Being a cynic they would probably just purge and not pass the dissatisfaction to Chris Hayes ivory tower. Lexus UK have sat on this too long the word is out and damage to the reputation will be very hard to turn around now.
-
Depreciation for existing owners that have not had theirs stolen is going to be brutal. Word is out on these vehicles expect it to go the Range Rover way with values dropping off a cliff....
-
Sadly comments are moderated so only lame inane comments would probably make it through!
-
Indeed and advising people to fit steering locks due to the security design flaws for a premium vehicle is completely unacceptable. They either retro fit Canbus encryption via a recall to ALL vulnerable vehicles or fit a third party immobiliser. They have sat on this long enough with no action.

Difficult to predict specific dates due to the government distortions e.g. falsifying interest rates etc. certainly by the end of next year houses and cars will have taken a substantial hit. If you want to sell something large I would do it sooner rather than later as values will further decline. The larger aspect of the crash depends on government manipulation with respect to specific dates. What unfolds in the next few years will be certainly worse than 2008. I stand by the original statement that car and house prices will further have declined by the end of next year, the game is up for the debt obsessed UK economy.

Not a big player in the markets. Physical gold is my thing been buying since it was £170 an Oz and not sold any yet. Price now is just under £1,600 an Oz. There is a reasonable chance that economic armageddon is around the corner. The last two decade binge on cheap credit is over and it is not going to end well...

Have set a reminder in the schedule to reopen the thread one year from now. I believe my post will have aged quite well! The used car market is already collapsing in the US, strap in for a turbulent 2024....
-
Lets revisit this thread in November 2024, those heavy in physical metals in allocated storage will do well.....
-
Values of housing and cars are starting to collapse, this is just the very start of the economic downturn. 2024 is going to be like 2008!

It is all relative, to me that is a pain when I typically use the ES for 3 or 4 trips per day that is much inconvenience. Even on my weekend toy vehicle which is worth much more than the ES do not have to take such measures.
-
Key is not required to lock, only when unlocking.
-
Depends what you consider a pain, all relative of course. The procedure as I see it for the Disklok is: 1, open boot 2, remove Disklok from storage holder (unless people are happy to keep such a heavy item in the cabin?!) 3, close boot 4, place the official protective cover over the steering wheel to prevent lay marks and scuffing 5, align Disklok and secure Perhaps if you have a lot of free time and do little driving then it might not be a pain....
-
The Disklock covering the full wheel seems the only viable way to go, I have ordered one as a precaution. However fitting them is a real pain. Perhaps Lexus dealers can start stocking them and put them on the official vehicle accessory list....
-
To all other ES and wider Lexus owners I suggest you look at Range Rover depreciation over the last 12 months. This is largely due to thefts and hideous insurance quotes. If things continue in this way not only are Lexus UK by inaction putting your vehicle at risk but you will be facing substantial insurance increases plus expect depreciation to be no different than that suffered by Range Rover owners. Lexus UK need taking to task, how much are you prepared to put up with based on the mirage of what the brand used to represent?
-
However not all modern cars have easily accessible wiring and a Canbus network without encryption until MY23. Keyless is a known risk a Canbus without encryption is a design shortfall.
-
Very concerning indeed, professional thieves seeking specific targets. The word seems to be out that Lexus vehicles are an easy target.
-
Which lock was this?
-
Every single day this is not addressed by a recall is another knock to the reputation of the brand. As mentioned extensively a third party immobiliser or Canbus encryption upgrade seem essential. Shameful position by Lexus UK.
-
I would try another MOT station, one with half decent reviews. There is a certain amount of leniency with the results. A few years past my old Ford failed one of the tests marginally related to emissions. The station still allowed it to pass but said they could not give me the print off from the emissions machine!
-
As always inconsistent with Lexus UK, some customers are ignored, some receive templated waffle full of deflection and others receive a personal reply. Lets see if a recall occurs for ALL models without Canbus encryption.....
-
After taking delivery of a new ES last year I was not even asked for feedback once, seems very inconsistent....
-
This is perhaps the problem, when the Lexus brand was launched they did care. When did this change? Originally they said customers are guests and should have premium treatment. It seems they are not the same company and appear no different than any other vehicle maker. From interaction with Lexus UK and the dealer I have not been just underwhelmed but find it embarrassingly bad such as ignoring customers etc.
-
Seems a professional and determined criminal group sadly. Must have taken them at least a few minutes to remove the Stoplock and presumably use the Canbus method. A Disklock would buy more time perhaps as much as a full 5 minutes removing that alone. Drilling the Disklock would also likely generate quite some noise. It would not make sense to return to the Lexus brand considering this experience. Shame on Lexus for not protecting your asset adequately.

Thanks will go through the link, due its first service in a few weeks at the dealer so will raise with them if there is still any doubt about the function.

The speaker on the parcel shelf on the Premium Edition MY23 vehicle does not seem to work, is it inactive? Turning on the radio with full bass and it still is silent whilst all other speakers are on.
