  1. You can't beat a nice K&N! I used to have one on my 1300cc Corolla, sounded lovely when I blipped the throttle! And of course there's the lifespan. Normal filter: 25,000 miles, chuck it out, buy another K&N filter: 100,000 miles, take it out, clean it, oil it, refit it, do another 100,000 miles, and so on. Sweet!
  2. There's nothing like a nice, warm welcome - and that was nothing like a nice, warm welcome! :P Where was the post originally, SF? I spotted it because I'm a "Today's Active Posts" addict!
  3. By the way, if any members are going home via the M5, about a mile before you join at J25 (as you leave Ruishton) pull into that truck stop on your left for a burger (or in my case, a bacon, mushroom and black pudding bap). VERY nice, and ALWAYS open!
  4. You're not the only one. I'm ex-Aberdare, back there every weekend. My old GS is still in Aberdare 'cos my mate bought it. Gandalf's from Cardiff too, another GS owner.
  5. I think I know the one. I'll be there (after making a Quik Detailer pit-stop!) About 12:00, right?
  6. 8500s should look nice with LED sidelights. My 4000K Philips "Blue Vision" still aren't as blue as my white LED clusters!
  7. My sister's fiance won a pair. Not on eBay, the proper way! Cool!
  8. I'd go for the Panasonic, too. I've got the DMR-HS2 (DVD-R/DVDRAM/40GB HD), my parents have the DMR-E50 (DVD-R/DVDRAM). Very nice.
  9. She won't. She'll get three, then Mike'll get the next three
  10. The LS has slipped into second place in the Sedan over $45,000 category, just 23 votes behind the Jaguar XJ. Also, first time around I forgot to mention the LX470 in the Large SUV over $45,000 category. Currently in bottom place, it needs 863 votes to climb to the top!
  11. Wrong size. They do, however, fit various other internal and external lights. On the GS, for example, they fit sidelights, rear interior lights, red footlights, boot light, high-level brake light, number plate light, side repeaters and the outer tail lights! They're probably fine as sidelights, it's just that I've already got my LED ones in there.
  12. High beams are full-beams, i.e. switch pushed forward or when flashing your headlamps. Low beams are normal headlights, i.e. switch in normal position (for example, auto mode when it's dark). Those bulbs are also used in the GS's foglamps. I ordered two sets of lows and a set of highs the other day, they'll be on the car in time for the Portland mini-meet. Hopefully so will my reversing sensors! Don't know what to do with the two free bulbs. Numberplate? Most of my other 5W wedges have been replaced with LED clusters! You might want to e-mail them and change the order to low beam bulbs. Or just order another set, get them delivered to a different address and get another pair of wedges for free?
  13. B***ards! Someone keyed my bonnet the weekend before last, too. Scratch about a foot long down the passenger side. Wasn't when it was outside my house as I checked the CCTV, must've been when I went back to Aberdare for the weekend. If I catch one of these b***ards in the act they're going to court and they're paying for a full respray, or they're going to have the hiding of their lives. Time to dig out my original tape-based CCTV and set it up at my parents' house. Again.
  14. Painfully, but I did it. Try bending some of the cables out of the way.
  15. Erm, by definition all LEDs are polarised - they're diodes after all (Light Emitting Diodes). ← I know, but we're talking LED bulbs here, not just LEDs. The Ultraleds 6-LED clusters are bidirectional, but the 8-LED ones are one-way-round only.
  16. Some LED bulbs only work one-way-round. Got to take them out, rotate them 180° and put them back in. The 8-LED wide-angle ones fit my GS nicely!
  17. Can you remember what ones you got Wosket, the ones that blew? Just so we know which ones to avoid!
  18. Missed it on Tuesday (slept through it!), will watch it on ITV2 on Thursday.
  19. The Speed Trap Bible have received a request for help for a BBC program and hope that some of you may be able to assist - This message sent on behalf of the BBC's "Inside Out" current affairs documentary programme. Ever traded speed camera penalty points? Have you paid another motorist to pretend they were driving your car so you could avoid disqualification? Or have you yourself been paid to take the rap? The BBC documentary programme "Inside Out" is compiling a report on the trade and wants to hear from those who've been involved. What kind of money changes hands? How did you make contact with the motorist with whom you traded points? Did all go according to plan? Looking back, how do you view what you did? Would you do it again? We are focusing on individuals who've been involved in a business transaction rather than those who've taken points for a spouse or partner. If you have a story to tell please call, in strict confidence, Giles or Rachel on 0121-567-6181
