  1. There are some silly ones like a standard number plate with BMW, yeah I know it's a BMW it's got badges on. I used to see a car most days travelling to work that was a BMW with a GMW plate, pretty certain the sad owner got that as it was cheaper.
  2. The obvious thought would be is there a leak eg loose hose etc, but normally that would be obvious just from a strong petrol smell. Maybe the fuel tank level sensor was not correctly installed, so your half tank may not actually be a half tank?
  3. I've only once had a damaged tyre that could not be repaired at low cost.
  4. First rule would be don't keep anything on display in the vehicle at all, not even a carrier bag of rubbish. If the car has a smart key keep it in a Faraday cage. Although the SC430 is a fine car I doubt it's top of the list for professional thieves, it's the average opportunist thief that is the most likely risk.
  5. I think that is best practice for any car, harsh braking should be reserved for: Motorsports Unpredictable emergency, such as a pedestrian steps out in front of you Need to improve your driving skills
  6. The brake pedal is quite firm compared to some cars which have over-powered servos, but no problem with stopping distances.
  7. Because the maintenance costs (at least in Europe) for a relatively minor issue are just way over the top. I do agree that in many ways the most environmental solution would be to maintain the existing fleet of vehicles rather than the head long dash to BEVs, but that is not what the car manufacturers and politicians want so it won't happen.
  8. Personally I never use it. Whilst I am ok using Cruise Control on long journeys as a driver aid I think a steering aid is a step too far. If you can't steer a car and maintain correct lane position I don't think you should be driving a car.
  9. I think you are getting opinions not answers, only you can answer your questions.
  10. Thanks for posting, with that colour scheme looks like it's powered by Duracell 😉 Don't like the steering yoke.
  11. I disagree, I have options such as Panoramic Sunroof, ML Sound System, Head Up Display, Blind Spot Monitor etc. All of these require additional physical components and manufacturing costs, albeit the person with the base model will have helped fund the R&D and may have some of the underlying infrastructure such as common wiring loom etc for these extras.
  12. There are various products which claim to remove dye from leather, but I think you may end up doing more harm than good unless it's a very obvious mark. Even if you can remove it completely are you going to change your attire for driving, if not it will be an ongoing problem.
  13. With respect you have already asked this and had several positive responses. You can look up the 0-60 time and top speed (which I believe is limited) on any review site, anything else is just someone's subjective opinion and is clearly likely to be biased on a Lexus forum. I can understand your hesitancy in making a big financial commitment and wanting to make the right decision, only way you can be certain if it's the right car for you is by a further test drive with the use cases you describe, rather than asking the opinions of strangers.
  14. Lovely car looks like new and Takumi as well, I dread to think what the cost per mile in depreciation was for the previous owner.
  15. The Gov MOT website will give you the exact date of registration along with current and historical MOT data and also whether there are any outstanding recalls. https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history
  16. Most cars do eventually seem to rise in value eg cars that I have owned previously Vauxhall Cavalier Mk 1, VW Golf GTi Mk 2, both now worth way more than what I sold them for.
  17. It's 10-years / 100k max for the Relax warranty scheme but there is supposedly an extended warranty scheme as well (but details are sparse), they may require the car has a Lexus service as a pre-requisite.
  18. I suspect certain cars will become investments as we approach the 2030 deadline for ICE sales, for those petrol heads who want the sound and feel of a large petrol engine eg Bentley Continental W12, Mustang V8, Jaguar F-Type, BMW M-Series, Mercedes AMG and Lexus LC500. I think diesel cars will be confined to history, where they belong.
  19. I would disagree, it's not a tarmac eating sports car but performance is more than adequate with plenty of power available when needed.
