  1. In relation to the car safety kit, there is no slot in the boot for it because it needs to be stored in the cabin (or at least the reflective jackets and warning triangle need to be) in order to comply with French law.
  2. My original plan was to go plug-in hybrid, then full EV after 3-4 yrs. However, I have been disappointed with plug-in hybrid in terms of MPG and not being able to use the Lexus charging stations really hacked me off. Also, I am not convinced that PI Hybrid and EVs are holding their value, so concerned about how much I would get for my Hybrid after 3-4 years when potential buyers start thinking about battery replacement costs. Was thinking about going back to an ICE; the ZEV mandate comes into force in 2024 in UK (Car manufacturers will be fined £15000 per non-EV vehicle sold short of the EV target sales) so thought if I was going to go back to ICE then better to do it now before ZEV kicks in. Thinking it through, I absolutely love the build quality, engineering and driving experience of a Lexus NX. There are software niggles but my wife has a brand new top-of-the-range BMW and has been similar software niggles so this is not an issue unique to Lexus. The after sales issue can be easily solved if my dealer gets a ticketing system in place. In any event, I have some legitimate complaints about my dealer's after sales and a documented history of how crap my dealer has been. On the other hand I love the driving experience but I want to go back to ICE (and need to do it ASAP to beat ZEV mandates). So, I thought if I leverage my previous bad experience with my dealer and highlight the issues I have had with the Plug-in hybrid, that would put my dealer on the back foot. Then switch gears, so to speak, about how if only they could stop being crap I might think about the NX 350h ICE and I might even think about top of the range, but I'd only consider that if I got some assurances about the crap service and (more importantly) got a REALLY good deal (which I know they are willing to do because they know ZEV is coming in and they have got to shift those ICE models now because they will have to be pushing only EV next year to meet the targets), then maybe I might just reconsider. 😄 I had planned to speak to my dealer this week about it all but then the new manager of the dealership phoned out of the blue anyway to see how I was getting on with my car (and no doubt was then planning to sell me an upgrade). So, negotiated a great deal and job done.
  3. I bought an NX450+H about 18 months ago. I have had quite a few problems with it and just haven't been getting the mileage that I anticipated, am only getting 40 mpg (probably due to the lack of city driving that I do). I have never been able to get the charging station component of the apps working (have had an open ticket with Lexus for 18 months on this but still no update). Overall the after-care has been abysmal with me regularly having to chase up issues that I raise weeks later, after having no contact from the dealer. Having said that, I really enjoy the driving experience of the NX, so I had a big moan to my dealer about the poor after-care and lack of resolution of the issues that I have reported. I ended up ordering a brand new NX 350h Takumi last week. Just had a call with the dealer, it arrives at the dealership tomorrow, so can collect on Friday(!). I am guessing that there must have been a spare NX in exactly the spec I ordered floating round...no way they built and transported it that quick unless they are now working Christmas miracles.
  4. Whilst using the inbuilt charger you will be running as pure ICE, however charging is so efficient (especially on rural roads) that it will be much cheaper than using a home charger or charging station, IMHO. Yes, your mpg will go down during charging, but not catastrophically so. In Once you leave an urban area, just hold the EV/HV toggle (below the gear shift) for several seconds to put it in charge mode - I think you will be surprised how quickly it charges.
  5. I have an android phone, I use the NaviBridge app to send my destination to the Infotainment system via bluetooth if I want to use the built-in Nav system. TBH, I tend to use either the TomTomGo or Radarbot apps via Android Auto if I am going any great distance. The audible warning for speed cameras on the built-in Nav system is inaudible if I have the radio on at even a media level of volume TomTomGo and Radarbot have excellent audio and visual warnings.
  6. @Philbo64 - to change the units to KMH; on the infotainment unit go to: Settings - General - Language & Units. Set the set the "Trip Info.unit" setting to KM/h. Distances and speed will then be set to KMh in both the dashboard and HUD.
  7. I bought a mains charging cable with a french plug on it and charged it with no problem from the mains in France. Charging at a charging station with the standard cable was a bit like playing roulette; being charged anything from £20 to £60 on one occasion. TBH, I find I don't generally need to charge at home or charging stations. The in-journey charging is so efficient I don't need to charge from chargers. If I drive down to London, the battery gets fully charged after about 70 miles, so I switch to pure electric when I get into London. I generally travel sufficient distances to fully charge the battery before I need to use the electric motor in my home town. Before you go, make sure you know where to find the setting to change from MPH to KPH in the infotainment system. I mistakenly thought that the vehicle auto-sensed when it was in a new country and automatically changed the settings...it doesn't! It is a bit of a faff to find the right menu so make sure you have found it before you go. The biggest issue I found when touring in France is the autodipping of headlights. I occasionally get flashed by other users in the UK when using the autodipping, but in rural France a night it was happening A LOT. Not sure if it was a software issue or what but it became quite stressful. I took the vehicle into the dealer as soon as I got back, but they told me the system was working as expected. I'd be very interested to hear your experience.
  8. My dealer has just informed me that there is going to be another recall for my car in July (NX 450h+), no details on what the issue is or the scope of the recall. I guess it is nothing serious if they are holding back on the announcement.
  9. I just installed the latest OTA update, but now my Android Phone is not recognised by the HUD. Everything was fine before the update. Anyone else having this problem?
  10. I took mine in last week for the LTA fix, and now LTA doesn't work AT ALL! It's going back to the garage to fix this, the petrol cap filler issue, and a bunch of other problems that I reported in August but they still haven't looked at.
  11. I have the full adaptive high beams and am getting flashed regularly, particularly after overtaking on motorways and dual-carriageways. One think that I am not sure of: In complete darkness on country roads, no traffic and no ambient light at all, the full beams seem to light up only 10 - 15 metres ahead, when I pull the headlight stalk towards me, the entire road is illuminated briefly for quite a long distance. I would have though that the full illumination would be default when driving on a completely dark, empty road?
  12. Yes, having the same problem with my NX 450H+. Have had no working windscreen washing for 3 days solid. Even a 2.5 hour trip down south didn't warm the system sufficiently to de-ice. AA came out and said that other Lexus owners were having the same problem. He had a stash of glass cleaner and cloths for exactly this problem, he handed over part of the stash to me.
  13. It's on my 450+h, but the alert is relatively discrete and you can miss the alert if you have the radio on too loud. I use the TomTom app after connecting my phone to the head unit
  14. OK, I have been experimenting with the settings and confirmed that are significant issues (or at least "undocumented features") related to features at Settings - General - Language & Units. As previously explained, I had to disable the "auto-detect" settings for Measurements and set the "Trip Info.unit" to KM/h in order to get the dash and HUD to display speed in KM/h when I drove to France. I found that in this configuration, auto-dipping of headlights and auto windscreen wipers didn't work (I had to operate these manually). I have also found that in this configuration, the button to "Close & Lock" the boot door does not work - the one located in the boot lid (other MY 22 NX users should be able to confirm this by setting up the above config, open the boot then trying the "Close & Lock" button). Now, on the surface this might seem quirky, but I am not sure that I have enumerated all of the electronic systems that are impacted when you configure the above settings, which you will need to do if you drive the vehicle to the continent. It is clear that the "auto-detect" Measurements feature impacts a lot of other components so disabling it currently has significant impact on other electronic systems. One night last week, my wife was driving the car in France. The headlights failed to dip when a vehicle approached, whilst my wife was feverishly trying to find the switch to manually dip the headlights, the other driver turned on his full beams, dazzling my wife and causing us to leave the road. Fortunately the wife manage to recover, but this shows that this is not a trivial issue. If you are taking your NX to the continent BE AWARE! I am escalating the issue to Lexus now.
  15. I have now returned to the UK, re-enabled the auto-detect regional settings feature...and most of the problems I have been experiencing have disappeared. Auto-dipping of headlights when vehicles are approaching works just fine and the automated windscreen wipers are now working properly. Weird!!
  16. This situation is bizarre - auto full beam dipping is not working, but only seems to be an issue for my car. Here is my theory: I have been in France over past couple of weeks. AFAIK, the vehicle is supposed to auto-detect when you are in a new country and change the settings accordingly. This feature didn't work; I had to disable the auto-detect regional settings feature in order to manually select Kilometre distance units. I think that car detects oncoming traffic based on country location, so if you are in the UK it will sense oncoming traffic to the right (and auto-dip the headlights accordingly). I think that the auto-detect regional settings feature also sets the vehicle up to start detect oncoming traffic to the left of the vehicle (cos you are now driving on the right of the road). As the auto-detect feature doesn't work and I had to disable it so that I could manually select Kilometer distance units to avoid breaking speed limits, I think the car is still in its default mode of sensing oncoming traffic from the right, hence it is failing to auto-dip headlights 'cos it is sensing in the wrong direction. Am only speculating here but it would explain why no-one else is having the same issues. Has any other UK owner on the forum taken their MY 22 NX to the continent and had the same issues?
  17. Having now driven the vehicle in all sorts of conditions, I am now actively resentful of the car. Nagging me sometimes every 2 minutes if I want to close the windows, failing to dip the full beams automatically when vehicles are approaching, failing to auto-wipe the windscreen when drenched in rain (and auto-wiping in dry conditions) the list is endless. I have triple checked that I have the correct settings, but the list of problems continues to grow. I still can't charge the vehicle on the Lexus network and 10 days after my initial complaint to my dealer (with escalation to the manager), still no response. Harsh words will be exchanged upon my return to the UK. Am beyond fed-up.
  18. It's a feature of my 450+h Takumi and it works REALLY well (unlike standard features such as Auto-wipers and auto-full beam)
  19. Can now confirm! I have an alternative charging service (Electric Juice) and found a supported charger this morning. Cost to fully charge the vehicle was £14.38 (!!!). It is deffo not economical to charge the vehicle away from home. Also not sure why it takes 2hrs 30mins to fully charge on my 7kw home charger and 2hrs 20mins to fully charge on a 24kw charger.
  20. There seems to have been an uptick in NX 450+h deliveries recently, so thought it would be useful to get some feedback from owners on how happy they are with their purchase. For me I would give it 6.5 out of 10 and wouldn't recommend it to a friend. Overall, the vehicle is fabulous from an engineering POV. The Adaptive Cruise Control with Keep Lane Assist is a thing of beauty. It's a great, comfortable ride and makes for relaxing journeys. The only engineering issue I have is with the vibration through the accelerator pedal when driving at speed outside of urban areas, which I find irritating. The reason for my low score is the tech, which is close to disastrous, IMHO. Here are some of the issues I am having: Profiles not loading: Well documented here, but it is infuriating having to log into my account to get my profile loaded when the vehicle loads my wife's profile when we get in the vehicle. Even then the seat, steering wheel etc has to be set up again every time we want to go somewhere. The presets on the door panel don't work either. Can't charge vehicle away from home: I activated an account for the Lexus Charging Network. Activation was successful and I received my RFID card, however both the card and app fails to unlock any charging stations in the Lexus network. The app is now mysteriously showing that the activation of the card charging service is "Pending". The company who issued the card claim that everything is working and I need to speak to Lexus to sort the app out. Lexus have failed to answer my emails regarding this issue (so much for their supposedly fabulous customer service). I am on holiday in France and have been unable to charge the vehicle so am in my 3rd tank of petrol since I got the car 3 weeks ago. International Auto-detect settings not working:. Vehicle was configured to auto-detect and change units and distances abroad - this failed when I got to France; everything was still shown in MPH. Had to pull over and spend 20 minutes trying to find the correct menu to change to KMPH. Having done that, the vehicle reverts back to auto-detect when you end a journey, so you have to manually change it again at the start of every journey (after you have finished setting up the profile, seat positions etc). Even when you do set it up, speed is shown in KMPH but distances to next turning is expressed in yards and miles. Suspect incorrect speed shown in dashboard and HUD: I got so fed up with the in car navigation that I tried using the Tom-Tom phone app via Android-Auto. There is a variance of 2-3 KMPH between what the car says is the current vehicle speed and what Tom-Tom says is the current speed. Going past road furniture that displays your current speed, it seems Tom-Tom is reporting the speed correctly and the Lexus is reporting it incorrectly. Numerous niggles: The infotainment system has lots of sub-optimal features for a vehicle in the Luxury segment. E.G plug in a USB drive containing folders of music and it won't list them in alphabetical order - you have to scroll up and down till you find the folder you are looking for. Taken together, these issues have made the whole ownership experience to be quite miserable. Love the engineering, but hate the ownership experience. If it wasn't for the long wait times to get any new vehicle built I would be seriously considering rejecting this car. I just have to hope they can sort the issues out with software updates.
  21. Am currently in France, just spent 90 chuffing minutes trying to lock the car, but it simply refused. Triple checked the doors, the boot, the sun roof...then triple checked again...and again...and again, but it would not lock. Checked the petrol cap, the charging port but it just wouldn't lock. Eventually I noticed that the "Minister for War" had left her key-fob in the car cup-holder. I removed it from the car and the vehicle locked straight-away. I. HAVE. NOT.THE.WORDS!!!!
  22. Make sure you have subscribed to the smart services and connected services.
  23. Try plugging in and starting the charge via your Hive app (that should lock the cable) then switching to your Lexus Link app and setting a schedule for the early hours. With my setup that stops the charging, but keeps the cable locked, charging occurs at the scheduled time. Make sure that the car is locked when you start the charging.
  24. Certainly for the North American market it will not be available for 2022 builds, but possible for 2023 builds. Not sure whether it is a regulatory thing and thus may still be released in Europe but I am assuming that the feature will not be available globally. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/nx-2nd-gen-2022-current/985033-remote-parks-is-gone-for-the-2022-nx.html
