  1. No not all batteries have these, it's usually on the side at the top. When a lead acid battery is charged it will vent hydrogen gas, if it's in a vented space such as under the bonnet this is not a problem, but when the battery is installed internally (such as in the boot), the gas could build up and cause an explosion, hence the vent tube. But it's a very remote possibility and I would not worry about it.
  2. So not a Gearbox problem, are you covered by the Relax warranty?
  3. Around 50mpg is pretty impressive for a luxury car. But fuel costs are generally not the largest cost in running a vehicle, unless you are doing very high mileages.
  4. So legally you should have cover for any major defects for 6-months, take it back to the dealer to fix or refund, don't throw money at it. Go to your local Citizens Advice or Trading Standards if the dealer does not play ball.
  5. Smaller spaces = more cars = more money Car park owner doesn't care if you car gets dinged
  6. It's an anti hijack feature so if you are parked in a dodgy location late at night someone can't dash up and jump in one of the other doors.

If you didn't authorise the work then don't pay, ask them to refit the old ones and see what they say....
  8. If it's like the 4th Gen RX it's nothing clever, just a countdown of mileage from 10,000 that can be reset at any time.
  9. Clearly it could be, but impossible for anyone on the forum to say without seeing the vehicle, personally I would avoid driving the vehicle until the repair is completed. The risk you have is there is a mechanical issue related to the accident and if goes undetected in the repair the insurance company may take the view it was not due to the accident and you end up having to foot the bill, (this happened to me but eventually I got the insurance to pay up.)
  10. Many people use Lexus Parts Direct (which is actually a dealer in Swindon), no additional club discount but prices are competitive. https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/
  11. There was one that collapsed in NY a few weeks ago, but I suspect factors such as quality of the build, maintenance, concrete cancer etc are more of a factor. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/18/nyregion/nyc-parking-garage-collapse.html
  12. I agree used prices are high, but it's driven by market demand and lack of new cars ultimately impacts what is available used. Never had a Volvo myself, but I would guess there must be quite a few independents in Sweden who can maintain / repair a Volvo whereas options for Lexus would be limited.
  13. I'd say if your personal circumstances mean you don't need an imminent change then hang in there. Presumably if you actually wanted a BMW or Audi you would have ordered one in the first place.
  14. In the winter this will also happen so the engine runs to help heat the car.
  15. I'd suggest getting the battery and alternator checked as a first step.
  16. I think if a car is doing very low miles you can push the service to every 2-years, but 5-years is a stretch too far.
  17. A colleague of mine was staying at a smart country hotel, found the bonnet of his car was all scratched up, asked the reception about it. Apparently one of the Peacocks had messed all over it and the staff had tried cleaning it up but ended up scratching all the paintwork.
  18. Probably a Seagull rather than a Pigeon, they seem the worst culprits.
  19. Also it's best to leave the Climate Control on all the time as this helps keep the system lubricated and seals from drying out etc.
  20. Or possibly two to ensure you have matching tyres of the same make and wear characteristics.
  21. Yes that's the response you should give if some lads knock on your door "can we wash your car mister", but not at the dealership of a luxury brand that supposedly prides itself on customer service.
  22. You could try pulling out the seatbelt to it's full extent and use a piece of card or something to wedge it from retracting, this may help eliminate if it's the seatbelt mechanism. 90% of fixing these annoying rattle issues is finding the cause.
  23. Maybe not all dealers offer them, but I get bombarded with letters, phonecalls, texts, emails etc about once a quarter and I doubt I will be buying a new car anytime soon.
  24. So at a steady 40 mph do you think you are actually doing 2800 rpm or just the rev counter is wrong? What happens at 70 mph?
  25. Is the vehicle not changing up gear, or you just think the rev counter is not correct?
