  1. Make sure they don't chip the paint around the screen. Someone had done that on my old GS, water gets under it and you'll get rust bubbles.
  2. If you buy a Gunsons Easi-Bleed kit, make sure you buy the universal cap to go with it. The standard caps don't fit Toyota or Lexus., and if you drill a standard cap to fit the kit'll just blow it back off the reservoir.
  3. With the power off, what happens when you spin the polishing head with your hand? If it spins freely, it's a random-orbit polisher. If it turns the motor, it's a rotary polisher (a glorified angle grinder). A random orbit polisher will jiggle the polishing head about randomly. You can actually grab the head with the power on, all it does is rattle around in your hand. With a rotary polisher you can burn your paint unless you're very careful. Let's face it, do you really want to polish your car with an angle grinder? The one in the picture looks like a grinder. Compare the two following pictures:- This is the Porter Cable 7428 polisher. Notice the connection between polishing pad and gearbox. This is not a random orbit polisher. This is the Porter Cable 7424 RANDOM ORBIT polisher. Again, notice the connection between polishing pad and gearbox. That extra bit carries a weight that's driven round by the motor, the pad itself connects to a ball-race bearing that spins freely. Basically, it's a 400 watt rumble pack with a polishing pad attached!

  9. That plate's now on a 2002 BMW 525D Sport. (Checked using eBay) Original topic is here, and yes it was indeed M5 LEX.
  10. Hang on, is this going in a house or an IS? :D The two wires coming in will usually work either way round. They connect to points A and B in your NTE5 LineBox. On a normal "Master" socket they connect to pins 5 and 2 respectively. If you have a multimeter you can put them the right way round anyway. Set it to a volts DC range and put it across the two wires. Then:- If you get -48V, the wire on your black probe is A, the one on the red probe is B. If you get 48V, the wire on your black probe is B, the one on the red probe is A. The Master socket will extract the ringing current and present it on pin 3. If this is missing, some telephones won't ring when you call them. Between Master and Secondaries all you need are pins 2 (blue, white bands), 3 (orange, white bands) and 5 (white, blue bands). Others are unused but can be connected just for neatness. Lots more info here.
