  1. No tracker for me, if it's gone it's gone. I would hate to get my car back trashed and marked as stolen / recovered impacting any future sale / trade-in as well as ongoing worry that it will only happen again.
  2. I had both sides done as recommended by Lexus Customer Relations. But the passenger side does seem most vulnerable and maybe they are short of stock (assuming it's the same part for both sides).
  3. I suspect Ghost and similar products are reverse engineered (as the full design specifications are not publicly available), hence these compatibility issues may occur. But better this has been identified rather than a failed install which may cause unintended issues. Clearly, Lexus owns the IPR and could develop a similar solution to address the Can bus issue if they so desired....
  4. Just like an ICE car the range is only a prediction based on assumptions around energy usage and winter weather won't help either. Are you using on a long journey or multiple shorter journeys, the former would probably be closer to the predicted range.
  5. If it is launched in the UK I can't see Toyota setting up a 3rd dealership network so most likely they would integrate it with Lexus but as a premium model, bit like Mercedes and Maybach.
  6. This looks like a measure in absolute numbers so Fiestas etc appear high on the list simply as they are one of the most common / popular cars in the UK by virtue of numbers (which also drives a lucrative trade in being stolen for parts). Normalised data is a much better comparison eg thefts / number of vehicles so a direct comparison can be made. Lexus make up only a small proportion of cars in the UK, so in absolute numbers the number of cars stolen may look small, but the actual incidence of theft (or likelihood of your car being stolen) is much higher. Whilst writing the above just received an email from LV, extract as below. "Over the past year, there’s been a rise in thefts of the LEXUS RX 450H F SPORT AUTO. As a result, we’ve seen a large increase in the number and cost of claims we’ve received for these types of vehicles and have made the difficult decision to stop insuring them."
  7. Yes absolutely correct, with the caveat that if the battery has gone flat it may not fully recover and take a full charge. The engine stopping and starting when stationary is mainly to maintain the cabin temperature at this time of year.
  8. No doubt it was just a reset issue but just as a double check the oil would look very pale yellow if just changed. I doubt a main dealer would try a scam, but it's just possible there was a mix up in who was assigned to which jobs on the day etc.
  9. I think either they are incompetent and not doing their research properly, or don't want to upset the manufacturer as they get nice freebies such as loan cars, plush launch events etc.
  10. If it's the same as the RX it's active in all modes and has a firmer setting in Sport+ mode.
  11. My tip would be don't travel unless necessary, many jobs allow working from home in the post pandemic era. If you do venture out make sure the car is fully defrosted and all windows clear, also be wary of using your screenwash which can instantly freeze in cold conditions. I have a recollection of driving on black ice on a dual carriageway, car in front spun hit the kerb and then rolled over three times (fortunately no one was injured). I stopped and got out of the car, immediately falling on my arse it was so slippy.
  12. So some of this may be due to the Can bus issue, but the used car market has been crazy over the past couple of years with prices first rising significantly and now falling back to more typical levels of depreciation.
  13. If you sell a nearly new car you will definitely take a big financial hit in depreciation. If you keep the car it may get stolen, (but however bad the stats are the majority of vehicles are not stolen), if it is you make an insurance claim, albeit you may not get a full market value pay out. The disadvantage of keeping a car at potential risk is peace of mind and insurance costs. This is my logic at least.
  14. I think you need to be more descriptive of the type of noise and where you think it's coming from to get any meaningful response eg is it a clunk, bang, creak, loud, quiet etc
  15. The AutoTrader advert says it's above market price, so I would look to negotiate that down, not typical dealer stock so I suspect they will want to offload it quickly.
  16. It will be checked as part of the service, but the warranty is only for 15-years so any issues would not be covered. You could pay for the check (about £60/£70 from memory) before committing to buy the vehicle.
  17. Yes you would be covered by the Lexus factory warranty if still applicable (3-years / 60,000 miles). You would be covered by Relax if the Service History is up to date and also the Hybrid Battery if the health check is up to date.

    Goodbye

Also very safe, there has been no recorded fatality in an XC90 since launch in 2002.

Good luck with the Volvo, no harm in switching brands as circumstances change. Lexus are not the first manufacturer to trash their hard earned reputation and probably won't be the last. Never had a Volvo personally but certainly the brand stood for quality back in the 80's / 90's, been in a few Volvo taxis that have had 300/400 thousand on the clock.
  20. If it's lead acid it's toast at 3v and will never regain full charge, was helping my son with his car this morning and battery is toast at 11.6v. The difference with a non-hybrid is you will get symptoms of a poor battery before it fails, in a hybrid there is no such warning, it either works perfectly or not at all.
  21. Amongst other things shoes on dash will cause serious injury in the event of an accident.
  22. Yes when you press the front de-mist button the blower fan goes into warp speed, but quiet at normal speeds. Turn the temp to LO and see if you get cold air. Warming up do you mean the engine temperature gauge or just does not feel warm?
  23. The £10m JLR are spending seems quite cheap to me and I suspect they have a significantly higher sales volume in the UK than Lexus. If nothing else they could do a deal with one of the 3rd party products such as Ghost at a fraction of the cost a retail customer would pay.
