I think you actually get more grip in fresh deep snow than the few inches we typically get which then turns to slush and subsequently freezes.
I also find rear wheel drive is much worse in snow than front wheel drive.
I'd suggest just putting in for an MOT and see what needs doing first.
I would doubt it's terminal, worst case would be some repair work and welding I would have thought.
I think that's a good colour option, low mileage, probably about the right price, but check which options it has.
I got lucky with mine as it was just listed as a base model, but I could tell from the pictures it had the Premier pack.
The Premier is the fully loaded top of the range model.
The F Sport was available with a number of options, for example I have the Premier pack which pretty much matches the Premier spec.
There is a sticky thread on the Gen 4 Specs.
Historically we drive on the left so your right hand is able to reach for your sword if attacked by an oncoming aggressor.
I think the only country that has ever changed which side they drive on is Sweden.
I had a similar experience years ago when I collided with a deer, bodywork was repaired but the insurance company claimed the mechanical damage was entirely coincidental and not related to the accident.
I think your best course of action would be to get some legal support and push for your insurance company to write the vehicle off, given the estimated repair cost.
Looking at the Honest John website the Rav 4 is significantly better fuel consumption wise.

I suspect the 5th Gen RX will be closer to the latest Rav 4.
Check your tyre pressures and maybe inflate them a little bit higher.
Check you have no brake binding issues - a simple test is to feel the wheels after a reasonable length drive, fronts should be warmish but not hot, the rears barely warm at all.
That's contrary to what others have reported, where you should get a full 12-months if you are under 10-years/100k when the service is undertaken.
After my last service I got a confirmation email, maybe that will clarify.
I still think that's very poor, it's either got heated seats or it hasn't.
When buying a used vehicle I always look for the top of the range model with all the options, as often these can be very expensive when new, but add only minimal value to used prices.
I think the only one of these that may fix the rough idle would be the intake manifold gasket if there is a vacuum leak, has your mechanic confirmed this? A properly equipped garage would have a smoke machine for testing this.
I don't see any point in forking out for brand new calipers until the engine issue is resolved.
Yes it's a luxury car so running costs will be towards the higher end, plus you need to consider the total cost of ownership not just fuel. If you do low to average miles fuel is not your biggest cost anyway, particularly for an older vehicle which is likely to require more repairs & maintenance.
The government can kill off ICE cars whenever they want, just raise Road Tax and Fuel Tax to unacceptable levels, no need for new laws or outright bans.
