I would imagine so. I have a 3 year free servicing plan (negotiated at time of purchase) and have received the appropriate invoices marked “paid” on collecting the car after a service.

There are no OTA map updates, despite what Lexus have said in the past or what some dealers may say now. Map updates can be done by the dealer FOC if you require one. All of the above from my (very good) dealership

I swapped out the puddle lights fitted as oem equipment for the ‘addcarlights’ ones. The transformation is simply amazing with very bright & clear logo’s

If your dash cams have parking mode and are not of the type that also monitor battery level with an auto cut off then that is likely to be the culprit.

Re the 12v battery, it did cause me a couple of issues but entirely my own fault for not reading the manual correctly. One you know its limitations and work arounds it’s fine, you just need to understand how the hybrid system works and not expect a 12v battery the size as in a Range Rover. Ive never had a problem with the run flats, I always carry a tyre plugger in the boot for those “just in case” moments. Had my 450h now for 2 years after switching from a RX450h which I had for 5 years

I was told by the dealership that the glass alone was over £500 due to some fancy liquid coating or backing which makes all the gizmos work in the glass, blind spot monitoring, auto dimming, heating & so on. Spock, beam me back to 1970 when motoring was free from added gizmos and free from EU intervention and when you actually had to drive the cars 🙏

TBH Malc I’m not sure how easy it would be to transfer all of the mirror internals in to a 3D printed housing. I didn’t get time to examine it since the car was booked in for servicing the morning after & the dealer could get one delivered that morning.

Ken, that is what we are doing 👍 Sods law that we only increased the voluntary excess last year but, as you say, one would hope that future premiums wouldn’t be greatly affected by it. Shouldn’t affect NCB since that is protected. We will see, since insurance renewal is late Sept.

It’s all personal preference but I never thought that the ML system I had on my RX450 f sport was any better than the standard system in my current NX450 f sport. Of course it’s your choice but I wouldn’t pay extra for the ML system, i think it is a Lexus marketing gimmick. How many here had ever heard of ML before Lexus started pushing its name.

Your NX could also be put into sports mode by knocking the gear lever sideways. Is this also not available on the gen 5 RX

I suspect you are 100% correct 👍 Rather than supply just the housing, back plate & glass and transfer all of the wiring and parts from the old to the new housing, they supply a complete unit with all of the wizardry ready fitted so it is just a matter of plug & play. Hence the 30 minute fitting time. Just as aside, if anyone ever needs a backplate they are £77+vat, and the glass is £500+vat.

No painting required, I think that the only changeable colour part is the back plate which is supplied ready coloured. The rest is Matt black. Labour was quoted at 30 minutes to fit. The charge for labour was waived when they asked for payment & a 10% loyalty discount applied to the part cost. Still trying to persuade the wife to sell a kidney though to pay for it!

A nice motorhome driver thought that it would be a good idea to allow his door mirror to have an altercation with mine this morning (NX450). This resulted not only in folding my door mirror in towards the window but also shattering the glass. I was on a busy winding B road & couldn’t stop immediately but when I did there was no sign of the motorhome so I though ‘it’s just one of those unfortunate incidents, i’ll get the glass replaced.’ When I did stop approx 300yds further on I could see that the assembly back plate was missing. Walking back to try to find it would have been too dangerous (narrow winding B road, no pavement & loads of traffic in both directions) so I carried on to my appointment. The car goes in for its 2nd service tomorrow so I thought I’d call in at the local dealers on the way home. Technician looks at the door mirror assembly & told me that various locating lugs are missing so it is going to need a complete mirror assembly & glass. Now if that wasn’t bad enough worse was to come……………HOW MUCH??????????????????????????????????????????? No wonder car insurance premiums are what they are …………..£2100 😠😠😠😠 I will be going through my dashcam footage this evening👍

I just take the front wheel off on our 450. It only takes a couple of minutes if that. This way I know that the headlining won’t get damaged. Best to use a spacer that fits into the front caliper on the bike so that you don’t accidentally pull the brake lever when lifting in & out. Take the battery pack out first to lighten the weight and make sure you put it in derailleur facing upwards to avoid any damage to that. It all sounds like a bit of a faff but it is quite simple and non time consuming once you get the hang of it

I will report back after the service, albeit the service is 4 weeks away. Yes, when the car slips into EV when driving in hybrid mode it will show EV on the dash underneath HV. Going into EV when driving at 60mph+ is what used to happen, depending on driving conditions of course.

Interesting that you should say that Ken. Our NX450 goes in for its 2nd year service shortly and one thing I have mentioned to the service team is that it doesn’t really seem to go into EV mode when running in hybrid mode on petrol. For the first 12 months it used to switch between fuel and EV when in HV and would regularly give 50mph plus on long journeys after the initial battery charge had depleted. These days it only gives 45mph plus.

At last, someone who shares the same view as me 👍 I’ve stated before, “the car can be hurried along country lanes, especially if you have the adaptive dampers.”

I have found that for the lock button on the tailgate to work properly you have to press the button and walk away, not just step away. The release button inside the car needs a long press. Also make sure the keys are well inside the car. Having them in your pocket if trying to use the release button whilst stood by the door will always be very hit & miss

Not that I can recall but it’s probably me not remembering because Lexus Ipswich, for the 12 years that I’ve dealt with them, have generally been very good.

Because, at the time, like I said I hadn’t read the manual f was unaware of the 2 pull method🙄
