New (2023) UX250h encrypted CANBUS?
Don C replied to UX250HTAK's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
I raised the question of a protection plate with Lexus but they said it doesn’t apply to a UX. The trouble is, they respond via the dealer (who are very pleasant) but it doesn’t give you the opportunity to clarify the response. -
By the way, I absolutely wouldn’t recommend turning it off ever as these late models have nanoe-x facility which does add moisture to the air. Leaving it controls the environment and you’ll never have misted windows by leaving it on.

Am I misunderstanding this. I’ve got a 23 UX (22 black badge) and it has an off button. You press any other appropriate button to turn it back on???

Depends on the model but every other Takumi has heated rear seats. I find the outer mirrors ok but the right one dims and the left one is just tinted. It’s mostly ok but now and again there’s a car up the left. I’ve had a welding flash from the screen but it seems to shut down ok from CarPlay.

For me, changing the tyres wasn’t because I dislike runflats, it’s because I need all season tyres for Peak District winters. They’ve made the difference between me getting home or abandoning ship like so many others. Of course, I’ve been lucky so far they haven’t completely blocked the road and I’ve got through.

I don’t play golf but I leave the boot deck in the lower position which is fine for me and the mrs. I’ll take a photo when I get chance.

The software on your car might not support it.

More time in the dealer than on the road
Don C replied to stevewagster's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
I’ve always said you don’t need to sell a washer if your service is good, just do what you say you’ll do and phone when you say you will. However, they all want the same thing, even Barry - your money, it’s just that some come across better than other. You’ve done exactly the same as a few others and made a sweeping statement that Lexus don’t care when it’s just a few of the people in a few of their dealers. I’ve had three Lexus, the second was returned after a month because of a dispute over the specification v the actual delivered product and the dealer not coming up with a suitable resolution. Lexus launched an investigation into it but as a result I bought this UX elsewhere. The dealer and the sale went very smoothly but I’m not naive, they want me back in 2 or 3 years and so do Lexus. I was a manager of a lot of train drivers and experience taught me to never take anything at face value. Gather all of the information and put it together before coming to a conclusion because there’s always two sides in any story and that applies more than anywhere when it comes to social media. It can be a super place to exchange information or just have a chat with like minded people. When there comes a dispute, I then drop into investigation mode. I spent 29 years in the motor industry right up to being European Technical Sales Manager for original equipment sales and since leaving there and going to the railway, dealing with the most fickle component of all - people. We can make some conclusions in any argument on this forum. First, the Japanese are the masters of mass production no matter if it’s TVs, cameras or cars, nobody can beat them as long as the product is built by a Japanese person (they think differently than other nationalities). Lexus take it up a notch and there’s a high probability that your car and my car left the factory in the same condition as the op car. If one is claimed faulty I suspect two things, the car has been tampered with (accessories fitted) or the user doesn’t understand it. That’s just probability, nothing else. The next comes down to the account because then the human aspect comes into it and that’s where the down side comes in because then personalities come into it and for that you need both sides of the story. Your experience isn’t the same as my experience so I don’t consider Lexus cheats or crooks and I certainly don’t suspect poor workmanship. There’s a reason this story doesn’t stack up but we need more information. -
More time in the dealer than on the road

What I was getting at Nick is that even if they view the forums they have both a social media policy and a simple professional matter of principle that prevents them engaging a dispute where there is a very good chance it will develop into a brawl. So in every case, even if they are clearly right, they have to push back and it isn’t fair. If they are guilty they will keep quiet but a disgruntled customer that cannot or will not understand is free to say what they like. -
It’s a veritable pita but it’s the way things are going. I think the newer generation consider a smartphone as a part of the car.

I don’t take sides in such matters without knowing the facts so assuming the dealer is accountable isn’t something I subscribe to. I don’t assume they’re not either but I detest the blame culture. The forum is littered with owners accounts of dealers when things don’t go as they want. I’ve never seen a single response from a dealer. -

The op hasn’t identified the dealer to my knowledge, I never said he did. Are you asking me why the battery might be flat? Quite easily in the hands of someone who isn’t used to Hybrids. Delivery drivers leave the ignition on to avoid the alarm sounding and that could explain a lot. I don’t know about the superguard. For a start, I’ve never heard of it costing so much but without talking to the dealer to get their side it’s impossible to comment. Was there a misunderstanding about being done, I don’t know but I’m not prepared to lambast them or accuse them of being incompetent without hearing what they say. They might tell a completely different story. -

And another thing. I think if you’ve got a good mate that works for Lexus, there is a big risk in asking him to get involved with a dispute between a dealer and a customer. I would suggest very strongly he stays out of it and that’s not derogatory against Steve but only to protect the employee. You’ve identified him on social media. If I was a “master technician” I’d just say take it in and let them look. -
Mine’s green all the time and yellow if it needs to charge. I never use it because I wire mine for better sound from Apple Music. The wife used it while mine was connected and it seemed to work fine. Are you sure. I thought Tech Tip Tuesday Mellissa said you can keep storing indefinitely if you just keep adding station it will move to another page of six. My memory might not be brilliant these days.

Quitting is illegal but as there are only 11 cops in the whole of the U.K., the chances of getting nicked are fairly slim when the 11 cops are busy separating chavs then defending themselves in court for doing so. You have to accept the feature for what it is. You have to use your phone and if it needs to start to generate heat or cold, it will. I use mine in a car park in Manchester and if somebody sees or hears it, they can’t nick it any easier than if it isn’t running. You might need to reconsider John. If they want your Lexus they’ll take it at knifepoint and if that happens let them have it. Don’t rely on the 11 cops to get it back because another 2 will have just been sacked for doing their job so get gap insurance and bother none.

Beats me how somebody on the internet finds something to be upset about and the whole of social media weighs in. There is no damp in any wiring on any Lexus that hasn’t been tampered with. That’s any lexus anywhere on the planet. The radio glitchy, yes maybe, I don’t think anybody has got these new systems right including all the precious German brands. Smell of burning? I’ve done two longish trips and it has produced a slightly scorched smell on each trip. I’m familiar with such a smell, it’s the gasoline particulate filter doing a regen. Now for this ridiculing the dealer. I’m the founder of the Mazda CX-5 and the Mazda CX-30 owners clubs on Facebook with thousands of members and I will not allow it because it is grossly unfair when they cannot respond. These matters become personal and you’ll always get the occasional owners with any brand who aren’t happy and once they’ve made a rod for their back they’ll never back down. Furthermore, nobody has inspected this car to make a judgement except the dealer who has got nothing to gain from telling the owner they can’t find anything. They want that customer back in three years so the last thing they’ll do is p iss them off. I’ve not looked at this car but my feeling is that it was delivered with a flat 12v battery and that will cause a whole world of problems including those described. Smell, yes. Radio, yes and the rest is explainable. It spent more time at the dealer because the owner took it there. -
With you now. No, that’s how they are and you can’t wire it up to do so because the lights are controlled by body control modules. If it would help to find it in say a big car park, you can set the hazard lights from your phone.
-
They’ve taken it off the latest version (with black badges). I don’t believe they’re cheaping out on this, I suspect it isn’t compatible with the safety systems. It’s an old wired system rather than the newer rigid antenna.
-
Uh oh, another Don! Do you mean the puddle lights or the interior lights. You can definitely do the latter.
-
-
Yes, I believe so Charles. My neighbour had a 21 reg UX and you could turn that off permanently. when I say retro, the rest of the range is going more streamlined but the UX is still quite angular (not to be confused with Anglia!). The interior too with the knobs and dials. My mate reckons it reminds him of a leather armchair and a high end Technics stereo! I had an NX which I loved. The two things I struggled with were the track pad and over bolstered seats.
-
The jury is out on the wheels as I tend to favour many spokes but one thing in favour of the five spoke wheels is how easy they are to clean. I mostly love the UX but apart from the lane keep defaulting to on, there is one other thing that really sucks - in fact I’d go as far as saying it is rubbish and that is the auto wipers. Denso have never got it right and on the current system you can’t even trick it into being intermittent. Needs sorting Lexus, it just isn’t good enough.
