All the stuff in the boot!
Stumpyuk replied to Timbobobcat's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
In relation to the car safety kit, there is no slot in the boot for it because it needs to be stored in the cabin (or at least the reflective jackets and warning triangle need to be) in order to comply with French law. -
NX 2023 delivery date

My original plan was to go plug-in hybrid, then full EV after 3-4 yrs. However, I have been disappointed with plug-in hybrid in terms of MPG and not being able to use the Lexus charging stations really hacked me off. Also, I am not convinced that PI Hybrid and EVs are holding their value, so concerned about how much I would get for my Hybrid after 3-4 years when potential buyers start thinking about battery replacement costs. Was thinking about going back to an ICE; the ZEV mandate comes into force in 2024 in UK (Car manufacturers will be fined £15000 per non-EV vehicle sold short of the EV target sales) so thought if I was going to go back to ICE then better to do it now before ZEV kicks in. Thinking it through, I absolutely love the build quality, engineering and driving experience of a Lexus NX. There are software niggles but my wife has a brand new top-of-the-range BMW and has been similar software niggles so this is not an issue unique to Lexus. The after sales issue can be easily solved if my dealer gets a ticketing system in place. In any event, I have some legitimate complaints about my dealer's after sales and a documented history of how crap my dealer has been. On the other hand I love the driving experience but I want to go back to ICE (and need to do it ASAP to beat ZEV mandates). So, I thought if I leverage my previous bad experience with my dealer and highlight the issues I have had with the Plug-in hybrid, that would put my dealer on the back foot. Then switch gears, so to speak, about how if only they could stop being crap I might think about the NX 350h ICE and I might even think about top of the range, but I'd only consider that if I got some assurances about the crap service and (more importantly) got a REALLY good deal (which I know they are willing to do because they know ZEV is coming in and they have got to shift those ICE models now because they will have to be pushing only EV next year to meet the targets), then maybe I might just reconsider. 😄 I had planned to speak to my dealer this week about it all but then the new manager of the dealership phoned out of the blue anyway to see how I was getting on with my car (and no doubt was then planning to sell me an upgrade). So, negotiated a great deal and job done. -
NX 2023 delivery date

I bought an NX450+H about 18 months ago. I have had quite a few problems with it and just haven't been getting the mileage that I anticipated, am only getting 40 mpg (probably due to the lack of city driving that I do). I have never been able to get the charging station component of the apps working (have had an open ticket with Lexus for 18 months on this but still no update). Overall the after-care has been abysmal with me regularly having to chase up issues that I raise weeks later, after having no contact from the dealer. Having said that, I really enjoy the driving experience of the NX, so I had a big moan to my dealer about the poor after-care and lack of resolution of the issues that I have reported. I ended up ordering a brand new NX 350h Takumi last week. Just had a call with the dealer, it arrives at the dealership tomorrow, so can collect on Friday(!). I am guessing that there must have been a spare NX in exactly the spec I ordered floating round...no way they built and transported it that quick unless they are now working Christmas miracles. -
Continental Trip 450+

Whilst using the inbuilt charger you will be running as pure ICE, however charging is so efficient (especially on rural roads) that it will be much cheaper than using a home charger or charging station, IMHO. Yes, your mpg will go down during charging, but not catastrophically so. In Once you leave an urban area, just hold the EV/HV toggle (below the gear shift) for several seconds to put it in charge mode - I think you will be surprised how quickly it charges. -
I have an android phone, I use the NaviBridge app to send my destination to the Infotainment system via bluetooth if I want to use the built-in Nav system. TBH, I tend to use either the TomTomGo or Radarbot apps via Android Auto if I am going any great distance. The audible warning for speed cameras on the built-in Nav system is inaudible if I have the radio on at even a media level of volume TomTomGo and Radarbot have excellent audio and visual warnings.

Continental Trip 450+

@Philbo64 - to change the units to KMH; on the infotainment unit go to: Settings - General - Language & Units. Set the set the "Trip Info.unit" setting to KM/h. Distances and speed will then be set to KMh in both the dashboard and HUD. -
Continental Trip 450+

I bought a mains charging cable with a french plug on it and charged it with no problem from the mains in France. Charging at a charging station with the standard cable was a bit like playing roulette; being charged anything from £20 to £60 on one occasion. TBH, I find I don't generally need to charge at home or charging stations. The in-journey charging is so efficient I don't need to charge from chargers. If I drive down to London, the battery gets fully charged after about 70 miles, so I switch to pure electric when I get into London. I generally travel sufficient distances to fully charge the battery before I need to use the electric motor in my home town. Before you go, make sure you know where to find the setting to change from MPH to KPH in the infotainment system. I mistakenly thought that the vehicle auto-sensed when it was in a new country and automatically changed the settings...it doesn't! It is a bit of a faff to find the right menu so make sure you have found it before you go. The biggest issue I found when touring in France is the autodipping of headlights. I occasionally get flashed by other users in the UK when using the autodipping, but in rural France a night it was happening A LOT. Not sure if it was a software issue or what but it became quite stressful. I took the vehicle into the dealer as soon as I got back, but they told me the system was working as expected. I'd be very interested to hear your experience. -
Latest Recall….
Stumpyuk replied to hintonwood's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
My dealer has just informed me that there is going to be another recall for my car in July (NX 450h+), no details on what the issue is or the scope of the recall. I guess it is nothing serious if they are holding back on the announcement. -

I took mine in last week for the LTA fix, and now LTA doesn't work AT ALL! It's going back to the garage to fix this, the petrol cap filler issue, and a bunch of other problems that I reported in August but they still haven't looked at. -
Question - auto high beam
Stumpyuk replied to Pm4's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I have the full adaptive high beams and am getting flashed regularly, particularly after overtaking on motorways and dual-carriageways. One think that I am not sure of: In complete darkness on country roads, no traffic and no ambient light at all, the full beams seem to light up only 10 - 15 metres ahead, when I pull the headlight stalk towards me, the entire road is illuminated briefly for quite a long distance. I would have though that the full illumination would be default when driving on a completely dark, empty road? -
Windscreen / Headlamp washers
Stumpyuk replied to Ken R's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Yes, having the same problem with my NX 450H+. Have had no working windscreen washing for 3 days solid. Even a 2.5 hour trip down south didn't warm the system sufficiently to de-ice. AA came out and said that other Lexus owners were having the same problem. He had a stash of glass cleaner and cloths for exactly this problem, he handed over part of the stash to me. -
speed camera alerts
Stumpyuk replied to johns250's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
It's on my 450+h, but the alert is relatively discrete and you can miss the alert if you have the radio on too loud. I use the TomTom app after connecting my phone to the head unit -
OK, I have been experimenting with the settings and confirmed that are significant issues (or at least "undocumented features") related to features at Settings - General - Language & Units. As previously explained, I had to disable the "auto-detect" settings for Measurements and set the "Trip Info.unit" to KM/h in order to get the dash and HUD to display speed in KM/h when I drove to France. I found that in this configuration, auto-dipping of headlights and auto windscreen wipers didn't work (I had to operate these manually). I have also found that in this configuration, the button to "Close & Lock" the boot door does not work - the one located in the boot lid (other MY 22 NX users should be able to confirm this by setting up the above config, open the boot then trying the "Close & Lock" button). Now, on the surface this might seem quirky, but I am not sure that I have enumerated all of the electronic systems that are impacted when you configure the above settings, which you will need to do if you drive the vehicle to the continent. It is clear that the "auto-detect" Measurements feature impacts a lot of other components so disabling it currently has significant impact on other electronic systems. One night last week, my wife was driving the car in France. The headlights failed to dip when a vehicle approached, whilst my wife was feverishly trying to find the switch to manually dip the headlights, the other driver turned on his full beams, dazzling my wife and causing us to leave the road. Fortunately the wife manage to recover, but this shows that this is not a trivial issue. If you are taking your NX to the continent BE AWARE! I am escalating the issue to Lexus now.
