  1. Too pretty for a TVR and too sober for an aston martin. Nice car haven't a clue.
  2. I have had lots of different cars that have been overfilled by myself and by garages and despite the horror stories no problems. The biggest problem was when taking my BSA bantam to Charlie Robinson's garage for a service. They drained the gearbox oil but forgot to put any new oil in. After a week of running with no oil in the gearbox I took it back because it was getting so hot. They just topped it up and sent me on my way. Mind you, I was only 16 and did not have the confidence to cause a big fuss about it. The isF is still about a quarter of an inch over the dipstick max level but absolutely no problems to report. Runs like a dream as usual. I think if you really overfill the car it will probably blow it out but certainly not recommended. What the true tolerances are - I don't know.
  3. That was a bit tricky Magnus. So, here's one for the usual Lexus crowd. Guess what car this badge is from: Clue: It is not a Hillman Hunter Clue: the manufacturer's name starts with an F OR ends with a D. The owner's experience starts with a smile and ends in tears. Clue: They rusted away and the engines blew up Clue: The E stands for executive and it had the Cortina 1600 GT engine in it. DAMN I've given the game away!!!!
  4. No-one remember the eel pie island gigs? The marquee where you could never get in? Kingston upon thames tech college gigs - with Uriah heep, eric clapton, John Mayall etc etc. OK Just me then and my misguided youth.
  5. Yes it was great. We used to go to the Lyceum on a Friday night - an all-nighter, just off the Strand. I think it was 7/6p to get in and that included breakfast! Various flavours of smoking materials available on the way in at extra cost. Some great bands and the interest on and off stage was very indicative of the times ( to put it politely ). I really don't know how I survived it all?
  6. Exactly the same for my IsF
  7. I like Bob Dylan too especially this one. Not too well known. Nina Simone is great too. Very distinctive voice. I saw the musical "Hair" at the Shaftesbury theatre in London late 60's. Never forget it. I went for the music, the nude scenes were just for publicity. The actors joined the audience at the end in a big "sing-song".
  8. OMG What's the point of a motorcycle if you don't get the "buzz" from the engine character? Electric bikes YUK! The legislators have no idea of enjoying life. They just want us to sit in motorised boxes, pay tax and drop dead soon so as not to be a burden on the NHS and the new generation of taxpayers.
  9. When we had our car chipped the biggest difference was overall nicer smoother drive, better torque better mpg and just a bit quicker. Worth every penny of the £200 that it cost. 100bhp Peugeot Xsi no turbo.
  10. It will be interesting to see what you really get. I would not be surprised by only a 10% increase at the crank with a 15% loss from that at the rear wheels as is normal. The engine will also be a bit worn so not giving full power anyway. The overall effect is approx nil. Maybe that's why you did not notice much of an increase. I recommend go-faster stripes and ditch unnecessary weight
  11. From the rumours that I have heard Lexus cars do not benefit much from ECU or chip upgrades. Maybe someone can enlighten us. We nearly came a cropper when Churchill found out that we had a superchip installed after my wife had a little collision with a loose lorry tyre on the motorway. Luckily my answer was that the garage put it in when the Bosch chip failed and they did not tell me because the third party chip was half the price of the OEM. 🤞🤞🤓. Otherwise be careful!!
  12. I didn't know you could get Guinness in gallon bottles?
  13. Quite correct but you forgot to mention that they left their riders for dead in a ditch.
  14. The modern route to cheap motoring under a conservative government: Stolen car Cloned numberplates No Insurance No tax No MOT No servicing ( just go steal another ). No fines No petrol bills ( see cloned plate ) Just drive away. It seems the government and these rip off insurance companies may well be forcing more people down that dangerous route. Most of us honest mugs just pay up and whinge about it.
  15. Yes I was lucky enough to have a brand new Z900 in the 70's. The best of the lot was the FZR 1000 exup de-restricted and tuned by V&M racing of TT fame. Now that was fast. I did not like harleys and could not afford one anyway but in the last few years they have upped their game enormously and the quality is superb nowadays. Like nothing else to ride and so brutal in the power delivery. Great fun.☺️
  16. I just had to share this even though it's a bit risky. Harley Davidson has been going for over 100 yrs and are proud of their heritage. They have retained the original character created by William Harley and Arthur Davidson and maintained the engine origins - Vtwin. The models are commonly named after the valve cover style e.g. Knucklehead etc. I found this poster on the USA harley forum site and thought it might resonate even with us boring Lexus owners.
  17. Yes, they told me that there was a dead fly stuck to my windscreen and they could replace it at the next service. The fly, not the windscreen.
  18. Yes 12K from the rears is not out of the question. I had a warning from Lexus that my 9K old front tyres were looking a bit iffy. But the lexus dealer likes to sell replacements well before they are needed.
  19. Autocensor doing a good job I see ****. But it missed the last word.😏
  20. The moderator might see that you have a picture of **** there. Oh dammit He'll come for me now. Bugger!!! I'll probably get banned now Thanks Stephen.
  21. Maybe he went over a stinger whilst fleeing the scuffers at 150mph? Sometimes there is a good reason for MOT discrepancies. I had a garage get the mileage wrong through carelessness and it was impossible to correct. But it always pays to check these things out just in case there is foul play. NO! not that kind of fowl play!!
  22. I have realised that all the things that you like doing are not allowed anymore. Unfortunately I have to drink in moderation - that's a relative term - and limit the amount of red meat and a few other things. The resultant pain is a good way of keeping one healthy.
