  1. Just checked to make sure I got this right. One person said that the audio system packed in but he might have done something stupid - who knows... Any people out there who have successfully changed their battery with no problems? This guide looks at common problems preventing a Lexus from starting after replacing or disconnecting the battery. Symptoms Lexus won’t start after changing the battery. Lexus won’t start after disconnecting the battery. The security light comes on but won’t turn off. The engine won’t turn over. The alarm goes off when connecting the battery.
  2. Please let us know how you get on with the battery change. I hope it goes well. It would be good for others to have some confidence. As a confirmed registered chicken I would pay the insurance in having Lexus take the risk but then you're a better man than I am Bungdit In. Sorry I can't get that "Carry on" film scene out of my mind.
  3. I could never figure out how some new companies could go for years making losses and keep going. But that's why you hire accountants. I tried the same thing until her majesty's customs and excise turned up on the doorstep... Ouch!
  4. What was the book? Anyone got any suggestions? I think I saw it on ebay recently idle times: a poetry collection by K a Davis (Paperback, 2020) £11 ! Do you think I am made of money!!
  5. Not worth the risk on a dodgy Lexus. They bite. Let the dealer do it and take responsibility and pay his awful fee. Read the horror stories.
  6. it's just a battery it does nothing but give volts amps and watts, oh, and maybe a bit of heat while it is at it. There's nowt clever about a battery. I should know because there's nowt clever about me either. My wife told me so. First it has to fit in the space then it has to be a decent make and give as many amps as you can get. A battery only gives whatever is demanded from it. All that is from memory. I might be talking a load of bol sorry - rubbish.
  7. I prefer the isF sound. The other one sounds like a pig with wind. Just saying....🐖🍃🙃 OK . So here's a genuine Hayward Scott sound. I can vouch for it.
  8. That's good news. I was quoted an extra £200 just for a bit of plastic stuck to the boot lid. I must have been speaking to the wrong companies. I did get round the issue about the rear spoiler but I won't bore you with the long fiasco getting it sorted. Really sorry to hear about the personal issues. We lost our daughter too. It's a nightmare. Every sympathy from someone who knows what you are going through.
  9. I had a fully insured tracker system installed. I checked the insurance quotes with and without. The difference in price was £45. I did not bother renewing my tracker subs at £175. Spent the saving on something sensible £130 worth of beer.
  10. My understanding is that currently it is at the discretion of the MOT station. My isf with a Hayward Scott exhaust is a bit loud but the MOT people at the last 3 places ( including Lexus ) said - no problem it sounds lovely! They also said that a straight thro' pipe would get an advisory to change it. But...there is talk of legislation to add Decibel readings to determine a fail or not. We will see. Apparently they already have dB meters at roadsides somewhere or other but I do not know if a warning or a fine follows.
  11. Sorry about the facetious reply😝 I have found that any quality manufacturer will do. I currently have Bosch. One thing to check is the number of people that have had nasty issues after replacing the battery. Check the forum. For that reason I would pay the penalty and get Lexus to do it so that if they break something they have to fix it.
  12. The costs of owning a car like this have gone up a lot. Tax is actually £695 same as my IsF. Insurance the same if you are lucky. Major service the same plus a bit . That equals 2 grand a year, a bit less for an interim service. I am keeping mine. It has gone SORN for about 6 months to be reviewed in Spring. On the insurance point, the modifications will add a substantial penalty too. Keep it and enjoy it☺️
  13. I recommend one of them big black 12v things
  14. Was it playing the police CD Ghost in the machine?
  15. Well, we are all up the creek now that the one of the authors of the tory cutbacks is back in the seat - Lard Cameron. I more year of useless tory damage to everyone then a Labour government who will likely say that they cannot put it right quickly so it will take another 5 years of hardship. We are all doomed - DOOMED!😮
  16. Sorry Can't agree with that one. I actually worked for Apple and their mark-up to Apple UK was around 40% at the time. Then the dealers wanted 25%. They still are poor value for money. A new PC or Android will compete or beat Apple on most benchmarks. For quality and "usually" performance and VFM buy Dell. Some apple sales people used to say " Sell the sizzle not the sausage" But let's not go over the Apple vs PC argument all over again.🥵
  17. Hi Neil Really sympathetic to your experience. Good luck with the Hondas I am sure you will be very pleased with them. We had a civic VVTI a few years ago and it was a really good car. I am sure that you will not be the only one saying goodbye Lexus unless things change radically.🤮
  18. This is getting to be a serious issue if these reports of theft are indicative of the taste for Lexus by thieves. It seems to be a recent phenomenon even though other makes have similar vulnerabilities. Is it a rise in theft generally? More thieves? More feral types? Society poorer and more inclined to criminality? Whatever it is I think it's time to ditch my Lexus and go and live abroad and get a safer, less theft prone car. Hmmm Honda Civic type R sounds interesting. I will up my insurance cover and leave the car in the town centre for a couple of nights, that should see it gone in no time🥸
  19. I have mentioned this before but I cannot believe the shrugged shoulders response when I asked, in conversation, our local lexus garage what they thought about this and "had it affected sales yet?". Lexus are either oblivious or don't care. Let's see if they get interested when and if sales drop. I, for one, would certainly NOT be buying one of these models, Canbus temporary fix or not. I have not heard any bad reports about Honda vulnerability and they are a very good alternative regards reliability and performance.
  20. IMO my f sport 200t is a firm ride and does thud a bit over bad road surfaces. I do try to avoid potholes but it means that I am all over the road which may upset people behind me😉. If the fsport is a firm ride then my isf is absolutely rigid, and the suspension is in perfect condition. A real thump over ridges etc. I have heard probably mistakenly that sport mode changes things suspension wise??? but I have never noticed apart from the fact that sport mode hangs on to lower gears for longer and may sharpen up the throttle response. Both cars almost never go out of "normal" mode as they are quick enough anyway, even the 200t is nippy when it wants to be. It makes its own mind up on how quick it wants to take off relatively speaking.
  21. Anyone know what this is? I think it is Russian. I heard a rumour that it is Ford's replacement for the Fiesta?
  22. I had a 1cwt bag of cement in the front of my VW 1 ton van. With the engine at the back the front end was notorious for wandering on windy days
  23. A VW beetle like this one. It's just how I feel some days🤧
  24. Try kickdown - you know, past the pressure point on the gas pedal - at 60/65mph in 8th. Mine goes down to 2nd and takes off like a scalded cat with the usual fanfare from the engine. - Lovely!😮 Be careful you'll be doing over a "ton" in a very short time.
  25. Wrong! I told you it wasn't a Hillman Hunter. Go to the back of the class! It's a Hillman Revenger. Now you know.🥵
