  1. My renewal with LV went up a large amount too, I counteracted the increase by reducing the estimated mileage and increasing the voluntary excess. Yes there were cheaper options on the comparison websites, but all companies I had never heard of or via brokers etc.
  2. I'd suggest try squirting with electrical contact cleaner first before any disassembly.
  3. Yes all modern cars have a CAN bus, the specific vulnerability is likely due to ease of access to the electrical wiring and the supported functionality of the CAN bus when the vehicle is locked and secured.
  4. I don't agree, a bit like buying a car with 3 wheels and it's an extra £1k for a fourth wheel. I get no car can be made 100% theft proof, but this would appear to be a major design defect.
  5. I think a class law action would be the best step, they would just laugh off any individual claim.
  6. I was going to say being a Lexus it was probably still going strong, but last MOT was in Sep '17 at 72k.
  7. So you should automatically qualify for the Relax warranty at no cost if you are <100k miles, but if they find any issues during the service they would not be covered.
  8. One thing for sure is you don't see many (any?) Lexus Police vehicles.
  9. Even the cases that do go to court and result in a guilty verdict the sentence is usually a joke.
  10. Nope, mine never needs topping up, I suspect there must be a small leak somewhere, maybe a hose clamp or something similar.
  11. Some of the YouTube compilations from Dashcams are pretty horrendous.
  12. £920 is the additional price for an optional paint finish, the actual extra cost of this is only known by Lexus. But pretty much all manufacturer's adopt this model and virtually all reviews say metallic paint is the one option to go for as a future selling point.
  13. Plus a second hand engine will be an unknown quantity with a very limited warranty.
  14. Yes it's the current list price, any saving is predicated on future price rises which given the current inflation rate seem likely.
  15. Osram Night Breakers are pretty good, available in most fitments Halogen, Xenon etc.
  16. I think that is appalling service, I can't comment on whether it's covered or not, but surely whatever the outcome they should have clearly communicated that with you.
  17. You could try the Book My Garage website and see what that comes up with, an IS250 should be a fairly standard vehicle to service. https://bookmygarage.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIl53W7PSw_QIVi57tCh2Y9g3JEAAYASAAEgKo__D_BwE
  18. I have had an EGR fail (not a Lexus though), other than the MIL light there was no discernible issues.
  19. Yes and then you need to normalise the data to what proportion of vehicles have smart keys, I would hazard a guess it's way less than 66%.
  20. Having mixed tyres will likely reduce the performance envelope of the vehicle, you stayed within the envelope so were ok. But say you had to make an emergency stop or swerve out of the way of debris on the motorway, then it may have been a different story.
  21. That may be true, but the problem is that it's just the statistical mean, there will be outliers that fail at 100k and some that last until 200k.
  22. Can't be certain, but at 10-years and 160k you are probably at the tipping point of where maintenance and repair costs can ramp up significantly.
