  1. Check the tyres as they may be cracked due to ageing, the 12v battery may also be due for a change. Is the service history fully up to date, in particular have the coolant and spark plugs been changed. Personally I check oil every 1,000 miles.
  2. Were you looking for a 4th or 5th Gen? No problems with the seat in my 4th Gen F Sport.
  3. Maybe if you had not been there in your Lexus the Golf would not have stopped for the pedestrian either. But bad luck and hope you get it all sorted ok.
  4. Yes should be as long as the service history is up to date, not necessarily continuous but undertaken in the last 12-months / 10,000 miles.
  5. I think good independents are few and far between, I'd suggest keeping with Lexus whilst you still qualify for the Relax scheme (get your last service just before 10-years and you will get another full year's cover). Once you fall out of Relax, if your annual mileage is <5k I would suggest you could probably get away with a service every 2-years, an intermediate MOT will highlight any major issues.
  6. If you want to stick with an RX then this would be the obvious route to take, but given you have a relatively new car you would likely take a big hit in depreciation if you were to change now. I would suggest keep what you have for now and either get a Gen 5 towards the end of production or wait and see what a Gen 6 might offer. I am guessing there may be a Gen 6 that would meet the UK legislation for hybrid sales until 2035.
  7. Slightly more than two left at the moment, but numbers now rapidly declining... Vehicles licensed every year 2022-2012. 8. The side bolsters are less pronounced on the non F Sport models.
  9. Have you checked on Youtube, something like this may help.
  10. I can't confirm the wiring scheme, but definitely two plates were fitted to my car free of charge.
  11. Was the car sold as a Lexus approved vehicle? I would expect the water pump to be covered, the brakes probably fall under wear and tear so probably not covered (they would not be covered under the Relax scheme either unless actually faulty).
  12. Could be it's not been fitted properly or there is a loose hose, also check the oil filler cap is done up tight. I would be inclined to rule out a vacuum leak as the first possible cause.
  13. I find it does tend to err on the cautious side and can end up braking when you don't expect it, but overall is better than a traditional fixed speed only cruise control.
  14. Do the brake lights come on, if not it's probably the switch (may just need adjusting).
  15. ebay Auction: "Take a Chance on Me" followed by "The Winner Takes it All" Breakdown: "SOS" followed by "Ring Ring"
  16. Absolutely and even if you are achieving 250 mpg you need to factor in the cost of electricity too.
  17. It would require a class legal action, instructing a local solicitor against the legal department of a large corporate would just be a waste of money. I don't get how these diesel owners are owed thousands of pounds (at least as per the adverts) when at worst the emissions issue has had a relatively small impact on resale value. Surely the damage is owed to us (the public) who have had to breathe in their excess emissions?
  18. The jack and tools are rubbish quality anway, these are heavy cars and I would only use the supplied jack in an emergency. I'd never use the supplied wheel wrench, not fit for purpose.
  19. But servicing should be a high profit margin product for the dealer, an interim service is just an oil & filter change and a quick look round at things. You can check out the price of oil and filter for yourself and a dealer probably can get them for half that cost, does not require a highly skilled technician who is probably only paid slightly above minimum wage. Seems like a no-brainer to me, or does all the money go the Lexus rather than the dealer?
  20. I have no professional qualifications as a motor engineer but have previously maintained and repaired my own cars, although I no longer do so I still like to understand how things work and if something goes wrong what the problem is. Unfortunately the average motorist seems to have no knowledge or interest in the engineering of their vehicle, hence dealers get away with these scams.
  21. Lexus Swindon also operate the Lexus Parts Direct website which many members make use of.
  22. Otherwise called the sidelight, probably a small 5w bulb.
  23. But by convention referred to as the right, as in right hand drive etc.
