  1. I think the ones that just flash up "SLOW DOWN" together with the limit are better. No boy racers trying to beat their "score" like the speed-display ones, plus they actually alert you that you're going too fast, unlike Gatsos.
  2. I think airbrushing would be the better option, I'd expect vinyl to peel. Might be worth digging about on motorbike forums, this is the sort of thing that gets done to fuel tanks and crash helmets.
  3. The Mk.2 is easier to park than the Mk.1 though, as you can see the edge of the boot lid on the Mk.2 - with the Mk.1, you can see out the back but you know there's at least a foot more car out there that you can't see! Of course, I've added parking sensors now and it's even easier!
  4. I use BlueVision, got the full set (dip, main, fog) from PowerBulbs. Good light, not as blue as the white 8-LED sidelights I bought from Ultraleds though!
  5. We've standardised on Dell at work, and have been using Dell laptops for years. I recently purchased a Dell Dimension 5000 from the Dell Outlet for about £450, P4 3GHz, 1GB RAM, 2 x 80GB HDD, DVDROM, DVD burner, 128MB ATI X300 video card with TV out, Audigy 2 sound card, wireless keyboard and mouse, no monitor though. VERY quiet, only needed it to record CCTV so I flogged the video card, sound card, DVD burner and speakers on eBay! Spec. would normally have cost just over £800. Highly recommended. The Dell Outlet stock is constantly changing, so if you don't see anything you like, check back in an hour or so. There are usually "£50 off" or "free delivery" offers on them (check through the optional extras when adding to your basket) which offset the VAT. DON'T TOUCH TINY WITH A BARGE POLE! Tiny and Time came bottom of a Which? customer satisfaction survey, their customer service absolutely sucks.
  6. I just forced an update on mine, "Services 4 0 1 Select" still works. Changing the dialling prefix isn't exactly a cheat, they catch up in the end :P
  7. Just did a Google search for sky "full system reset", and it appears to be the option you're after - reformats the drive!
  8. Increases the operating pressure from 12.8psi to 18.5psi. Hope your gaskets and hoses are in good shape! (unit conversions courtesy of www.onlineconversion.com)
  9. Ignore what goes on on the screen. Services, 4, 0, 1, select. Now the installer menu appears. Same goes for all Sky Digiboxes.
  10. When buying a bigger drive, shop around. Different drives from different manufacturers draw different amounts of power. Here are some examples:- Hitachi 7K250 163.5GB 7200RPM: 5.9W Maxtor DiamondMax 16 160GB 5400RPM: 5.6W Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 160GB 7200RPM: 7.3W Maxtor DiamondMax 10 160GB 7200RPM: not known Samsung SpinPoint V80 160GB 5400RPM: 5.5W Samsung SpinPoint P80 160GB 7200RPM: 7.0W Samsung SpinPoint P80SD 160GB 7200RPM: 6.8W Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 160GB 7200RPM: 7.5W Western Digital Caviar 160GB 7200RPM: 8.1W As you can see there's a variation of over 2.5 watts across the range, all of which needs to be chucked out as heat. The lower the power consumption of the hard drive, the less likely you're going to need to overdrive the fan. I've been using the Hitachi drives for a while now, the only one I had fail was a faulty drive that had been sent back to the company, only to be re-sealed and shipped back out as brand-new (have bought several thousand pounds' worth of drives since then, different supplier). These have all been used in devices where hot, greedy hard drives would cause problems.
  11. Believe me it's tempting, mate, but I can't. Next year for definite, ALL weekend.
  12. Firstly, borrow a torque wrench and tighten the wheelnuts to the correct torque, in the correct order! Out-of-order nut tightening messes up discs on the GS.
  13. I'd have a shot at that chilli sauce, but I won't be coming this year. Reasons:- 1) Weather (although it's looking better now - Fri/Sat/Sun = Cloud/Cloud/Rain) 2) Work commitments (got jobs booked in on Saturday and Sunday) 3) Got to sort the car out (bits and bobs, including spraying a patch of the front bumper and sorting out the key-scratch that's still evident on my bonnet) 4) Got no tent! Will definitely come next year, though!

  15. Best bet would be to ask on the US forums, as the LX470 isn't available over here.
