have bought from someone for some reason (who knows what) and have added a margin. You dont have to buy....
  5. Fill your boots, I'd suggest the cheapest way is not to drive it at all ... 😉 Its a public forum, unfortunately you cant control what responses you get, but the short answer is the cheapest way to charge is overnight on an EV tariff. I'd assume that if you set the sat nav for your destination, the car will decide the best way to deploy the battery power during that journey. Wont it? Anyway, enjoy the car.
  6. I get running electric and trying to improve air pollution in cities and towns etc, that is why I would be interested, but having spent that much I'm not sure I can be bothered to try and save a few pence on charging method. Lets be honest, anything will be cheaper than the sub 20 mpg I get round town now!
  7. So having spent best part of £50k on a car we are worrying about the cheapest way to charge it up..... if you want to save money, maybe buy a cheaper car?
  8. And isnt that the stupidity of the tax system, there will be no need to charge it to get the tax saving and it actively encourages you to drive the car. If I buy it will be a private purchase, but I'd still pick PHEV. The ability to drive on EV in built up areas where the air quality is lowest is important. I'm assuming that you have a home based contract to be able to claim mileage for going to the office - and assuming you get 45mpg on average, I make that 2270 miles a month just going to the office - which would suggest you really shouldnt have a home based contract based on fact of where you work!
  9. I guess that depends what you want. If I buy an NX it will be the PHEV. I've had my fill of fast and noisy cars but coming from a 450hp estate (itself following a 600hp saloon) I dont want to lose too much performance in the search for comfort and refinement. I'd go full electric but I'm not quite ready for that as many of my journeys are 300 miles across a weekend. It will be nice to be able to use the EV for local commuting, whilst having an ICE for long journeys. Son in Law is getting an i4 M50 so I'll see how he gets on with range before I go full electric.....
