Very apt...... One of today's issues is the need to avoid angry people. There seems to be a lot of them about. Not just drivers but in supermarkets and on the streets. Such a shame that the world is going to hell in a handbasket. It might seem odd but we do not go out after dark nowadays, especially not driving, due to the preponderance of nutters.

I'll have whatever you are drinking.😊

Maybe your issue with Churchill is why they have been difficult with me and I have been dumped. They blamed the problems on their underwriters. I think they may have a problem with all Lexus cars, even the older ones that do not have the canbus vulnerability. They just threw away a good customer who drives carefully.

I gave Adrian Flux a try and nearly fell off my chair/ dropped my pie/ crushed the whippet. They even rang me up to see what I thought of the £1300 bargain price. Needless to say the reply was short. TBH they did successfully insure my bike at a reasonable price via bikesure insurance brokers. It is a bit of a pain to have to do this every year, but if you don't do it you will pay for the error of your ways.😴 FYI results: Isf -2012- uninsurable going SORN end of month. Is200 -2016 - insured £400ish with company I have never heard of but owned by a better known company that has awful reviews. I just hope that I never have to claim. Memo to self - set speed limiter to 20mph even on Motorways.

Got it. Thanks Lexus for backing me up.

Two hours of misery on the phone and the internet to get insurance. Churchill bumped up the price by about £250 despite no claims etc. 420old to 670new. A 60% increase🤬 Tried the usual comparison sites and saw an offer at £450 and thought " that will do". Halfway through the process I changed an incorrect date, from four years, ago by 14 days - a simple change to indicate an anniversary. The recalculation jumped up by £250 for what appeared to be an improvement or benefit. Just trying be be honest Guv! The site would not go back to the original price. It remembered me as a mug and it was out to rob me. I tried again from scratch and got quotes from £550 ( tesco ) to £1500 ( Abu Hassan and the forty thieves company ). I finally rang the company who jumped the price to ask why the price jumped. They re-submitted the details and got £650 again. I told them that I had other options at around £450 ( bluffer ) so thanks for trying and cheerio -- and all of a sudden the price came down to £450. BTW they ( Churchill ) flatly refused to insure my other car this year. Don't need or want my money. I must be a really bad person.🥲

Be aware that the insurance companies will want to steal £200 from you for modifying the car. It is unbelievable. There is a small plastic wind deflector on the boot of my car. I do not know if it was a factory option or extra from Lexus or the dealer. I asked the Lexus main dealer that I bought it from ( used vehicle ) and they say that they do not sell modified cars therefore, as I did not fit it, the car must be standard. Or is it??? I checked images on google and some cars have them and some do not. If I think and declare that it is a modification ( 2 inches of cosmetic plastic that affects nothing ) I pay £200 more for my insurance. So, I have declined to declare it as I honestly do not know who fitted it or where it came from - maybe a previous owner -but once you go into this area it is a can of worms. I have asked Lexus to Send me confirmation that the car I bought was completely standard as the confirmed on their records and over the phone - still waiting for the email.

My 1982 Audi 200T was a wonderfully luxurious classic looking, quick and dangerous car. The build quality was second to none. I think they have gone downhill since. I should have kept it but 15mpg and insurance costs dictated otherwise.

My father was a yorkshireman so I do not have to show my passport at Huddersfield at the new M62 checkpoint. He told me that the Scottish mothers put thistles in their childrens' pockets in order to teach them to be thrifty. However, in Yorkshire, I hear that their pockets are actually sewn up so that they cannot give any change. Here in sunny Lancashire we have very little money due to the high cost of breeding Whippets, not to mention the price of pies. Sorry to be such a xenophobe 👳♂️ -
Here's a left field approach. I had a clunky noise for two years and no-one could find the cause, checking all the bushes, suspension etc. I finally found that it was the boot lid catching the body over some bumps. Fixed. Have a look at the bonnet to make sure that it is not moving slightly as the body may flex a little ( I know that it should not but... ). In my case, with the boot lid, the bump stoppers were doing nothing.

I have come to the conclusion that there is no "thinking" by the insurance companies just statistics based on limited information. They will not reason with anyone. Unfortunately I am finally admitting defeat and the car is going SORN, at least over the winter. Tax at £695 did not help either. Main service due ( no faults ) but £700 plus. Finally Insurance at "God knows what". I do not want to sell it but the cost per mile at under 2000 miles per year is getting beyond a joke. The amazing thing is that the motorbike - a beast with 1868cc is only £200 per year Insurance. I am much more likely to get killed on that thing!🏍️🤠

My two pennyworth. It won't do any harm and would be a good idea if the car only does lots of low speed short journeys or has stood for a while. Carbon build up, condensation etc.☺️ How true. The number of neighbours that like to blast off in their cold cars. Plonkers. Some would say that modern oil and engines do not reed molycoddling and don't even suggest careful running in. Do not believe them. I know differently from experience. Look after your car and it will reward you with low maintenance costs.😇

The number of times I have had to restart the engine just to close the windows. I agree Aaaarggghh! What a pain. Why can't they leave the window controls active for 2 or 3 minutes after shutting down? -
We're not going to offer to renew your car insurance Churchill Insurance are refusing to renew the insurance for my ISF. I rang them to ask why. Person No 1 says don't know, passed to expert - Person No 2 says there are no notes on your policy and no reason, - passed to expert No 3. Rude lady with foreign accent cut me off during security questions again! Rang back - a nicer person says there are no reasons but our underwriters say no. It's the car, not you. I asked about CANBUS which does not apply to the ISF but underwriters say no - so, sorry about that Byeee. Thanks Churchill. It sounds a bit like chucking the baby out with the bathwater. They lost a good deal as the car only goes out during quiet sunny days and there aren't many of them in England!😕

Yes. They even destroy Morgans and Bentleys. Yes. Story of my life..... If you are going to put an electric motor in something don't spoil a classic. Put the motor in a dustbin or fridge or some other appropriate receptacle.
-
Just watched a programme on TV where they pull out the heart and soul out of a Lancia Fulvia and replace it with an electric motor. What a shame. All the character and "raison d’être " of the Lancia exterminated, to be replaced with a soulless propulsion unit. That's the problem. I think electric cars are for people that do not understand or appreciate what driving is all about. Put that in your pipe and smoke it chaps! Blue touch paper now lit.............

This is a funny version. I liked the original too. Richard Cheese does lots of gigs in LA and has a lot of spoof versions of hits.

I had the 2020 Volvo S60 T5. What a lovely impressive car and big and very comfortable inside too. I wanted the T8 or T6 but they were as rare as unobtanium when I was looking about 3 yrs ago. The T5 was fairly quick too, faster than the IS200t which has a similar engine config' but servicing was even more expensive than lexus. I think you would find the civic too small. The VW arteon is a revamped Passat and just a bit boring. The W12 engines are a financial nightmare. Even the VW V6 engines cost a fortune to maintain - Timing chain approx £4K+ according to some forum members .
-
Just keep the IS; super reliable, not as lumpy as the ES. Live a little and get an RCF if you want a bit of excitement. AND it is RWD and LSD and V8 and so on.........😂. Or go cheap and buy a quirky IS 200t ...now that is an interesting car. Don't let Linas read this!
-
I tried to find out if the IS models are vulnerable but got conflicting info. - Searches on the internet are always conflicting🙄 Does anyone know if the 2016/17 IS models or the 2011/13 Isf are affected? I have seen no reports of thefts but maybe nobody wants them or knows what they are? I have seen quite a few cars, all sorts of models, on the road with the passenger wheel arch trim damaged.

Looking back thro' the posts - and here's Wilko doing a great job with his mates.

Just had a listen WTF! I bet you were at Wigan Pier weren't you? 🫡 Now this is real heavy rock music .....
-
I used to like all that stuff but ended up liking Siegfrieid's Tod, and Lohengrin's dad - Parsifal and Bruckners 8th. But I still like Frank Zappa, Devo, Who and Yes and ......it goes on ...Motown, Led Zep, Stevie Winwood, even gerry rafferty!, david Bowie, Elton John's early stuff - like "where to now St Peter" etc etc.. Desert Island Disc = Wagner's Ring Cycle - Sorry about that, but it is so complex that it could keep you going for years. Today's music ain't music!! It's all boring old cr@p
