It would be good to switch it off, running an EMF meter close to it indicates that it may be on or at least doing something. Better not to have EMF exposure for something that would never be used

I cannot find this button on the 23MY version? Would also like to turn this off. The manual supplied with the car is for the 22MY!

ES Owners: Do You Realize How Powerful Your Headlights Are?
Cs150 replied to Rabbers's topic in Lexus ES 300h Club
With the adaptive system enabled when a car is coming head on sometimes the blue light is active on the dash showing full beam. Is this that the camera has missed the other vehicle do other owners know? Or is the system somehow protecting the other driver from being blinded? -
Interesting have had the vehicle for months and nothing. One way to ensure the feedback is positive to avoid disgruntled customers!
-
My 23MY ES was supplied with an owners manual for a 22MY vehicle which was full of references of the trackpad which the later releases do not have. So essentially supplied with an incorrect owners manual.
-
Interesting not been asked for feedback at all, perhaps they suspected it would be a little negative? See no evil hear no evil etc...
-
Have any other new ES owners been asked for feedback since collecting their new vehicle? Dealer advised I would be contacted a few weeks after the handover but it has been months now and nothing?

23 years no claims, they only seem to recognise 9 at most insurers. IAM member and price was £420. This is with Lexus insurance directly. Could have got it for around £380 with other insurers but went with Lexus directly. Not had to claim but in taking out the policy they were slow with the paperwork!

Liquid expands in higher temperatures so the dipstick must be deliberately set for this. Certainly at odds for non Toyota/Lexus vehicles have had in the past. You could argue that 0w16, 0w20 and 0w30 would have slightly different readings when hot based on expansion semantics. Would have made sense to also on the dipstick have a level that can be measured when the oil is cold
-
Noticed the level on my ES is a tiny bit below the max level when checking on a cold engine. It probably left the factory at that level as the vehicle is only a few months old. Over the years have checked the level on various cars with a cold engine but the manual mentions it should be checked after the engine has been run. Are other people with ES vehicles checking the oil level after running the engine for a short period?

Thought heated jets were on most modern cars these days? Is this position uniform throughout the entire Lexus range?

Sorry to say I just have not found the hype to be true with the local dealer, quite often limited parking with the neighbouring same franchise Toyota dealer using up the spaces. Not finding any parking and having to park offsite is also quite possible then undertaking what can be quite a significant walk. It was outstanding the day the new car was handed over but outside of this I am not seeing the dealer experience as being any better than other mainstream brands. Certainly not anything terrible but comparable to Toyota in terms of welcome and overall experience.

Great choice of colour, the Graphite really comes up well with some wax type product. I used two coats of Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection and it really brought out the flakes in the finish

What is the total cost for all genuine parts to fit including the revised boot tray and wheel plus any additional parts? It would be so much easier if a spare could have been ordered from the dealer when the vehicle was purchased new. Have given feedback to Lexus UK that a spare wheel not being officially offered is a significant oversight, doubt they will consider the feedback though.

Such car parks are best avoided in the ES, the tuning circle and size will make it a struggle generally speaking. Multi story car parks that are very tight can also be a problem as on the ramp between floors the turning circle sometimes cannot make it causing a reversal and then forward motion required with lots of wheel work! In countries like the US with lots of space parking it is likely much more of a enjoyable daily experience.

Indeed have tried the above and also covered the screen in RainX, perhaps made it a little better but certainly noisy in general. It was evident on the day of collecting the car.

Have an almost brand new ES300H registered just over one month past. Only done 450 miles and the wipers have been noisy as you described from day one sadly.

My opinion is that the ES is not suitable for driving on roads that are full of snow, it is so cumbersome and simply not configured for the job. I have been using another car since the snow has appeared and after testing the ES out on the local ungritted roads near the house had no confidence and simply returned it back home! Have been using a very old Ford Mondeo that is much better in the snow...

Still learning the features myself but if Bluetooth is switched on for the phone and configured to sync to the car it seems to automatically pick the profile up for me each time. Totally agree the noise insulation is excellent and the best I have had on a car to date.
-
Well done, like you say a shame you were put through the stress involved. The car is great and you will enjoy it. The limited turning circle can be fun though!
-
How are they getting them? Are they capturing the key signal? Also recent vehicles have the tracking function via the app, appreciate it is not an official tracker but should allow recovery

At home have a reasonable large double garage with two single doors and getting the car inside is interesting! It is a planned military operation taking great care and only inches to spare when closing. It involves a level of effort that makes widespread use not feasible. Anyone else had better luck?

Smooth, refined and can run at motorway speeds all day. Subjective of course but due to the weight and bulk of the car whilst handling is fine you cannot throw it in corners and it lacks feedback through the steering. The Ford Mondeo I had previously had older hydraulic power steering and had much more feel communicated from the steering and the confidence to chuck it in corners at somewhat spirited speeds and it handled it well. The ES is of course a superior car to the Mondeo but in my opinion does not handle as well, power is reasonable but at 0-60 coming at 9 seconds is not fast but the ES is so relaxing you just want to cruise

Can only comment on the experience of the local dealers Toyota and Lexus which are the same franchise operation. Whilst individual staff can make or break it of course; I find no difference in overall customer service between Lexus and Toyota. Of course this is all subjective but it is hard to tell which is the more premium experience based on direct interaction. If anything the Toyota arm of the franchise was a little more helpful with extended test drives etc

Certainly through dealing with Lexus I have overall been underwhelmed. The car is great but I personally thought dealing with Lexus directly and dealer would be better than what it turned out to be. The expectation was greater than the actual experience that was provided. Originally the finance rate was 3.9% I signed up for and they changed the rate to 4.9%. Was advised it can still be paid off anytime after the first payment with a charge of 56 days interest. Changing the rate to 8.9% is a massive change.
