does your bonnet have two gas struts or just the one
My bonnet has 2, when looking at the engine bay the left one is 53440-50060 and right is 53450-50060 but any aftermarket strut should be fine.

I struggled to find an exact radiator replacement from Autodoc, Rockauto etc... I found they are either for older LS's or for US markets which have different radiators to ours unfortunately, otherwise I would have gone with that option myself.

Yep good idea, hopefully it's just that.
Forgot to mention it's even more of a bargain because pre 2006 models are on the lower tax band, so it's around £400/year instead of £735/year for the exact same car.

Oil Cooler Upgrade Kit for £145 from Lexus Spares Direct
Yes, I sent the link to your friend over on Discord.

The joints where the transmission lines enter the bottom of the radiator are the usual fail area.
As for the reversing cameras, I don't think they're too hard to come by on eBay and shouldn't set you back too much and again should be a nice easy DIY job to replace.
Sounds like you've had an absolute bargain at £1800 with that maintenance being done recently, great colour for the LS430 too.

As it has the "5024" mark it is the more expensive of the options, a new replacement one can be found here: https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ls-phase-3-radiator-mark-5024 . The part number is 16400-50241 ( 'MARK' 5024 Type B ).
Let us know once you've had a look through the paperwork to see if/when it has been replaced.
For a cheaper alternative you can install the external transmission cooler for around £150 which can be found on eBay from LexusSparesDirect and is an easy DIY job. This will protect the gearbox in the event the radiator does give out. -
I've always found the Bluetooth FM transmitters to do a decent job, I bought one for my first car on amazon for £15 and it still works now 4 and a half years later.
Nothing compares to an actual CD/direct phone input and it's nice to have the steering wheel controls too. Also something that I never see mentioned is the "Set" button next to the steering wheel volume controls, I use it a lot more than I thought I would for example pulling up somewhere late at night/early morning and being able to set the volume to 10 with the press of a button.

Does the error have any more detail or does it just say "error"?

There are 3 listed but only 2 for a 2006 LS430. If the top of the radiator has '5024' as the 'MARK' (and probably Denso number 422132-3836 on it) then there is only one option which is 16400-50241 ( 'MARK' 5024 Type B ).
That's my opinion anyway and I think the 'MARK' on the top of the old radiator is the key, assuming the correct one is fitted the car in the first place.Sorry I missed out that info! The MARK is '5024', so https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ls-phase-3-radiator-mark-5024/ 16400-50241 ( 'MARK' 5024 Type B ) looks like the best bet.
Thanks everyone for your help!

Hi, can someone tell me where I can source a replacement radiator, part no. 422132-3836
I have looked on Rockauto and amayama and whilst there are radiators, none share the same part number - am I alright to use these? I know that some radiators (USDM maybe?) don't have an expansion tank to the left of the engine bay like mine.
I have been looking at this one https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=4722936&cc=1432014&pt=2172&jsn=2797
Thanks. -
This is most likely a "feature" of the smart key where holding the unlock button for a period of time will unlock the doors and then open all windows and the sunroof. Holding the lock button will close them.
This becomes a problem if you accidentally sit on the unlock button when the keys are in your pocket for example - my bets are on this.
If you can rule this out by trying it yourself then I'm not sure of the issue.

what's interesting is that for a car registered on 1 August 1991, the MOT records only start in 2006 - does anyone know why this is so?
All MOTs pre 2006 will not "exist" when checking online as the test was not "computerised" yet.

It sounds like the pre-collision warning was triggered - did you feel a tightening of the seat belt at all?
Did it look similar to this video I came across? - I hope you wasn't driving like this 😋- 1

No "easy" way to turn off the stability control in the facelift models so no fun allowed 😁!

After going up massively this past year, my renewal is actually down a fair amount to the same price I was paying when I was 19 - still one of the cheapest cars to insure that I've looked at. I can't complain really when you see what other people my age are paying...
-
I thought about this recently, although in the UK - I've seen a fair few LS400's and quite a few SC430s' but only a handful of LS430's about, always give/receive a flash of the lights or a beep from all however, even the odd comment here and there.

Glad we figured it out!
Just now, Newbie777 said:So is that right that when I park on my drive slightly uphill the compressor will come on now and then?
That is correct. Usually once I have parked the compressor will kick in after about 10 seconds, I then wait for it to stop before switching the car off just so it is level.
You may also notice it after coming to a stop after travelling at high speeds. This is because the car will lower itself down to improve fuel economy above 60mph I believe.
If you can feel the compressor kick in through the footwell area, the mounts may need replacing on the air compressor - I have left mine at the moment as I don't really mind the noise/vibration.- 1

Have not heard the noise yet for a few days
Did you try manually adjusting the height of the air suspension, just to rule it out? You should have a button near the gear selector that says something like "Height - High" and should run the air compressor for around 30 seconds to raise the car a little bit.

I've only owned 2 Skoda Octavias and my current LS430 in my 4 years of driving so I am yet to own a sports car 😁.
The thought of an IS F does interest me greatly… -
Late to the topic but I have had a Carista OBD2 plugged in for months at a time and have had no issues in my LS430.

If you have air suspension then it could be the compressor kicking in? When parking up or stopping after driving at higher speeds I can hear and feel mine kick in for about 20-30 seconds to raise the car up.
You could try manually changing the cars height and listen out for the same noise.

I have recently noticed that when I am stopped in Drive with my foot on the brake, the car will idle at around 450-500rpm and I can feel a vibration through the steering wheel. When releasing the brake pedal, the car is sluggish to move meaning I am having to use the accelerator to move off. Before this the car would idle at around 550-600rpm in Drive and got up to at least 5mph without having to press the accelerator at all.
In Park and Neutral the RPM seems to be as it was before at around 750rpm. I have not really tested it in Reverse.
I was thinking it was perhaps throttle body/MAF sensor related but wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas. -

One thing I've noticed. Despite being in Power ECT mode, the engine doesn't seem to rev above 6k RPM at kickdown and full throttle. Isn't it suppose to reach approx 6.500 RPM or even around 7k, please check my video below?
My facelift 430 will not exceed 6,000 RPM under full acceleration either. That video looks completely normal to me other than the bouncing gauge needles, which I think is a common issue on the pre-facelift.

Not sure if it's much help as it's from a post-facelift (2006) but I do still have the old Nav disc that was in my car, dated 2011. It is also an aftermarket one but worked fine in my car before I changed it for a more updated one.
I'd be happy to send it your way if it's any help.

The part number for the rear pollen filter is 88508-30110 and it looks like Autodoc has a few aftermarket options from around £20. I don't think mine has ever been changed but still looked really clean when I inspected it. I only change the front pollen filter at service time.
