  1. Nothing to do with the ECU losing its power supply and rebooting as part of the installation process, then?
  2. I bought myself a Panasonic NV-GS400B last year. Fantastic camcorder, but a touch over your budget methinks! If buying abroad, watch out for the confusing model numbers, the Panasonic NV series are PAL, the PV series are NTSC!
  3. Report him, then. DVLA even let you do it online!
  4. Glad you mentioned that! [eXOBeX pops outside to change his tax disc, which is now 13 minutes out of date]
  5. Increased MPG, eh? Looks like I'll be getting one then!
  6. You could always convert to LPG. Granted, it's not as cheap as running a diesel on chip-fat or central heating oil , but cheaper than petrol nevertheless. Plus you'll go further between fills because you've got a tank of gas AND a tank of "gas", so to speak!
  7. LOL! Only 10 litres of spare fuel allowed in France. None at all in Italy - it's illegal!
  8. Someone's ears must be burning right now.
  9. Do you want me to still keep an eye out for gassed-up LS400s on AutoTrader, Beard? (I assume you haven't shaved it - probably wouldn't recognise you without the beard and long hair!)
  10. Not much elitism here, Justin, just a bit of a dig at Rover, that's all. Generally everybody's nice and friendly, regardless of whether they picked their car up for two grand or sixty grand. Now, d'you want a hand getting all your toys back in the pram, mate? :D
  11. Just put a diode in a bag and sell it on eBay for five quid. Seems to work for the "BHP mod" resistors! :P
  12. Tyresave have a useful wheel size calculator, so you can go for bigger alloys and see what tyres would give you the same rolling radius. Click here. (If the link doesn't work go to the main Tyresave site, click "Please click here to visit", click "Site Index" on the right below the phone, then click "Tyre Size Calculator" halfway through the TYRES section.) They're pretty keen on their prices, too - I bought a set of Mille Miglias & tyres from them just before Christmas.
  13. Ah, f**k it. He'll get his comeuppance 'cos that guy ain't going to cough up anyway!
  14. Spot on mate, what I was saying over here. If you quote RS part no 447-0829 at any components shop they will cross ref and you will get a P600B. ← Assuming they've got an RS catalogue to hand or access to t'Internet, of course! I'm familiar with the 1N400x and 1N540x range, didn't know about the P600x diodes so that was useful. I just thought that a more universally recognised part number would be easier to track down.
  15. A pair of 1N5400 diodes will do the job nicely. Fog light bulbs pull just under 2 amps a piece, 1N5400s are rated at 3A apiece. 10p each from Maplin, order code QL81C. If they're not in stock, any 1N540x diode will do, they just have higher maximum voltage ratings. Alternatively you can use a single P600A (or P600B, D, G, J, K, M) which is big enough to do both bulbs. 49p from Maplin, order code UK59P. Remember, only one side needs to be done. Both bulbs will light because they're wired together already.
  16. Tectonic gears, too! Does that mean that the gears sit on a layer of molten rock?
  17. Of course, it'd mean nobody'd pinch your valve caps, they'll be too busy trying to prise out the jewels!
  18. Ummm... that's Steptoe, not Garnett, Mike.
  19. Be fair SF, you can't search for JAE as it's only 3 letters and gets rejected! :P
  20. My GS seemed to "perk up" when I reset the ECU, they may have done the same. Incidentally, it seems to have cured the sharp gearchange I was getting. If that's what they've done you should find it'll settle down a bit once the car gets used to your driving style.
  21. That's what I forgot to mention - they work! Less Gatsos, more "slow" auto-signs, less w@nkers hiding in their talivans, more traffic cops. That's what we need.
