  1. Mine didn’t work but I had a magnetic shim in the back of my phone case for a mag mount. It works fine after taking it out. It’s quite a good one - fan cooled!
  2. Mine was set up so my name appeared in the middle of the dash when I got in but it seems to have dumped it since adding a wifi dashcam. Not really too bothered.
  3. Probably best registering on lexus techdoc. You can browse the entire manual for about 6 Euro and hour.
  4. It’s the same when the press test them - all of the German brands, all new and super. Wait until they get a bit of age about them and then ask the owners if they cause any problems and what it costs when they do. They out style lexus in many cases and they are good for the length of a pcp (sometimes) but being a mechanic by trade, give me just about anything japanese and it’s bland styling any day.
  5. I think anybody with mechanical knowledge or mechanical curiosity will naturally need to know what’s going on. I’ve watched most of John Kelly’s videos and they are in my opinion the most factual and thorough videos, I suspect Toyota staff watch them. Not keen on the phrase “it is what it is” but once you understand what the transmission is doing, it’s easier to forget about the engine revs and in any case, what would these smart*sed journalists do if they wanted a manual box car do if they wanted to accelerate hard? They’d drop it down a couple of gears and rev the nuts off it. So Matt Watson, get the stick of truth and stick it where the truth doesn’t matter if you’re going to quote nonsense. Does it matter if it revs under high acceleration? Does it matter if you can force the centre console to move? Does it matter if the manufacturer incudes design elements that mimic exhausts? These are the things that many of these journalists dwell on. I actually like Matt Watson but I wish he’d change the record on these things.
  6. For me, its not the car or the styling, an Audi is a flippin’ liability. I’d just be frightened of having it on the drive like a ticking bomb. I can pick holes in the Lexus but it will still be going strong in 10 years.
  7. Mine alerted me of doors left open and fuel at 100%. It did move around the dealership but the mileage was low on collection. My driving analytics shows me hard braking and when I looked at the map I knew it wasn’t particularly hard. Those Takumis have all sorts of sensors on them that need to be initialised - it will remember parking spots etc. Worth mentioning but it might not be as bad as you think.
  8. I wouldn’t worry. There’s nothing about it in the Toyota Techdoc website. My namesake would call it fake news.
  9. No, it’s a 350h premium pack plus but that dull woodgrain would be fine. I’m thinking of wallpapering them 🙄
  10. Strange one but I found logging in to my account on the Lexus website gave a slightly quicker update than the app.
  11. I set about installing the front and rear cameras today. An 129 off amazon. Iv’e fitted dozens of dashcams but I’ve never struggled like this one. Normally a car is full of gaps and holes you can thread wires through but this thing is tight as a drum. I bought a hardwire kit but where I was able to locate some feeds under the dash on the 300h, this 350h is nothing like so I used the accessory socket under the phone charger which I’ll never use anyway. Getting the wire concealed required quite a few bits removing...... To get at the back door I had to strip out the boot..... Getting through the left side umbilical was a nightmare..... Removing the A pillar trim is normal for Toyota cars. You have to squeeze the tabs to release it from the A Pillar..... ....then sub assemble it back into the trim..... I’ve removed the reg No but this is the front..... ....and the rear..... Hardly see it from the outside.....
  12. Try deleting the app and loading it again. I had the same trouble.
  13. All I specified was the pan roof so I don’t know if that’s why its white. The demo I drove didn’t have a pan roof or sunroof and it was black.
  14. To be fair, I’ve never seen a fuel cap holder quite like that one. Tried it today and it worked swell!
  15. Neither do I. If one says they don’t like the electric locks, they all do and they’re absolutely fine. How else are you going to include this bike and vehicle protection, you’d have to have some electrical mechanical de-couple device which would cost a fortune and be unreliable. Then they jump on the run flat bandwagon. I think they flick through a few reviews to see what other are writing before going to the trouble of making their own full assessment. This NX of mine with 20 inch wheels is super compliant over the bumps.
  16. Regarding ML, my last NX had it and I thought it sounded very good. I’ve not got it in this current NX and I’ve not had it long enough to form a complete opinion but I can’t imagine that side by side, a 17 speaker including a sub system isn’t going to sound richer than a 10 speaker without. It is a pity that it isn’t a stand alone option rather than restricting it to the Takumi.
  17. You have to take the engine revs for what they are. For the most part the car is virtually silent. A lot of these journalists are quoting a belt driven transmission but it isn’t, there is no belt. It’s a very cleverly controlled epicyclic gearbox that can choose to be high geared or if you ask for high power, the only way it can deliver it is to combine engine power with electric motor power and to feed juice to them it uses the motor as a generator. It spins up to make electricity while it also feeds power into the gearbox. If a standard auto kicks down it will rev. Just forget about it. I’ve not floored mine yet as it’s running in but I can tell it is going to go well so it probably won’t see a lot of high revs.
  18. A neighbour a few doors down has a UX and you can hear it plainly at my house but this new NX has turned out to be pleasantly quiet and gradually comes on at low speed. I literally can’t hear it with the windows up.
  19. It is also possible with the 350h. The app allows the individual seat heaters, the steering wheel, the front screen, the rear screen and the interior temperature to be set. I tested it on the steering wheel but it will apparently start if you demand interior heat or a high load so not tested that yet. I can also tell you that setting the seat heater and the steering wheel heater on auto works a treat. It varies the temps according to the interior heat setting. The steering wheel is fully heated on this NX unlike the previous version which was just the sides.
  20. Love that colour. I would have had that in a heartbeat but the mrs has that green car thing. Dead classy - love it.
  21. The HUD repeats the turn by turn instructions of the Apple Carplay in the screen. Of course when I picked the phone up to take picture it disappeared but honest it does.
