  1. Not quite! Saying they are the same thing is like saying beer is the same as gin, both are alcohol but not quite the same. The difference is how the engine supplies the drivetrain. While the engine in a 4WD vehicle sends power to each four wheels equally, the engine of an AWD can send different levels of power to each wheel. AWDs can distribute the engine power mechanically or electronically. AWD is more suited to road conditions.
  2. Disagree with both of you., it all depends on the characteristics of the dash cam. I use Thinkware who have dashcams that can be set to cut off the 12v supply in parking mode once the battery reaches a certain reading. Their dashcams also have energy saving parking modes for extended recording. However, because the 12v battery on a Lexus is so small I use one of their power packs (rechargeable whilst driving) which, together with the dashcams energy saving parking modes, allows my car to operate in parking mode for a few days. Of course this set up is a little more expensive than the Lexus/Halfords offering but I’ve never had a discharged 12v battery in 2 years of using Thinkware products in the NX450 and previously 4 years in my RX450.
  3. One of the NX configurations is very similar. TBH it gives all of the info that anyone should need when either reversing or parking nose first
  4. Of course it is your decision but in my experience, having had an RX450 F Sport with the ML system for 4 years prior to our current NX450h F Sport, I wouldn’t let the lack of the ML system be a deal breaker. TBH I never rated the ML in the RX and I certainly find the standard system in the NX450 to be comparable to the ML in the RX. The pano roof I agree with. It is something that we miss in the NX450 F Sport, the little sunroof is no substitute, but I went for the F Sport because I really wanted the adaptive suspension, which just shows that we all have individual preferences.
  5. Exactly the same scenario here with our NX450h, dealer told us when booking in for the last recall that the car was listed as also due the tracker & GEO if we wanted them fitting whilst they had the car. Excellent service once again from Lexus Ipswich.
  6. From memory it shows a yellow bar before the red bar. The camera also clearly shows almost a birds eye view of the front & rear bumpers so I find being able to park close up to a wall to within 3-4 inches quite easy. Just wait until the Red bar shows & then edge more slowly whilst looking at the camera image
  7. Presumably the OBD geofence device is what records the journeys in the tracker app
  8. According to me dealer, they are inundated with orders - but mainly for the LBX which is apparently outselling the sum of the rest of the range.
  9. Assume you mean £520 for the door mirror glass? The complete door mirror assembly cost me over £2000 when a kind motorhome driver decided to play conkers with it😟
  10. In my 2022 model it doesn’t look quite like your image but it certainly shows all of the info required for safe & perfect parking, including the ability to zoom into each corner of the car. The above is not quite what you asked but hope it helps
  11. Only time my 12v battery discharged was my own fault for leaving the doors open, ignition off whilst fitting a dashcam. It should have been in “ready” mode. Ours has been left at an airport for 19 days without any issues & tbh, if the 12v battery going flat is a concern to you then forget any type/model of hybrid. My daughter has a Tucson and her 12v battery went flat whilst unloading the car on a camping trip. Same problem with all hybrids, leave the doors open with ignition off for more than 15mins anfpd you’re inviting trouble.
  12. It took 5 weeks for the app to update after our last service & that was only after I used the messaging service in the app to give them a nudge😉
  13. Yep, you are 100% correct, this is what I tried pointing out many posts ago
  14. Ours is booked in to dealers next week for them to update the maps with the latest update, just as they did last year & at their suggestion when we booked it in for the latest recall.
  15. Same here, NX450h built May 2022 and dealer says “after checking the Lexus system it is eligible for a free Tracker” It is scheduled to be fitted next week whilst they are doing other updates so I guess we wait & see 🤔
  16. Just called in at my local dealer to book the NX450h in for this latest recall. Whilst going through the details on the computer the receptionist asks “would you like us to do a map update for the satnav whilst we have the car? Also the car is eligible for a free tracker to be fitted, would you like us to do this?” I have to say that, unlike some dealership stories I read on here, Lexus Ipswich have been nothing but brilliant throughout the 7 years I have been dealing with them.
  17. Not really, my app works fine with all of those, although I haven’t tried to use it to set the charge time, this is set in the car. No problem here with setting climate, locking, unlocking or viewing trips (which incidentally include distance travelled for each trip) It’s not brilliant but it is usable. But then I bought a car not a gimmick!
  18. So enlighten us, what would you want the app to do?🤔🤔
  19. It’s just lazy journalism. The reviewer latches on to comments made by some journalist many moons ago and feels that “to be in the know” he has to echo those same comments. He doesn’t understand why but he’s too scared to be the one to break the mould. Journalists are lazy, most reports tend to be a plagiarism on someone’s else’s lazy report. It’s a never ending spiral!
  20. Ron, DL didn’t make the claim process easy, initially at least. Their claims appear to be outsourced to a Far East call centre so the first contact is with a female who doesn’t have the best grasp of the English language. She will then start asking questions from a script, many of which are irrelevant given the nature of the claim and some downside illogical. Firstly she will inform you that you aren’t insured because you didn’t report the ‘accident’ to them first & had it repaired out of their control. (She doesn’t grasp that driving without a door mirror is illegal & it is unlikely that a pattern part would be available) Then, after many illogical & irrelevant questions she said to me, when I had just offered dash cam evidence of the ‘accident’, “were you driving on the wrong side of the road” At this point I went ballistic and demanded to speak to someone in higher authority who took a few details & told me that the claim was now in progress. Shortly afterwards I received an email asking me to complete a survey about my claims experience. I didn’t hold back! The following day I received a call from a senior member of the DL customer service dept who apologised to me about the experience. He told me that he had listened to the entire recording of the conversation and could fully understand my frustrations. In his words “it was a 40minute call which should have been over within 10 minutes, It was a simple own damage claim & the female concerned would be undergoing further extensive training.”
  21. Octopus Go (East of England rates) 00.30 - 05.30. 8.5p/kwh 0530 - 00.30. 24.39p/kwh Standing charge 47.85/day
  22. Just to close off this little event, I did claim from my insurers who didn’t make it easy but we got there in the end and I received the payout last week. Roll on to this week and my insurer for the past 7 years, Direct Line, decided to try to start claiming back what they had paid out by inflating my renewal premium from £460 last year to £1027 for the next 12 months. (Note that I had NCD protection). Today I renewed with Admiral who quoted me £605 on the Lexus (recent claim declared) and £220 for the wife’s MX5 if I was to insure that with them as well. So both cars on the Admiral Gold policy for £825 against the £1027 Direct Line quote for the Lexus. This afternoon I decided to have a bit of fun and called Direct Line to ask if they wanted to reconsider their quote since I had found a cheaper insurer. TBF they could reduce it, they came back and offered me £970 😂 so I just said “good bye”
  23. Dealer is pulling the wool ver your eyes - OTA map updates don’t yet exist, they never did, only in the Lexus marketing spiel
  24. Dealer responsibility, according to mine, because the Lexus promised OTA map updates haven’t yet materialised
  25. Why pay for them? Map updates are FOC for the first 3 years and should be done by the dealer. I don’t understand your point “dealer unable to assist” it is their responsibility to do the map updates when requested to do so for the first 3 years. Dealer also provided FOC courtesy car for the day when they did mine. Maybe you need a showdown with your dealer?
