  1. The corrosion problem was concluded with the dealer providing a written statement that it is normal and will not cause any problems with the vehicle. The corroded parts are of cast construction but do have a coat of black paint that is quite thin; the corrosion seems to be at various random places on the parts. It is simply cosmetically unsightly and does indicate poor manufacturing quality. Will simply treat the rust and paint with a good quality durable chassis paint.
  2. Indeed not upset by the experience as the expectations are very low. Certainly not happy and feel the level of experience has always been unacceptable with this dealer. Wanted to give a detailed report about what it is actually like to interface with this dealership and experience the 'premium' brand. Did take the wifes Fiesta in for a service last week and the treatment and overall service at the Ford dealer was ironically so much more professional.
  3. As reported in another post a 5 month old ES has had some corrosion on parts under the bonnet. This was taken to the dealer a few weeks past for 'assessment and inspection'. It was agreed I would not take a courtesy vehicle and simply wait and it would likely take one hour approx. Upon arriving at the dealership there was not a single free parking space. So attempted to park at the same franchise neighboring Toyota building. Upon grappling with the ES turning circle and successfully occupying a space the unexpected occured. A greeting from a member of staff stating 'cannot park here' we are having some refurbishing works done and the space is needed. Further advice was provided and it was 'leave it outside the Lexus building front door and they will have to deal with it'. At this point the already low experience of the franchise and wider Lexus UK name was sinking to new depths. Unfortunately there were vehicles parked outside of spaces namely Toyota Aygo and Yaris units and they were partially blocking the route to the Lexus main door. The ES managed to squeeze through with inches to spare, why are Toyota vehicles blocking an entrance to a Lexus building? Upon arriving a member of staff moved the vehicle to a little further back away from the door but thought nothing of it. It was after one hour before another member of staff arrived to take the vehicle to the workshop which is offsite down the road. As chance would have it was taking a phone call outside and witnessed the member of staff open the car door and touch a neighbouring vehicle with a clunk noise! When challenged the member of staff stated and I quote 'how do you expect me to get the vehicle out then'. Thankfully no damage was done and after complaining to the service representative the issue seems to have been brushed aside. In total a one hour inspection did take 2.75 hours and wasted almost half of a working day. Followed up with a complaint to the dealership but it seems to have not been taken very seriously so have reported the dealer to Lexus UK. In decades of running other makes and the ES being the first (and last) Lexus have never seen a vehicle being treated with such disrespect. This is not a financed vehicle but a 5 month old ES owned outright so an asset of a fairly significant value. In conclusion an abysmal failing on every front and it is a mystery how the dealership has some positive Google reviews. Astounded how Lexus Cambridge has satisfied customers if they are and their vehicles treated in this way. The dealership seems to lack basic levels of service never mind the additional expectations of a so called premium make.
  4. It is simply not right to have to fit physical devices to the wheel that over many hundreds of times using will eventually cause wear and tear to the steering wheel material. My opinion of Lexus UK is very low but they really should install a mitigating measure as appropriate to make this attack more difficult. A software update to support encryption or blanking plate to make it harder seem sensible. I have felt since ordering the ES that Lexus UK do not listen to customers and I expect they will do nothing.
  5. Absolutely ridiculous that in 2023 this is a problem. Like going back to the late 80s and early 90s.
  6. Comfort wise always felt the ES was excellent. The longer I am owning it though now feel the seats are a little hard. Now it is not a top of the range model but the Premium Edition so perhaps higher end models have more padding. The driver seat is now starting to feel a little too firm in the base.
  7. Had a formal response for the corrosion issues it is detailed below, make of it what you will: Corrosion around the cast mount fittings is quite normal – has been touched in with a small amount of paint to improve its appearance but won’t give us any problems in the long term.
  8. Appreciate that using a space saver is at reduced speed but is the feeling that the standard ES bolts would be fine and there is no safety issue? Did the GS450 use alloy bolts to secure the steel space saver?
  9. Looking to use a GS450 spare wheel, can I ask will alloy wheel nuts used on the ES secure the GS450 spacesaver on the hub? It appears the GS spare is a steel wheel.
  10. I can confirm sadly for the ES model only fronts are available. Very nice they are but there is no logic not to manufacture rears. Interestingly the rubber OEM Mats for the US market look to be a slightly different design, not sure why you would have differences.
  11. Surprised Lexus UK want customer feedback! Driven away a new vehicle three months past and not asked once for feedback or opinion.
  12. A short update to the corrosion issues. Called the dealer last week and was advised by the service function 'bring in the car a booked appointment is needed". Advised that it will take 20 mins to get there a further 20 mins to get back and disrupt the day working from home, additionally there will be no parking or if there is a small space which is extremely unlikely it will need a 10 point turn to get the ES in it! Agreed to send pictures of which no receipt was acknowledged that they were suitable. An email chase from me to check if there was any consideration if bolt on parts are covered has not had a reply! Not feeling the premium service from Lexus and I feel a non premium make dealer would probably have provided better service to this point. Will allow additional time and then further chase if still silent. In all honesty in my opinion the local Ford and Toyota (same franchise ironically) provide better customer service.
  13. My Mondeo had front OEM fitted did over 200k miles on them no problems with paint damage when inspecting every few years. Comes down to how flexible they are and the amount of contact with the body really. Lexus should offer OEM mud flaps for the ES
  14. Ironically only paid Camry money for it, 15.2% off the 2021 ES list price plus a little extra finance interest after settling it after 4 weeks, think the Camry was £900 less only from memory. Perhaps Lexus quality is not what it was. Have asked the dealer for comments on the corrosion to see if it fits their expectations of the quality and brand image.
  15. Have to say overall very happy with the ES and think it is reasonable value for money especially with the very large discounts on list price possible. Overall I feel the build quality is not quite as good as what I was expecting (this is the first Lexus). Car has done 600 miles and only been out in the rain twice and have noticed corrosion on bolt on parts that are not part of the bodywork and therefore not covered by the corrosion and anti perforation warranty commitments which specifically state it is the bodywork that contains such a warranty. Have noticed the following: 1, Rear towing eye a bolt on part has surface rust showing 2, OS engine mount has some surface rust a picture is provided Of course such parts would take hundreds of years to rust through but more care should be shown in my opinion for a so called premium make
  16. Think sadly it is farmed out to some insurer. Policy documents do Indicate repairs are done by Lexus repair network though.
  17. ES drivers do not have much time to post. Their hands are busy dealing with the vehicle turning circle!
  18. Congratulations it would be silly not to take up the offer if the payments are roughly the same or not too much of an increase. The 23MY vehicle has exceptional levels of sound proofing
  19. Ok fair point, bye bye then...
  20. It is for sure unusual for someone that does not own an ES to spend significant time researching the vehicle and then significant time posting how poor it is. Almost the sign of an unbalanced person you could argue. Maybe focus on researching and posting about superior vehicles...
  21. Best not to focus your energy on such a niche "one trick pony" of a vehicle. Saying it is such a niche car and of limited appeal you seem to have much time to spend communicating about the vehicle...
  22. Not sure about the NX feeling more solid, at the Lexus dealership the more senior members of staff get a selection of most of the range as company cars except LS and six figure costing cars. They all drive ES vehicles which speaks volumes. Before purchasing the ES looked at the NX and had a 45 minute test drive (a different use case of vehicle I know) also driven the Camry and Rav4 from Toyota. In terms of soundproofing the ES beats them all by a significant margin.
  23. ES is a great car overall, the sound proofing of the 23MY car is outstanding and likely just as good on previous model years. Have had mine on the ramps and inspected the quality underneath and it is incredible the sound proofing material used in the floorplan a great deal of effort has been undertaken to minimise noise. Handling lacks feel when pushed in the corners compared to some cars and does not inspire confidence however this is a big barge and not made for that. I do feel the handling could be improved though or at least allow for more feedback. Drivetrain very smooth but the brakes just before halting the vehicle seem to have a slight minor judder as they switch out of regenerative mode maybe? Lack of spare wheel as an option from the dealer is unacceptable in my view and could easily leave you stranded. As all other owners will know in time the safety systems can engage an emergency stop at times when it is a false positive. Turning circle can be a challenge and the car is not at home in tight spaces. Lexus UK is a disappointment, dealer is a disappointment the ordering experience of the car was a disappointment but the car is very good.
  24. Interesting that Lexus UK only want to hear from certain customers of new cars. It is a great way of ensuring that the feedback is generally positive...
  25. Cer Coming from very close if not the charger itself. The only way to validate would be to turn it off and test EMF?
