  1. I updated my 2017 CT with a USB from satnavishop in 2022. Just followed their instructions, "Started" the car, switched A/C, lights etc. off and started the update. Took 100 minutes, and I'm not sure if the engine actually ran during that time, but had no trouble. It was a 2022 update but the map was dated 06/2021, so was already out of date. Haven't updated it since. If I'm going anywhere that involves new(ish) road layouts, I just use Google Maps on my smartphone in a vent mounted holder. Irritating when you've alread got a built-in satnav, but Google, and doubtless other phone based systems, are far superior to anything the Lexus system can offer. Shame it doesn't have a working screen mirroring system in the car.
  2. No. It had been serviced by an independent.
  3. It must have been pre-pandemic, but it was the main Toyota dealer in Leicester, as that was the nearest to me when the battery died. The dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and I realised I only had the ICE for power, but everything appeared to work. Made it to the dealer just because I didn't fancy driving it with virtually all the warning lights on. They charged me £100+ to read the diagnostics and told me it needed a new battery, but they would waive that fee if I bought the battery from them. The guy serving me said he'd been there 10 years and in all that time had only seen about 3 battery failures. They could still get one the next day though.
  4. It worked as well as the original for the subsequent two years, until I traded it in at a used car dealer.
  5. As far as I know and believed at the time, it was a replacement "new" battery. No longer have the invoice, but I would have noticed if it said repair, rather than replacement.
  6. It was £1600 fitted, and they waived the diagnostic test fee - which probably told them which cell needed replacing! Totally in agreement with you on aftermarket batteries, and I'd decided to hang on to the Prius for a few more years anyway. Eventually traded it in for more than the cost of the new battery, 🙂
  7. Interesting conversation I had with a Lexus dealer when my Prius battery was dead. He wouldn't offer me any more than scrap value for the Prius as a trade in. The Toyota dealer had offered me quite a bit more and the Lexus dealer said maybe Toyota knew they could fix it for very little and send it to auction, but the official fix is a whole new battery. Needed the car, went for the new battery (which was available next day) and ran the car for a few more years before trading it in for a CT - getting a reasonable price because I had the receipt for a new hybrid battery!
  8. I had a Prius before my CT. It's hybrid battery died when it was 1 year past its 10 year warranty. Cost £1600 to replace by Toyota. Shudder to think what Lexus charge for a CT battery. I don't believe it's really a DIY job, unless you're a confident mechanic.
  9. I had the same problem with a Nokia smartphone, that had worked for a few years, then started to have problems both calling out and answering calls. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Changed the phone for a Samsung one and the problem went away. So, worth trying a different phone if you can to see if that is where the problem lies. Obviously the CT200h will have an older version of Bluetooth in it, but later versions found in current smartphones are supposed to be backward compatible.
  10. I've used that website to get the update for my 2017 CT2000h map. It installed no problem, taking the 90 minutes they said it would. You have to send them a photo of your navigation system details screen to get an installation code, but it works. Of course, the map you get is out of date before you even load it, and Google maps on a smartphone is far superior and accurate, even if you can't link a phone to the car screen. Do be wary of leaving the car parked if you're going away on holiday for a few weeks. It can drain the small 12V battery and the car won't unlock or start without it, so you have to use the mechanical key to get in. Can be "jump started" into a Ready state though. I know from experience with a Prius, but my CT200h did survive me being away for 3 weeks, although I left it unlocked in a (locked) garage, so that the alarm wasn't activated.
  11. I had a 2006 Prius before my 2017 CT. The Prius had a much smoother ride and was more economical. The Satnav had barely changed, apart from being DVD based in the Prius to a hard drive that only Lexus can update, for a large fee. I did get a much cheaper update on a USB stick eventually. The biggest irritation with the SatNav (I have the rotating knob control) is that you rotate clockwise to zoom OUT and anti-clockwise to zoom IN on the map. It is so unintuitive. Add to that it still can't find an address from the full postcode and it's difficult to see how Toyota improved it in 11 years. And don't get me started on the stupid heated seat controls! Nice looking car, but no wonder they discontinued it.
  12. Don't know what prices are like in Ireland, but it seems a bit expensive for what it is. I'd want full Lexus service history for that price and mileage. Take it for a test drive and thoroughly try all the controls and systems. There's no way it will return 120km/gallon, as the details state. It's not "LED lamps all round" either.
  13. Got in the CT200h today, adjusted the clock and remembered the SatNav clock setting is not where you'd expect to find it so looked elsewhere. Found it without having to find my notes and switched on Daylight Saving. Clock was then right. So why does the car have two clocks that are not linked to each other, and neither is capable of automatically adjusting for daylight saving, like so many other gadgets have done for years? The car is only the "Luxury" spec, so maybe I'm expecting too much! Rant over (for 6 months anyway). 🙂
  14. Well, I left it parked for 4 weeks, unlocked as it was in a locked garage, and it started just as normal when I returned. Don't know if leaving it unlocked, and therefore the alarm was not active, made any difference, but it was nice to come back to a car ready to go, something my old Prius never managed!
  15. Thanks. Mine in that position is indeed labeled SHORT PIN. Think as NemesisUK says, removing it might not be the best idea. Will be switching off as many electrical outlets as possible when I go away, so don't really want to leave a charger of any type plugged in. Could take that fuse out one day and see what happens I suppose...
