  1. Yes, but I let folks like you pay the full price of a new car 😉 I then buy nearly new <10,000 miles with a significant discount 😉
  2. When I buy a used car and double the mileage I always get a sense of the car is now really mine.
  3. Now you know what the problem was and have a working fix, may be worth checking the service manuals if there is any calibration process you need to go through.
  4. Bear in mind with Lexus you get the Relax warranty and Hybrid battery warranty and a full service history will help maintain the vehicles value. I do agree service prices are high for what is basically an oil & filter change and inspection, but it's true of all marques in the UK unfortunately.
  5. Not sure there is a test drive for just a service, for a repair it would depend on the issue - for example something that only happens at high speed would require a trip to the nearest motorway.
  6. The RX500h is still on the website, at least on my pc. https://www.lexus.co.uk/new-cars/rx/build?path=grades/ac7ecf2e-0f39-4e44-86b2-9db3e1ce6577/2edc31fd-550a-4c45-b473-2931dc05240b/098a3507-a849-442e-96dc-961373979b78
  7. This time of year may just be condensation if your car is not garaged, similarly can be ice when cold.
  8. But Lexus built their reputation on beating the competition rather than just matching it, so it's a shame if that is no longer their strategy.
  9. But the service mechanic / MOT tester will no doubt mess up your settings. Surely the cost of adding a memory function must be a few £s at most and the bulk of the cost is in multiple electric motors etc.
  10. It's a nice reassurance to have, 15-years unlimited mileage, but how many owners have had to make a warranty claim, I don't recall any posts on the forum for this. Again seems strange that Toyota as the vanilla brand would have a better warranty, just like pre Relax when Toyota's had a 5-year warranty but Lexus only 3-years.
  11. I believe it's mainly designed to reduce body roll rather than for comfort, don't expect a magic carpet ride like a Citroen DS.
  12. But only 3rd party cover is a legal requirement, most people want greater cover which would still allow the insurance companies to make their money.
  13. I suspect you may get a different experience if your insurance policy can claim off the other party, but are very tight when paying out themselves. I would be asking the insurance company to find a like for like vehicle at the offer value they are proposing.
  14. Presumably the result of such high premiums is we will see more cars on the road without insurance which in turn pushes up the costs for everyone else.
  15. Hopefully not a result from the previous two being stolen 😉
  16. I don't think that's correct AVS should be standard on the Takumi, simple check if you have Sport+ mode you will have AVS.
  17. I think the general quality of service from car dealerships and independents in the UK is very poor, so Lexus have a very low bar to reach in order to be the best.
  18. Valid point and surely speaks well to the build quality. But also a factor is many will have been purchased as weekend cars with low mileage rather than a family workhorse.
  19. A very low attrition rate for a vehicle of this age.
  20. There was no part number on the paperwork when I had the fix, I think it would be best if pictures were not posted online. Sounds like Lexus Canada have their head in the sand as they must be aware of the problem and the potential fix.
  21. I agree, if you make an offer too low it can become an insult, I would suggest £10k is a good starting point.
  22. Or why not just put in a small block V8 like folks have been doing for years, these types of car are always for a bit of fun not as a serious mode of transport so mileage will be relatively low and probably less environmental impact than all those batteries.
  23. Also hugely expensive to do, far outweigh's the cost of rebuilding the engine.
  24. A brand new one should be fitted free of charge, but I have never seen a post where that has been needed.
