Yes sorry forgot, looking a bit of a mess at the moment, days of hot dusty weather then we had a very brief little shower, looks as if it's been sprayed with mud. Hoping to give it a wash tonight when it's cooled down a bit, promise to post some pics then. Bill D.

Still finding things out on my UX, washing the car the other day I was cursing the poor design of the wipers that would not allow you to raise them out of the way as they hit the bonnet. Browsing my manual afterwards I came across the bit telliing me how to raise them part way up the screen so you could pull the out of the way. Need to get to grips with the phone system next. Incidentally we've all complained about people parking right next to you when there are loads of free spaces around. Only parked twice so far other than at home, one in Tesco, found a quiet spot only to come back and there was a car parked right alongside me leaving at least a dozen other spaces in that row. I always have a quick look round the car when that happens but found a scratch on the rear wing a couple of days later. You must have heard my teeth gnashing. Bill D.

Had my UX just a week now, had the usual tempory cover off Lexus and then swopped my Saga over from Kia Niro to Lexus UX, paid about £260 for Kia, extra £33 for Lexus. Forgot to mention dashcam so might go back and see if they offer any discount, this is through Saga. Always found manufacturers offer are silly prices (silly high) Bill D.

After a couple of days with my UX Takumi I am relieved to say tyre noise from my run flats is not a problem as far as I can tell at the moment. Bill D.

That's it, one beautiful UX Takumi Sonic Titanium sitting on my drive at long last. I had a Nextbase 380GW dash cam fitted as well, anyone got one and how does it work. Bill D.

Tomorrow 9.30 am, goodbye my trusty Niro, hello my new UX. Pleased with the weather, would have hated paddling back home down the M5. Bill D.

I have always thought that EVs will be short lived, at least in their present form. This is based on nothing more than than the fact that technology always advances and none more so than the current pace of technology developments and I wouldn't dismiss the ICE engine just yet. Bill D.

Finally picking my UX Takumi up on Saturday!!!!!!!!!! 7 months and a couple of days. Bill D.

Terry, the charging cable will obviously be a certain length as supplied with the car, don't know how possible it would be to make it longer but the downside is you would lose voltage, an electricity cable is just like a hose pipe, the longer it is the more pressure you lose, volts is the electrical equivalent of pressure in a fluid. Hi Andrew, just waiting for my my UX Takumi, ordered in January, now arrived at dealers so hoping to pick it up next week. Is yours Sonic Titanium? it looks stunning, that's what I have ordered with White Ash upholstery. Happy Lexus motoring, my first Lexus as well. Bill D.

Hi Robert, you can't rely on absolute accuracy of timing with the app., mine was about two weeks or more in the build stage before it changed to left the factory. When I got that notification my car was actually already on its way as I found out with a bit of detective work on shipping movements. I knew it was in the country before I had an update from Lexus. Pleased to say my UX is now at the dealers awaiting me to go and complete paperwork, holidays got in the way unfortunately but hope to have a lovely shiny new Lexus in the next week or so. Praying for a dry sunny day, hate picking up a new car when the weather is crap, the condition you see it in the showroom will be the last time you will see it like that anyway however much you cosset it but to get it home and see it looking like any scruffy old car is most distressing. Bill D.

App now reads car at dealers, route line on map was red from Portbury to Derby, black to Bristol, now all red. Just waiting call from dealers🤓 Bill D.

I think the idea is a good one for specific circumstances, ie tailgating where you have some idiot right up your backside at high speeds. Agreed probably wouldn't stop low speed shunts, or would it, depends how the system is controlled I suppose, it may only come into action above a certain speed, not read any more info at the moment. Apparently EU bringing out regulations for new cars, they must be fitted with smart technology to slow your car down if you get too close to the one in front, my current Niro has this but only when on cruise control so the tecnology already there on most cars these days I would gues. Bill. -

Read the other day that development under way whereby an electric car charged overnight on cheap rate can be used to put power back in the home or national grid during the day. Will the electric car become a multi use device much like the mobile phone became. The flaw I see though is that you would need to buy another car for travel because your electric one is cooking the dinner. 🤣 Sorry about the bang Rayaan, you must have felt sick at your new car being damaged. I shall be paranoid about mine when I pick it up and the thought of leaving it parked........... Bill D -
Nothing wrong with being an optimist Ian, keeps us going when the world seems against us. Oh and just found the answer to my question, Derby or Bristol, App just updated showing my car apparently on its way or at Derby. The map seems to indicate somewhere north of Burnaston which is the Toyota works of course and I assume where Lexus cars go to to have whatever they do with them up there. A bit mad though, Avonmouth to Derby, back to Bristol, about 260 mile round trip to get to where it needs to, 8 miles away! Bill D.
-
PS. How do you know your RX is due to ship soon Ian? Bill D
-
There must be something like that somewhere Ian but nothing I am aware of, my tracking of Virgo Leader was just luck really, when I had the message that my car had left the factory I checked various ships that were ro ro carriers bound for UK that were due to leave or had just left Nagoya, it appeared that I had the right one as just after in docked in Portbury I had a message from Lexus saying mu car was on its way to the dealer. That was a week ago today, nothing since. I should add that when I say bound for UK it doesn't actually tell you that, I went to Portbury website for arrivals and it showed Virgo Leader due to arrive about 5 weeks after leaving Nagoya, in the event it stopped off at Livorno on the way. Bill D.

Sounds like lame excuses to me Neville, first I have heard of such a problem, it certainly didn't affect mine or others on this site. Based on mine yours should be coming up 'Left Factory' by now. Thanks Darrell, haven't actually had call from dealers to go in and do paperwork yet so not far off end of month now. Plus of course the old question has it gone up to Derby first? Be mad if it has, Portbury docks to Bristol Lexus 9.3 miles away according to Google. Bill D.
-
Time line for my Takumi, ordered 6 Jan, building in progress 23 April, left factory 16 May, (think it actually left Nagoya 10 May) arrived UK 14 June. Hopefully picking it up early July (no point in missing out on a months road tax by having it this month) Bill D.

Just noticed your Kia posting, I have a Niro, my third Kia, Sportage twice before Niro, awaitng delivery of a Lexus UX. Kia is an excellent brand, just felt like a change and a more premium level, if I had the opportunity to have another Niro with a level of spec the same as my UX Takumi I might have been tempted. Bill D.
-
Just had my email, car is now on its way to dealers (via Derby? I know not) Looks like I was following the right ship after all, Virgo Leader which docked in Portbury on Tuesday. All geared up now to pick up in July. Bill D.
-
I think you will love the white, my Kia Niro is a metallic (pearlescent?) white and it looks great, sparkling in the sun at the moment. Bill D.
-
Sorry just noticed your previous posting showing route from Avonmouth to Derby, I did wonder if Derby was a stopping off point for customers in the North but you are obviously not. Bill D.
-
Looks great, are the seats White Ash?, that's what I am having in my Takumi, car looks really good in white I have to say although mine is Sonic Titanium, last three cars were white so thought it about time I had a change. Used to think white cars were a bit boring but with the advent of the metallic finish whites I think they really bring out the styling lines of the car that darker colours hide. Five months good going, mine's been six months and counting, supposed to be early July pick up, haven't heard officially what ship it is on but Virgo Leader is currently heading up towards the UK, due in Portbury tonight, it left Nagoya around the time I got the message that car has left factory so I'm hoping this is the one with my car on it. Do you know if yours went up to Derby from Portbury? Bill D.
