  1. Yes up to 15-year Lexus warranty if you maintain the service history. Do you know when the Cat S was applied as being a high cost car this could mean the damage was quite significant.
  2. But changing brand also involves cost, especially for a comparable vehicle. Car insurance in general has increased significantly across the board, it's not just a Lexus / RX issue.
  3. I would think either the discs / pads or an ABS issue, but don't be fobbed off it's normal. The split between regenerative / conventional braking will depend on how hard you brake rather than a specific speed and discs will certainly be used above 8 mph.
  4. There is also likely to be a residual charge even if you disconnect the battery, but the contacts are not directly exposed so you would have to be pretty careless / unlucky to get a shock. I have certainly changed HID bulbs, as others have stated access is likely to be the biggest problem.
  5. To be pedantic "stolen and recovered", but still very worrying, at least there don't seem to be any reports of thefts of vehicles which have had the protector plates fitted.
  6. I struggle to see the point in personalised number plates. I struggle even more to understand why you would buy one that replicates the make / model of the car it's attached to when the manufacturer has already gone to the trouble of attaching badges.
  7. If the service history is up to date the Hybrid battery will be still covered under Lexus warranty (up to 15-years) and presumably car will be sold with some form of warranty, check carefully what is covered.
  8. Also who picks up the £m bill, insurance policy of the car that caught fire, individuals car insurance policies, any liability from the airport / car park operator?
  9. That would suggest to me tracking / wheel alignment may not be optimised. I have the Dunlop SportMaxx, at 20k miles fronts are still over 4mm and rears at 6mm with very even wear.
  10. You could contact Lexus Customer Relations, but I strongly suspect I know what the answer will be (you can have any colour you like as long as its black). cr@lexus.co.uk
  11. Personally I don't think that's a major worry, presumably you have checked the MOT history?
  12. The table is for cars up to 5-years old, would be interesting to see data for cars up to 10-years old.
  13. Glad you got is sorted, but is the dealership incompetent or are there no communications from Lexus HQ to dealerships?
  14. Personally I would pay the extra £150 or so for the Lexus dealer, I would also ask for a discount (they can only say no). I don't believe there are any Lexus approved independents, only independents that may claim to be specialists in Lexus.
  15. The first version was a non-interference design, so no major drama if the belt did break.
  16. I guess the small black box was a key relay theft attempt, so make sure keys are stored in a Faraday cage which has been tested.
  17. I think this is actually a late pre-facelift Premier not a Takumi, still a very nice car with all the options. Main difference apart from the cosmetics is the older generation infotainment system.
  18. Toyota did compete in F1, but without great success. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_in_Formula_One
  19. Our family car was a Morris Minor, heater on full in summer holiday traffic jams to avoid overheating. My friend whose dad owned a garage had a red Daimler Sovereign (the upmarket version of a Jaguar XJ6) with electric windows and 8-track stereo.
  20. Check the spec carefully as it's quite complex for these cars. I suspect this is an F-Sport with the Premier pack, check which buttons are fitted on the right hand side of the dash, should be options for heated steering wheel, head up display and panoramic camera. If so this is the one I would go for as I have this version myself.
  21. If the drive shaft is being removed also good practice to replace the driveshaft oil seals on the differential.
