  1. If you log in to your customer portal all of the manuals, including a separate multimedia one, are in there to download. Sorry I can’t post a link to the manual, for some reason (probably my very basic IT skills) I can’t share the download.
  2. Some dealers are reluctant to discount the NX but if you have a p/x you should focus on the cost to change amount & not the purchase price of the new car. When I was negotiating my deal early in the year, after being offered a pretty decent price for my p/x, I was asked what was needed to clinch the sale. I said, a little tongue in cheek at the time, £1500 more on the p/x and 2 years free servicing since free servicing has a value to me for very little cost to the dealership. After a 5 minute discussion between the salesperson and his manager, the manager came to me and said “I can’t stretch to a further £1500 on your p/x but if I gave you an extra £1000 and 3 years free servicing would that be acceptable?” Value to me was almost the same so I agreed
  3. 9 times out of 10 I know what me next trip is so I usually try to calculate if there is likely to be enough range left in the batteries. If there is I don’t top up, and if it falls 5 miles or so short I still don’t top up (I’m old fashioned, I don’t like an engine not being used for too long) Hence most of my charges are usually around the max 14-15 kWh mark. I thought that the hybrid system is designed so that the batteries cannot be fully depleted, have I got this wrong?
  4. Why press a switch after you’ve parked up, just set the cameras up to come on automatically at parking speeds. Have you found the secret storage compartment yet?
  5. I believe that there are numerous sharp metal prongs embedded in the seat of the drivers seat, which automatically rise and retract through the vent holes, stabbing RX drivers who ask too many questions in the @rse. 😛
  6. I agree Ken, over 2 trips (mainly motorways) which each covered over 200 miles with no charge in the EV batteries other than the minimum 30% when the car switches to HV mode I’ve seen 49.5mpg and 53mpg, a substantial jump on my previous RX. It would be useful if, in one of those motoring reviews, one of them would perform a back to back near identical test on the 350h and the 450h (EV batteries depleted) to establish just how much this extra weight affects the 450h. My thinking is that it is not as much as suggested. I haven’t worked it out but the % difference in weight is not the same as it would be turning a Lotus into a PHEV.
  7. I guess in the same way as it’s possible to measure the depth of paint on a panel.
  8. Hmmm, think I’m going to give this a try. It is what the guy doing the What Car long term review alluded to as the best way of using the car, especially on longer “out of EV range” trips
  9. Lol, that was my initial thought Alternatively, get GAP insurance from ALA and add scratch & dent cover as an extra.
  10. Change to an NX, it’s lower, that’s what I did 👍 Seriously though, I used to just step on to the door sill tops and hang on to the grab handles, it works for washing & drying. Use a platform for polishing etc.
  11. That 3 year fixed deal definitely sounds a good move in the current climate 👍 I was patting myself on the back for having the luck to enter into a 2 year fixed deal (usually against my better judgement) with Octopus last Aug at 18.1p/kWh, although my gas was also fixed at 3.14p/kWh. It hurt at the time & I moaned like hell since both represented a 40% increase on my previous fixed rate deal with EDF, but oh how I’m glad that I did now.
  12. I wondered that as well, but after looking more closely 2 things are apparent. The spoiler s not as pronounced as on the RX and the roofline slopes towards the rear window more than the RX, so I don’t think that there would be room to hide the wiper underneath. I also wonder why Lexus have not put the hard backs on the front seats like the RX (the backs of the front seats on the NX are just a flimsy covering) and why did they go away from those fold out front door pockets. The NX is an expensive car but there is evidence of cost cutting measures when you start to look more closely. The NX is still very nice though and I guess I need to take the wife’s advice of “stop keep comparing it the the RX & just let’s enjoy it and it’s positives over the RX”
  13. @SybarisOnce you’re happy that you have sorted it you will realise that the logic the system uses is totally illogical, the traffic jams it warns you of was 2-3 hours ago and has since cleared, the traffic jam you are in is the one that it will alert you to in 2 hours time and the slow traffic ahead is on the other carriageway. BTW, for what it’s worth, after 1 month with the new all singing all dancing super duper 2022 NX system it is no better. Logic is still illogical and the map in places is 2 years out of date. As others have mentioned, Google maps, TomTom app, Waze etc is the way to go. For “safety” camera warnings, my Thinkware dashcam with its regular updates will take some beating.
  14. That’s exactly the point I was trying to make in this thread, although it was more in relation to prices for public charging en-route Fortunately I entered in to a 2 year contract last Aug, so still 12 months to go, at 18.4p/kWh so whilst I can’t take advantage of super low overnight rates my cost for a full charge is circa £2.70.
  15. My comment was more in relation to the previous paragraph in my post being charging whilst out on the road. Fortunately Tesla has a different charging regime to the general type 2 chargers out there.
  16. I didn’t update my SatNav Len, I took delivery of the new NX which is supposed to have the new Lexus all singing all dancing system which I was told will always be up to date because of over the air updates.
  17. 3 weeks in and my opinion of the SatNav is that it’s logic is no better than the 2018 RX I traded in. Also found out yesterday that it isn’t up to date despite the claim of over the air updates. I requested a company destination yesterday and it wanted to direct me to a location 50 miles away where the company moved from over 2 years ago. Changed to google maps and it was spot on.
  18. Purely empty B roads pottering along at 45-50 mph where possible since there are many villages along the route with 30mph limits. I wouldn’t normally keep the speed down to that level on the open road but I did this time as an experiment to convince myself that the car can achieve the 50+ mile range. Not questioning your achievements Ken, just had to prove that me & my car can break through that barrier.
  19. Took the NX for detailing this morning, picking it upon Thurs late afternoon. Along the B roads from our house to Snetterton it covered 38 miles and on arrival there was 14.2 miles left in the EV range, so happy with the EV range on that trip & confirms my view that road & traffic conditions affect the range as much as driving style. Range indicator was showing 3.7 miles/kWh. I read the What Car latest long term report on the NX yesterday and the guy was talking about how he puts it in to HV mode for longer trips and switches the car to EV mode in towns etc whenever he feels that it would improve the overall mpg. He reckons that this is more beneficial than running the EV range down over the first 40-45 miles and that fuel consumption also improves because the car will engage EV running more in HV mode when there is a higher charge left in the EV batteries rather than running it to the 30% level. I must admit it does sound a bit convoluted but wondered if anyone has tried doing the same.
  20. I’ve had 46miles but yesterday was 40miles. Driving style is one thing, smooth acceleration, steady braking & speed, but traffic & road conditions is a major factor. If you have to accelerate quickly at busy roundabouts & junctions, for example, to be able to utilise a gap rather than sit there for 15minutes then 50miles will never be possible imo.
  21. Latest p,U.K. in range has increased to 46miles and efficiency to 3.0miles/kWh . On our journey back from S Yorkshire to Suffolk, entirely on petrol & travelling at around the speed limits, but mostly dual carriageway & motorway, the car showed 49.5mpg. Not yet refilled it to check the actual brim to brim mpg though.
  22. So you want to move the indicator but not the steering wheel🙄 Why, what extra effort is involved since your hands will be on the wheel anyway?🤔
  23. TBH, whilst I would find that frustrating, I’m not so sure that there is any financial benefit to charging away from home unless you can charge for free (some supermarkets etc) I’ve looked at the rate per kWh at charging stations in the location where we are staying overnight this weekend and at 55p-57p/kWh, according to my maths, a full charge to do 45 miles would cost circa £8 whereas a gallon of petrol to do the same 45 miles, which appears to be possible, at £1.76/litre would cost the same £8. Hence, at the moment with high energy costs and lowering petrol prices charging the car only makes financial sense at home, especially if you managed to fix a low tariff ahead of the rising energy prices. If the electricity rates of over 40p/kWh remains for the foreseeable, the days of electric cars are numbered.
  24. I had dark rose on the Rx450 I’ve just traded in and loved it. Not too bright and not too dark. I’ve gone for red interior on the NX450h I’ve just taken delivery of and glad that there is some black contrast mixed in with the seats otherwise it may have been a touch too bright for my liking. looking at @Bish1402 pictures above, it does look to be a very similar shade, if not the same, as in my RX and also benefits from the dark rose leather on the interior door panels, which worked really well in the RX👍
  25. The sales guy that we have dealt with at Lexus Ipswich called me a few days before the 1st Aug and said “unless you really want to come here & pick it up I will deliver it on your driveway before 10.30am on the 1st. We can then go through everything in the comfort & peace of your driveway without the fear of any interruptions etc” He did apologise though saying that although the fuel tank will be full to the brim the battery range will be depleted a little.
