  1. Yes but think of the acres of space and infrastructure that will be required. Back of the envelope calculations: BEV typical range 200 miles vs 400 miles for an ICE Typical refuel for an ICE 5-mins, assume 30-mins for BEV So typical motorway service station will need to accommodate 12 times as many vehicles simultaneously
  2. I suspect if it was a common problem the dealer would know how to fix it instead of giving you the run around...
  3. A simple voltage reading is not sufficient confirmation that the battery is ok, do you have a charger or booster pack you can try.
  4. They forgot the traction control at 4'15", otherwise a pretty accurate prediction.
  5. Yes modern cars are much safer by design, but key basic safety checks are still highly relevant ie brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, structural integrity etc.
  6. I think it's nuts, same goes for the 40-year rule for historic vehicles. The cost of an MOT is negligible in the overall costs of running a vehicle, and if you are that strapped for cash many independents offer free or reduced MOT with a service anyway. Only problem being those with little funds will also skip the service, buying new tyres etc.
  7. If you read all the reviews webuyanycar will beat you down on price at the inspection. I sold a 13-year old car to Cazoo, instant payment at the price quoted and very painless experience.
  8. 200,000 miles at 99.9 mpg - who needs an electric car 😉
  9. For me the Rover SD1 Jam Sandwich. A couple of the more unusual ones (but before my time): Daimler Dart SP250 or Sunbeam Tiger.
  10. Yes I agree that's how it should work. Have you been using it at all as lack of use can cause problems with seals drying out etc?
  11. The worst stretch of roadworks has to be the M4 that they are turning in to a death trap aka Smart Motorway.
  12. I'd suggest avoiding Halfords, fitting a car battery is usually no harder than putting new batteries in your torch.
  13. Sorry but that is not correct, the speed limit is the speed limit. The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) have provided guidance of enforcement at 10% + 2mph, but that is only guidance and different forces may or may not follow this guidance.
  14. Yes same thing, but it's only a guess.
  15. If the engine is burning oil then this may cause problems with the cat and lambda sensors. I think the first step is to establish exactly how much oil is being consumed.
  16. Hard to say but does not look too serious, does it leave a puddle on the drive? Possibly the rocker cover gasket, that's quite a common cause of oil leaks.
  17. Personally speaking owning a fully autonomous vehicle has zero attraction to me.
  18. Probably more a question of want than need. Personally I always go for the top of the range with all the options, but then I buy used where the difference in price is less of a factor.
  19. And also the dealer experience and after sales service which Lexus scores highly on.
  20. That's a great colour combination, enjoy your new Lexus.
  21. How do you know it's a faulty sensor and not actually due to the engine knocking?
  22. Rightly or wrongly Tesla has become the 'Hoover' of electric vehicles and this has made Elon Musk the richest man in the world. I think electric vehicles have their place, ideal for short range urban driving; but the rush towards full electrification to save the planet is a gross over simplification.
