  1. Absolutely right. They just don't get it do they? I have tried these new electric things and just don't want one. I am very happy with my old ISF - more then happy! My son got a new Skoda Octavia as a company car and we had a ride in it. What an underwhelming experience. Gets from A to B but don't want to go to B if the journey is so boring. I suppose it all depends if you are a car enthusiast who appreciates character.
  2. Here's an example of value nowadays: Curtain tie back from Amazon - £5 plus delivery £4.99 = £9.99. Local old established ironmongers in town centre - £1.95 that's it. There's a message in there somewhere.
  3. My "clunk" comes from the nearside rear of the car and absolutely no-one can find what is causing it. So it goes on, just a bit annoying but not a big issue after living with it for THREE years.🥴
  4. That is disgraceful behaviour. Just to see what the problem is. It just seems dishonest to charge all that money just to find out if and what the fault is. I remember going to the garage and they would take a look and then advise the next step - all free of charge and just wanting your business to fix the issue. I would be seriously looking for an alternative such as an experienced auto electrician and tell the Lexus garage to take a running jump. Sorry for your pain dealing with these people.
  5. Because it's just a better car and much nicer to drive than these electric dodgems.
  6. 6xFR =1k =I B. This shows astounding progress in reducing lithium needs Just 1K ( or one kebab in English ) = 1 x Technicolour yawn. Never mind the dubious FRs. Is it actually chicken or some kind of gloop mush re-constituted substance that McDonalds use?
  7. That's about £650,000 in petrol and nobody can afford that under this government.
  8. Its obligatoire to put tabasco sauce on Beans. Lots of it. De rigueur in fact. OMG I think I'm going to be - - yerrgh, ralph, huey, ben. Names of the four horses of the apocalypse you know.
  9. Rachel and Keir have just cancelled any of my holiday plans, although I might treat us to baked beans, with sausages as well for a consolation. Heinz of course, the Aldi beans are good but why do they put so much sugar in them YUK.
  10. Almost, I'm a dyed in the wool philistine with biker gang aspirations. (They would'nt have me 'cos I don't look 'ard enough for them.)
  11. All this palaver about batteries just confirms that I don't want one of these cars. The thought of revving the car in Drive with the foot on the brake sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, despite all the assurances. Not for me, too much faffing about, No thanks.
  12. Well said. My simple approach ( my wife keeps telling me that I am simple, so....) : Step 1 replace battery. Step 2 Does it work now? Step 3 If Yes, go for a cup of tea. Step 4 If No, chuck it in the bin and get another one. Works for me.
  13. Just FYI I think the tax in the budget has gone up to £760 if you pay annually. and I am currently averaging ( displayed on the dash ) 24.7mpg from the ISF, driving carefully with the occasional mad acceleration just for fun. One of the nice things about the ISF is that very few people know what it is so it rarely attracts any attention ( until you get past 3800rpm on full throttle - yippee! ). Most people think it's a wheezy hybrid with evil CVT gearing.
  14. Could be an excellent decision, but watch out for the road tax £800pa approx.
  15. Complicated innit? I just got to tesco and fill up with momentum.⛽
  16. Sorry, forgotten what you said but I am sure it was important. What day is it? BTW I don't think that contentment can be achieved, or is even desirable, it's in the human nature to keep wanting to do more. It's the way we were made; a bit like Bees and Ants habits. 🤐🤔🐝👷‍♀️
  17. Don't tell me, tell the Missus.😏
  18. I must admit I do like the ISF but RCFs are becoming reasonably priced so I would certainly consider buying one but not to replace the ISF, that's a keeper. AND the RCF tax can be cheaper too🙂!
  19. Just trying to qualify my comments about the original usually being the best. I bought a very expensive boxed set of classical music ( I dare not mention the composer ) many years ago. A new digitally enhanced upgrade came out. - It was not a patch on the original. Never play it, always the original Georg Solti version from the 60's. How do you improve on perfection? Or is that a silly question? They got it right first time with the ISF model range ( once they got the diff sorted ). The later models - RCF, GSF, are great and I would have one any day but the original has a certain cachet or quality that makes it special, or maybe just me being biased?
  20. Every 3 dB increase doubles the loudness. It's logarithmic.
