  1. Surely just ask for a full tank, they can only say no....
  2. I seem to remember there were government grants for LPG conversion around 20-years ago, but LPG seems to have been killed with the push for diesel and now the push to electric.
  3. Maybe because the voltage will be higher and a higher current will available.
  4. Surely you would want to remain as a Hybrid as that would improve running costs even more.
  5. On modern cars often access to the spark plugs requires quite a bit of disassembly, but yes a good source of income as well.
  6. So a current RX new is around £60k, no doubt a 2006 version was a similar price in real terms with adjustment for inflation, so a premium priced luxury vehicle which will have associated maintenance costs. So at 16-years old clearly price will be much lower, and you may end up with a bargain, equally you may end up with just a money-pit. I think buying a 16-year old car is a different experience to keeping and running a car for 16-years. Bear in mind the average life of a car in the UK is around 13/14 years, typically they have not rusted away or have major mechanical faults, but just not economic to repair in rip off Britain.
  7. As with any 16-year old car condition and history are essential, this one certainly sounds past it's prime. Pulling to one side may be due to tyre pressure but more likely wear of steering / suspension components. I'd suggest you pass on this one.
  8. Yes disappointing, but I doubt any other mainstream manufacturer will offer a better experience, plenty of horror stories on forums, do you have any in mind?
  9. If they don't have insurance they would not be a reputable company. No doubt you can also insure a vehicle for damage & theft only, there must be loads of SORN vehicles some of which will be pretty valuable.
  10. Surely the garage doing the restoration could drive it on trade plates to the MOT centre.
  11. If they find something wrong you may end up paying top dollar for Lexus parts and labour charges, an independent will give you more options around parts etc.
  12. What I don't get is this scenario.... A motorway service station that has rip off fuel prices is normally pretty busy, so let's say the average time to refuel is about 5-10mins from the time you stop to the time you drive off. Even with the fastest chargers the average stopping time is going to be much longer, plus most electric cars have a shorter range than an ICE (typically 200 miles vs 400 miles) so surely there will need to be acres of charging space, not to mention the electrical engineering required to deliver all that power...
  13. Normally you would want to replace the filter as well which would require taking the sump off (or whatever it's called on a gearbox).
  14. Have you had an MOT if so was this a fail or advisory? - if neither I would ignore. Also MOT advisories seem quite random, I have had wheel bearings with slight play advised so was expecting to replace them the following year, but somehow they miraculously fixed themselves.
  15. Would be interested in how you would compare the F Sport to the RC?
  16. I don't believe so, although there is an extended warranty option for vehicles which are > 10-years / 100,000 miles.
  17. Well that's very subjective but certainly steering and suspension are engineered to be more of a drivers car, but there is no F Sport RXL.
  18. Certainly not best practice, not sure on a hybrid but certainly on a conventional automatic would be putting stress on the locking pawl.
  19. There will also be differences between RX models, so not just a question of facelift vs original - at lease 6 different variants: Base models have conventional suspension F Sport has sports steering and sports Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) also optional active stabilisers Premier / Takumi have AVS I would expect RXL to have a different suspension set-up due to larger size and weight available with AVS (Premier / Takumi) or without AVS
  20. I used to have a Chrysler 300C and a faulty TPMS sensor (usually flat battery) was know to cause all kinds of weird fault codes.
  21. Mine still has factory originals which are Dunlop SP SportMaxx.
  22. Yes seems limited choice in this size, I too would like to see Michelin Cross Climates available.
  23. I think missing out on Lexus Relax would be a false economy, but it's your car and your choice as to how you spend your money.
  24. You can check the factory build spec from here https://www.lexus-tech.eu/default.aspx Under Repair, Vehicle Specifications and enter the VIN, you will need to set up an account first.
  25. I suggest you check some of the price comparison websites, that will give you a much better idea than what someone else pays. But I think in general prices are on the increase, possibly due to the new rule around new customers not getting a better deal.
