….just a brief marginally clarification review concerning the RAF Medmenham mini novel, earlier 🧐😳 of course, all the aircrew’s and other RAF staff ( and, indeed, everyone in the UK ) knew something was going to happen in 1944 soon ‘when the balloon go’s up’ ! what they did not know was when and where. initially, D-day was planned for May then put back to June - then The 5th was delayed to The 6th because of poor weather. invading Allied troop’s would only have been finally told of the detail’s on The 4th ! intro topic now closed. 🤐

….Malcolm - hi ! just knew you would make a good PI ( Photo Interpreter ) - did you use your stereoscope to discover that nugget about the exhaust ! 😃 last January, jumped, well unfolded (6’ 5” ), behind the wheel, started engine and instantly could here a slight but distant V8 rumble - had Mr Toyoda heard that he would have gone incandescent with rage - not very Lexus but 170k and failed mot now looming ! have previously owned Camaro 5.7 + Mustang 5.0 - both designed for the ‘ V8 rumble’ to irritate the neighbour’s - not Lexus ! knew the rumble would become louder so found a 5* fabricator called Krolltek ( see ticket ) near Newcastle. 3 hour’s later job done - back to the Bentley sound ! Kristian, co-owner, explained because the Tahara factory had used mild steel bracket’s / flanges’s on s/s system they had failed but the pipe work was ok. the entire front system was replaced in s/s from ( but not including ) the central in-line resonator to the cat’s - s/s flange’s and bracket’s fitted ! he also remarked that the system from the resonator back was ‘as good as new’ - good for anothe 170k mileage ! all this for - £ 390, bargain! ( one workshop quoted £ 1.200 for the work, cash ! - alway’s get a second or third quote, guy’s, so many shark’s out there ! ). anthony

….thought ! vehicle registered in 09 / 2000 - could be fitted in transition to replacement LS 430 - their first reg’s were on an X plate ! maybe, a Lexus LS 430 owner could help ? anthony
-
….no, Chris - I have that Lexus option already installed ! bright banded yellow and black handle over driver’s headrest, in emergency - sharp pull forward, the canopy disappear’s in the slipstream and seat and driver are rocketed, literally, vertically upward’s 200 metre’s at 100 mph complete with drink’s holder - parachute deploy’s immediately on descent ! front passenger has one too - say’s Martin Baker on the headrest’s. 😳
-
….hi - guy’s ! need some help please ! could a Lexus LS 400 year 2000 expert tell me what this press button switch actually activate’s ? have owned car for nearly 3 year’s - never found out what it doe’s ! no mention in Owner’s Handbook. driver’s door sound’s a bong every time it is opened - no effect using this button ! button positioned just to the right of the bonnet release lever under offside dash. all suggestion’s welcome - thank you. anthony

…..Maintenance Service Record’s for my Lexus LS 400: I want you all to imagine you are standing, looking down a long, wide, open plan office. row after row of utility desk’s, at least 6 wide, disappearing into the distance, all manned by both male and female, uniformed, service personnel all poring over document’s using magnifying glasse’s with the buzz of continuous activity and whispered conversation’s.. the air feels tense and is a haze of blue cigarette smoke (☹️). the time ? 13.00 hour’s, the date of the month ? the 5th, the month ? May, the year ? 1944 ! your location ? RAF Medmenham, Central Interpretation Unit ( CIU ), Buck’s. the RAF nerve centre for Photo Reconnaissance. startled, you, and many of the Photo Interpreter’s, look up at the window as first a Mosquito PR ( max 396mph ), V12 Merlin engine’s screaming at full throttle, as it accelerate’s down the runway promptly followed by a Spitfire PR Mk X1 ( max 362 mph ). both totally unarmed- sheer speed was their only protection ! both flew at 30 to 35.000 feet. neither aircrew would have known ( or, indeed, even any of the RAF staff ) why they were tasked with endless sortie’s to snap the French coast and inland area’s, day after day….🤔🤫 fast forward to today, 5th May 2024 ( 80 year’s later ! - I was day’s old, blissfully unaware of all this frenetic activity, fast asleep in my cot, I remember 😳 ) and you will all, shortly, become ( Lexus Owner’s Club ), civilian Photographic Interpreter ( PI’s ) ! how ? because I am about to reveal the detailed Maintenance Service Record’s of my Lexus LS 400 ! I just know you, like me, will all scrutinise all the recorded details like date’s, mileage, continuity, sequence’s, dealer’s, garage’s, workshop’s etc…..but remember, luckily, for us, no D-Day next month ! 🙂 voila….. anthony ps: for £ 4.495 - what ? pps: actually, your location would have been Daneshill House, Medmenham - I don’t believe it was near an operational airfield RAF base - call it author’s licence ? 😳
-
….very good question, Malcolm ! patience ! I do have a post pending titled ‘ so what exactly does not work on your Lexus LS 400, Anthony ?’. release likely tomorrow, now. need to compose / release ‘my Maintenance Service Record’s for my Lexus LS 400’ - within the hour - stay on this channel, folk’s ! 🙄😃🙄😃 anthony

….wow ! 😃 - 8.37 this morning, I am now granted The Explorer Badge ! Lexus Owner’s Club Suit’s - thank you - another badge to be worn with pride! I remember, when I was a Cub, 12, ( junior Boy Scout’s ) I was obsessed with the range of colourful ‘achievement badges’ to be worn on one’s sleeve’s of the dark green jumper ( remember those ? ). the best badge was for First Aid, bright white cross on bright red, triangular, backckground ! when Arkela was not looking I pinched that badge, and a handful of other’s, got my mum to sew them on both sleeve’s ( 😲) - no one ever said a word, not even mum ! ironically, have just attended a 2 day First Aid ( Driver’s ) Training Day and am now a fully qualified, certificated First Aider - what goe’s around, come’s around ! ( no bl**dy badge, though, wish I’d kept the old Cub one ! ☹️ ). anthony

….thank you Malcolm, wondered when you would pick up on that Island !🙄 - well done ! let me clarify the ‘ all off-shore oil rig’s’ listing for those Member’s (+ non-member’s ) feeling left out of being able to purchase my Lexus LS400: are you ‘domiciled’ in Great Britain, holding a gb / uk Passport and work on an off-shore oil / gas rig located in the North Sea, Irish Sea or North Atlantic? good new’s - you would be able to purchase my Lexus LS400 for continuing use in Great Britain ! anthony
-
….ISGSLS IRL, thank you, you are so kind - really appreciate your note. so sad we could not swap your Lexus LS600h for my Lexus LS400 + cash your way ! 🙄😃😃 anthony 😃
-
….Malcolm - I just wanted to say thank you for your very recent post regarding geographical area’s that should be added to my new (2nd) Term and Condition of Sale of my Lexus LS 400 (😳). in 36 post’s, now 37, you are the first Member to have challenged / questioned any of my contribution’s to date - 5.5 day’s from placing my original For Sale ad for my Lexus LS 400 ! as a now, established Lexus Owner’s Club Author, with over 1.200+ View’s in 5.5 day’s (😳🙄), I alway’s welcome any comment’s, critique’s and question’s ! …..an old ‘git, I am proud, at 80, to have been granted a promotion to ‘Apprentice’ - I shall wear The Badge with such pride. I shall continue to endeavour to work hard to be granted the ultimate badge of honour - Grand Master, before I sell my Lexus LL 400 ! ( 😲 ). anthony

….🙄 thank you Malcolm, ‘ I wondered when you would notice that, Wilson’ ( Dad’s Army 👨🚀, remember ? ). a new, additional, term and condition has now been listed concerning the sale of my Lexus LS 400: all interested Lexus Owner’s Club Member’s that reside in the following gb area’s (in addition to mainland gb ) are most welcome to contact me regarding the purchase of my, now illustrated, immaculate Lexus LS 400. these listed gb area’s are: IOW, IOM, Hebrides, Mull, Arran, Orkney’s, Shetland, Sky, Sheppey, Lundy, Skoholm, Skomer, Ramsey, Bardsey, Anglesey, Fleet, Great Cumbrae, Bute, Kintyre, Rhinn’s of Islay, Colonsay, Scarba, Garvellachs, Shuna, Luing, Kerrera, Iona, Ulva, Muck, Eigg, Rum, Canna, Stroma, Crowlin, Soay, Wiay, Scalpay, Rona, Ramsay, Crowlin, Longa, Kishorn, Pabay, Longay, Lewis, Harris, North Uist, South Uist, Barra, Ewe, Gruinard, Summer, Priest, Soyea, Martih, Horse, Oldany, Handa, Rabbit, Neeve, Farne, Holy, Coqurt, Reard’s, Horsey, Mersey, Thorne, Brownsea, Sully and all off-shore oil / gas rig’s. Malcolm, you list N.I in your suggestion list - unfortunately, for you : 1. this is an oversea’s kingdom 2. N.I is in the United Kingdom whereas Great Britain is only England, Scotland (🏴) and Wale’s - gotcha ! 😂🤣😅 anthony
-
….just a quick note to add a term and condition concerning the sale of my Lexus LS 400. I have received interest enquirie’s from a couple of oversea’s potential buyer’s. comfortable at the price and willing to collect for onward export to their home countrie’s. reluctantly, I have now decided to only sell my Lexus LS 400 to Great Britain purchaser’s only ( ie: GB mainland only ). why, you will ask ? simply due to the bureaucracy and unnecessary risk, hassle and stress ! the Author’s decision is final. anthony
-
….Malcolm - thank you…..how nice are you ! yes, all my passenger’s were so thrilled, when they first saw The Lexus, to be collected in a limo - then so silently whisked up to Edinburgh City - many drifting off to a blissful sleep in the back seat ! I used to tease them and say ‘ I understand you asked the office for the limousine, today’ - alway’s raised surprise and a chuckle 😃. probably around 5 of the total 10.5k miles, within 6+ month’s on cc dutie’s - all without missing a beat ! anthony
-
…..just a note to say a big Thank You to all my past, present ( and future ! ) Viewer’s as the counter has just moved up to 1.000 View’s !! your interest is amazing, thank you, again and give yourselves a round of applause……!👏👏👏👏👏👏😃😃😃😃😃😃 Anthony

mileage during ownership analysis: ….so Anthony, you purchased your Lexus LS 400 during July, 2021 at 160.189 mile’s at collection. the current mileage is displaying 170.688 which is + 10.449 mile’s. can you explain how you accrued this mileage over a near 3 year ownership period ( c 3.483 per year ). yes (😳), for two year’s, now, I have been a Volunteer Community Transport Driver for a major, national care and protection agency. the around 6 month’s of last year I was a member of their Cancer Car Team. the work involved the collection, from home, of single nhs cancer patient’s from all over The Scottish Border’s. our task was to drive / escort / care and protect them to The Western Hospital, Cancer Clinic, Edinburgh for treatment. very reluctantly, I had to stand down due to spiralling mileage and associated cost’s.I remain a Driver but now only accrue nominal, local, mileage. thank you, Anthony…. you are so welcome…(😳).

….oo’er, 36 replie’s to date and 23 ( now 24 ) of them are mine ! so sorry officer, my keyboard seem’s to have a mind of it’s own - maybe, it just get’s excited at the whirlwind speed of my one finger typing 😳! ( so admire 10 finger typing skill’s - why did the early, blossoming computer giant’s assume every new purchaser could type like skilled typewriter operator’s ? 🤔 ). today’s subject is my Lexus LS 400’s leather interior: open a door and sit yourself down in any of the 5 available seat’s and take in a 360* view of the interior cabin. excluding the fabric headlining, feel’s like cashmere-it’s not, and the rear shelf ( both unmarked ) you will note every surface is enrobed (😳-a chocolatier word ! ) in supple leather ! yes, every surface - front seat back panel’s / pocket’s even footwell side panel’s. my lifetime experience indicate’s many car brand’s save a measly few euro’s or gbp and use budget vinyl on unseen / unused area’s when offering ‘leather option’s’ - not Lexus, well not in the 90’s, anyway ! the swathe’s of leather surface’s are impeccable! no fading, no creasing, no cut’s, no tear’s, no staining, no crazing, no dryness - just a slim abraded / wear mark on the outside driver’s back cushion ( not seat ). my custom mixed ( from sample ) in Wessex, grey, Gliptone Scuffmastef Kit ( £44 ) has solved that flaw ! ….after nearly 24 year’s of use and 170.000+ mile’s, Anthony, how do you account for the outstanding condition of your leather interior and how has it been achieved ? 😳 ….er, I can only surmise no small children have been secured on the back seat or older children on the other seat’s ? the car may have been used only by the owner with occasional accompaniment’s ? historically, known as ‘an old git’s car’ ( like me 🙂 ! ) they tend to be treated with extra care and caution - which is how you get to be ‘an old git’ ! curiously, The LS 400 now has a quickly emerging ‘youngtimer’ following / attraction - maybe, they have twigged you can fit twin turbo’s+ and tune the affordable V8 power plant to increase power from 290 bhp to over 900 bhp ! 😲😲…has been done in the US ! …but I believe the main reason for the leather condition is because it has been cleaned, nourished and cared for ! cleaned ? ok, nourished ? meaning what, exactly ? with over 68 year’s of driving experience ( I was ploughing field’s at 12 behind the wheel of a Fordson Major Tractor ! 🫣 ) I have owned / driven many, many vehicle’s with the passenger car’s often fitted with leather interior’s. have only ever used Gliptone leather care product’s for the finest result’s - namely their: Leather Conditioner first then a follow-on application of Cleaner with Glycerine ! typically, I always apply The Cleaner twice a year ( following first Conditioner prep on receiving car ), whatever the leather fitted car, in the Spring and Autumn. thus, my Lexus has had 5 application’s to date, will apply the 6th prior to sale, in warm weather for absorbtion ! ….find a pair of your Wife’s / Girlfriend’s / Other’s kid gloves and feel the smooth, supple, moist and soft texture - my Lexus LS 400 leather feel’s the same ! 😃 moral: when you are inspecting a Lexus to purchase ( any model ) alway’s, alway’s do make sure the interior is in seriously good condition - you and your family and friend’s will be sitting in it for hour’s / year’s ahead ! 😲. ok, the outside metal part’s / panel’s may require improvement - but a skilled welder and paint sprayer can often solve the problem - but be careful it doesn’t up like Trigger’s Broom ! 😲. visit your local, very friendly, Lexus Main Dealer and ask, at the service desk, for a new centre arm rest in Wessex, grey, leather ( code 15 ) for a year 2000 Lexus LS 400 ! - watch his / her’s / other’s face break into a sympathetic half smile and with no attempt to access their keyboard to search they will just reply, knowingly ‘ NLA, I’m afraid’ ( No Longer Available ) !………that is why you need to purchase an older Lexus car with a very, very good leather interior ! ! ….ok, ok Anthony - show us how good your Lexus LS 400 leather interior really is ! bet the fitted carpet is filthy just like all the other’s I have seen ! …..here come the picture’s…… anthony ….£ 4.495 for all this and more - are you seriously kidding me, Anthony ? No - 😳 . coming soon : The Service History Record’s and a list of What does not work on my Lexus LS 400 !

….hello, Malcolm and thank you for your suggestion. a test drive ? of course, I shall be happy to demonstrate all the available and legal performance parameter’s of The LS plus any ancillary on-board driving support system’s ! will the Prospective Buyer be able to test drive The Lexus on The King’s Highway ? yes but only if they can produce a dedicated, hard copy, Insurance Certificate for my Lexus LS 400 - Registration No: OYY 655. why is that ? one may say - I have my Personal Comprehensive Insurance Certificate that, clearly, show’s a clause stating: Malcolm may also drive a motor car or motorcycle registered in the UK, Channel Island’s, or Isle of Man, which does not belong to them and is not hired to them under a hire purchase scheme.** ‘so what, exactly, is your problem, Anthony, in my test driving your car, today ?’ simple’s - my response would be: please remember that cover for driving another car or motorcycle is limited to Third Party Only which means there is no cover for any loss or damage to the vehicle being driven.** still a No - the car is not for you then, sir ! ( the only exception may be a test drive on one’s private land, that’s a no from me, or maybe a car park or other area not on the King’s Highway ) anthony **extracted directly from my current NFU Mutual Comprehensive Certificate of Motor Insurance.
-
…..Hugh - thank you, so much, for your encouraging note of support! yes, I shall dive onto my keyboard, as soon as the ‘folding’ is handed over and update all my Viewer’s accordingly! thank you, again anthony
-
….’tell me, do the sun visor light’s and folding door mirror’s work, chief ?’ you might ask. yes, is the answer… anthony
-
…..reversing sequence for my 2000 Lexus LS 400…… turn engine on and select reverse gear…. on selection only the near side door mirror panel tilt’s down to show the ground view in preparation to reverse to the left…. reverse to the right and the off side door mirror only tilt’s down to show similar… please don’t tell me how much it cost Toyota to design, fabricate, assemble and install a sensor that can calculate left from right steering - why not just tilt them both down - together 😲 ? that will be how Toyota spent $1bn to research and develop the Lexus LS 400, launched in the US in 1989 ! anthony
-
…..back again and again an……….!🙄 subject: Lexus LS 400 body panel gap’s. in the mid 80’s when the F1 Project ( Lexus to be ) was in development the industry norm for car panel gap’s was 7mm - Rover, probably more 🤭 ! only Mercedes - Benz managed to reduce their gap’s to 5mm. imagine the horror and dismay on the engineer / designer’s face’s to be told by Mr Toyoda’s suit’s that they WILL achieve 4mm 😲 for the F1 Project panel’s ! I have measured every panel gap on my Lexus LS 400 - all are 4mm ! did the engineer / designer team’s deliver ? check the picture’s out…….! anthony
-
….hi all ! you will miss me when I stand down when I sell my car - not! 🙄 here’s a pub quiz question unique to the 1997 - 2000 Lexus LS 400 ! look at the under front bumper light array. typical inboard Fog Light’s ok but also, what appear’s to be, Cornering Light’s. 🤔 a report indicate’s that Mr Toyoda’s crew picked up a rumour in the early 90’s that the US Feds were going to legislate for low level Amber run light’s to the front of all passenger vehicles ! ready to comply the ‘ Turn Light’s’ we’re a late design change in readiness for the new law! in fact, the legislation, if true, never materialised. in UK, Europe and USA they are dummy light’s - not wired into the main lighting loom - except Japan ! …..not many people know that…… anthony
