Seems to be certain batches only, my Nov 22 model is not impacted. Presumably different vendor DCM modules were used on the line.
-
Very good quality, dealers often throw in for free as part of the deal. Interestingly the OEM rubber ES mats offered in the US are a slightly different design

If it was me I would just order a new one with a healthy discount of at least 15% from the list price. Premium Edition makes sense unless there is a specific feature that warrants the extra cost. Lexus must make much less profit on Premium Edition vehicles compared to the markup on higher tier models.

Just consider new ES orders are coming through in around 3 months. I firmly believe the used car market and housing market will significantly correct over the next few years. It will be a very painful recession and I have structured my assets accordingly in preparation for this.

ES 300h wing mirror door attachment

There are some ES300H models being broken due to accidents, managed to find two on eBay. Acquiring the item from the breaker might be a much cheaper option? -
ES 300h wing mirror door attachment

Would not have much hope with Lexus UK providing assistance sadly. Almost all contact with them tends to be a fob off with dismissal of issues raised. -
Can you share a link to the wheel you purchased please? Can you also confirm if you tested fitting with the alloy wheel nuts supplied with the vehicle?

Lexus to unveil the all-new LBX

The super cool Prius Gen 5 would have been a better choice to adopt to Lexus standards -
The entire used car market has not made sense in the UK for a few years now. Used prices seem to be starting to decline in some US states. Only a matter of time until prices return to sensible levels in the UK. The debt bubble is starting to burst...
-
Is this not covered by the Relax warranty? If not have you requested goodwill directly from Lexus? Based on my poor experience with Lexus UK goodwill might not be offered but worth asking.

Lexus Cambridge was going to hand over a new ES in November last year with a quarter of fuel. Certainly not the norm in Cambridge for all customers sadly.

Do not understand why they did not add a mark on the dipstick for checking when cold. Too many variables is the engine warm or hot, has it all drained back? This A25 engine warms up very fast, all far too subjective the content in the owners manual for checking.
-
Running mine in carefully I noticed the oil go from max on the dipstick to slightly below max at around 500 miles approx, it did not need oil adding as still very close to max but it did move. Oil level has not moved since. On another note I actually find this A25 Dynamic Force engine a little noisy especially when cold compared to older Toyota\Lexus hybrid engines.

Maximum discount offered has been 15.2% over recent years which according to the dealer when I bought mine was leaving no margin except they get to add another sale to the list and work towards volume sale rewards. So based on the current £40k exactly list price for Premium Edition according to the website would be a discount of £6,080 and a sale price of: £33,920. At the end of the year a dealer might be tempted to take a small loss if the volume of sold vehicles offered greater rewards for them. So I take the best possible price at the moment £33,920. The prices mentioned above are good deals, ensure they throw in free rubber mats as well plus full tank of fuel!

On a short run of 10 miles or less tend to get late 40s and generally around 47 or 48mpg on a mixture of roads. On a longer run been seeing around 55mpg. Are other members getting similar figures?

Quite incredible that the office of Chris Hayes does not respond, shows distain for customers. Hardly the culture and aims that the Lexus brand was launched with all those years past...
-
Those that have emailed Chris Hayes has anyone got a response? My message had no acknowledgement of receipt and simply radio silence. Not a great way to deal with people that have invested significant sums in an asset made by the company. More "premium" service shown by the maker. Anyone had any form of response?

A shame but understandable, Lexus reputation is taking a serious downturn and it has taken them decades to get to where it was. Reputations are easy to lose but very hard to build up. Cannot help think if it is Lexus UK rather than the global Lexus brand that is the problem. It seems as if the UK element of the business simply has poor management and people not fit to hold the positions in my interaction with them.

You get used to the size but the reality is UK infrastructure is not accommodating for a car of this size with limited manoeuvrability. No matter how familiar you become with the size there are challenges with the infrastructure. Some challenges I have had are: Multi story car park at Gatwick cannot remember which terminal it was, the car simply cannot get around the up and down ramps without stopping engaging reverse and putting a full lock in the appropriate direction all whilst the car beeping away as if the end of the world is nigh. Picking a family member up from Heathrow T4 the kerbs are built out either side on entry to the short stay car park. The ES gets through with probably 3-4 inches either side a slight error and the repair cost could be 4 figures! Parking in York the kerb built out either side again and on a slight corner as well, inches to spare once more. Most parking spaces a significant amount of the car will stick out, Premium Edition has no camera at the front and have had some occasions where the sensors have not detected an obstacle so reverse parking is preferred. UK infrastructure or lack of it can be a challenge for this car sadly. Not trying to put you off but it can be an issue. Also parking in a busy supermarket at peak times is something you may want to avoid!

Outcomes in summary from the detailed article were. The systems were not designed explicitly with security in mind and not secure by default. Manufacturer not willing to engage in a proactive way at this time for resolution.

Reads as a deflection and offload strategy to the dealer network whilst adding some spin about praising their own current measures of which there is currently no productive outcome at the moment...

It was a YouTube video in that Stoplock was defeated quickly, it was a small electronic drill or similar device that was used against the lock. It did need some equipment but the lock was destroyed. Disklok kept a professional with tools at bay for more than 3 minutes. Will attempt to find the video. Not wishing to sound too negative but much of the motoring press earn from advertising revenue from the various manufacturers of such devices so may be constrained with what they are willing to print
-
Sorry to say Stoplock devices seem to be removable very quickly, locks picked in seconds etc. The Disklok seems the best at buying around 3 full minutes against a determined criminal and it needs quite substantial tools to remove. Would be keen to know if anyone has bought a Disklok and what size they acquired and additionally if it went on the ES steering wheel without issue.
-
Watch the many videos on YouTube for the steering lock theft tests. Many of them can be removed in seconds. The long standing Disklok seems to keep a professional at bay for more than 3 minutes and appears the strongest by far. Important get the right size model for the steering wheel though. So the best on the market realistically will only buy a matter of minutes but better than nothing. Lexus should immediately be issuing a statement on this with a plan to offer a solution.

An interesting observation is that the Lexus UK and dealer group both have flawed complaints processes with no escalation evidently possible. If you raise a complaint with the dealer group on the complaint form it requires selecting the dealer that the complaint is about. Which ever dealer you select simply receives the complaint with seemingly no escalation to head office! When you raise a complaint with Lexus UK which I did it also gets referred back to the dealer! So there appears to be no level of escalation and certainly not what I would call a robust tiered level complaints process. Again the expectations are very low from the dealer group and also Lexus UK so not entirely surprised.
