  1. My Gen 4 was there friday morning, looks like you missed it 😉 The RX's are usually outnumbered by Range Rovers and X5's though.
  2. It's best practice to disconnect the negative first and reconnect last. That way if your spanner accidently touches the bodywork whilst working on the +ve you won't get a short. You may also find some things need resetting eg clock, radio settings etc depending on the vehicle.
  3. You can test for this by the following: Engine off Pump brake pedal a few times to clear any remaining vacuum assistance If no air pedal should now be firm If pedal is still spongey you most likely have air in the system
  4. They also tend to employ cheap (and sometimes illegal) labour, do they have liability insurance? So I think either go to a reputable car valeter or do it yourself.
  5. I've only ever had the 4th Gen but it seems likely to be the last RX with a V6, £5k over 10-years is not a lot in the grand scheme of things.
  6. I think around £300 a bumper is fair, I'd suggest looking for a local company that does work for the major dealers in the area. I paid that for a non-Lexus but large bumper recently which included repairing a crack.
  7. Yes fully agree, I can only assume Lexus / Toyota is not prepared to pay for the license. Car manufacturer's don't generally make their own windscreens anyway, so I am sure could be easily adopted by the supplier who must be making them for other manufacturers.
  8. How about saving the life of a passenger in the event of an accident who is not wearing their seatbelt? Ok maybe unlikely, but given millions of passenger journeys around the world it will happen to someone at some point.
  9. Do you have the seat already set to fully retracted?
  10. Does Lexus have a special projects division for bullet proof cars etc like some manufacturers?
  11. I do think this will become a regular problem with cars that seem to have a large tablet bolted to the dashboard in a very prominent position. Whenever my son gets in the car his mobile usually comes flying out of his pocket like a missile with a great crash.
  12. Or use the switch to disable the passenger operated switches, that's what I do on my RX.
  13. So certainly could be the thermostat, but could also be other causes too, blocked radiator, water pump, head gasket etc.
  14. I'd suggest looking for a good independent, Halfords are ok for your car cleaning products but that's about it....
  15. You can get higher spec bulbs of the correct wattage that are fully road legal. https://www.amazon.co.uk/generation-brightness-headlamp-64210NL-HCB-passenger/dp/B07FXRDJV7/ref=asc_df_B07FXRDJV7/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310764720204&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9162887651927945787&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006826&hvtargid=pla-592557309357&th=1
  16. On my Gen 4 RX that is exactly how the battery will look if the car is just in Accessory mode.
  17. That means they are working ok electrically, but they can get clogged just like your shower head. Another thought is that your fuel pressure is too low, electronic fuel injection works on the principle of constant fuel pressure and the ECU works out how long the injectors should be open to control the amount of fuel, so if fuel pressure is low the mixture will be lean.
  18. Is there a fuel filter, could that be blocked? or maybe your injectors are partially blocked?
  19. That's where the market demand is, the XJ was a very rare sight on UK roads and I believe the F-Pace is the best selling vehicle in Jaguar's history. I was seriously considering an F-Pace but went for an RX instead mainly due to concerns over JLR reliability, I do prefer the looks of the F-Pace though.
  20. Received an email from my local Lexus dealer.... Want to take a closer look at the compact luxury of the Lexus RX F SPORT? Why not book a test drive today and discover the impressive features for yourself. This must be a new model I was not aware of, I do indeed have the current RX F Sport and it's a great car, but compact is not the immediate adjective that comes to mind. Is this a new model like the ill fated BMW 3-series compact?
  21. Engine oil will get contaminated with combustion products, there is no combustion in the gearbox, hence it has a much longer life.
  22. No, what I am saying is to achieve your 70% charge you will actually have to put more energy in, the wasted energy during charging becomes heat. So if charging efficiency is 80% you would need to divide the cost figure from your formulae by 0.8.
